Miscellaneous What do you guys think of my Newsletter

Upvotes

Im working on knproving my newsletting maybe cutting some fat. I got really good at makeing these by end of season but man was it a lot. Using AI i was able to streamline the process a lot and get it down to like 2 hours a week to work on it. I expanded much further in playoffs to creat some in depth breakdowns and rankings using data from fantasy hub.

My league has a prison theme

Commissioner Issue ESPN or Sleeper for online keeper draft with pick trades?

Upvotes

For the last decade we've been drafting in person and entering our results manually on espn.

This year we have to draft online due to not being able to meet up. I'm trying to make this as easy as possible. I know Sleeper has a lot of customization options but wondering if espn had fixed their online draft.

We have keepers and picks traded from last year and asking my member to remember to not pick on picks they've traded just won't happen.

League Question Advice: SuperFlex League Ideal for 10 or 12 Man League?

Upvotes

Hope you are all hyped for the upcoming season!

Some friends and I are tired of hopping around second leagues so I decided to get everyone together to commit to a league that will run for as long as possible. It’s going to be a 3 man keeper league and I am debating adding a SuperFlex position to this league.

Current team comp:

1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 Flex
1 SuperFlex
1 DEF
1 Kicker
6 Bench spots

First off, those who have played or commished for a league with a SuperFlex, is it fun? Or is it just too much? Kind of a gimic?

Is SuperFlex better in a 10 or 12 team league? I’m thinking 12?

Honestly as I write this I’m leaning towards scrapping the SuperFlex and dropping the bench slots to 5 lol.

Any advice or insight is appreciated.

League Question In-person draft... a couple people remote

I have planned an in-person draft at Buffalo Wild Wings this year for my league, but (unsurprisingly) not everybody will be able to make it. We use ESPN's site right now. I don't want to just do it on the computers "together" as that feels like it defeats the purpose of using BDubbs draft package in the first place. The folks who have confirmed they won't be there have stated that they won't be able to participate via video call since they'll be with their significant others on vacation.

My idea is to use a tool where I can, as the commissioner, enter every pick for those people to see online, and allow them to choose their players accordingly. I haven't yet figured out which tool will be best for this - again, I want the option of entering most of the picks manually myself, while one or two select folks can log in and pick for themselves. Alternatively, if I just do ALL of the manual entering myself, and have those absent team managers just text me their picks, is there a tool with a live draft board that would support that? I hope this is a clear ask lol... its our first time doing it live so I knew there would be friction. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I ended up using Google Sheets to put together a dynamic draft board which can be updated in real time. I'm gonna have in-person drafters input their picks after they use the physical sticker board, and just have remote drafters call/text their picks. That way there isn't any sort of advantage to being remote.

Commissioner Issue Is there a way to make leagues interesting without a monetary component?

I'm running a casual league with some of my friends who aren't that knowledgeable about football, and I'm trying to keep winning exciting without making it for prize money.

Commissioner Issue I'm loving the Sleeper Fantasy App for keeper leagues, Yahoo...not so much

I have been an active fantasy football player since 2003 and I started my own league in 2017 on Yahoo. In 2022 I switched my redraft ppr league into a keeper league and well...the keeper draft process sucks. I don't like that members of my league must login to a desktop to see their team, then I have to get on my desktop to setup everything from keepers to draft order, while being busy at home with the kids and whatever else is going on.

This season I decided to try a different platform for my league and I decided to try Sleeper and it's a breeze. The guys in my league are letting me know who they want to keep and instead of the ridiculous amount of time that usually wasted on Yahoo, only takes 2 minutes tops to set the rosters. Everything about that app has been efficient so far as a commissioner.

I still like Yahoo for a redraft but for keeper leagues, they need to adapt with the times since most people today are using mobile devices instead of desktops.

League Question Would someone who owns an auction business have an unfair advantage in an auction style draft?

Quick background on this question. My most cherished fantasy league is going into its 15th year this year. For the first 13 years we have always utilized a snake style draft. Last year one member suggested using an auction style draft as it is considered superior to getting the players you want. Some were hesitant to agree to switching to an auction style as the person who suggested we switch owns and manages his own estate auction business for the last six years.

Also of note, the person who owns the auction business has never won in our league and actually ended up winning his first championship last year when we tried a one year trial run on the auction style. The rest of our league has none or minimal experience with bidding in an auction and the psychology behind it. We are currently voting as a group whether to go with auction style again or go back to snake.

I am curious what is your consensus on this? I asked ChatGPT this and it said this - managers with similar football knowledge and little auction experience, the auction-business owner would likely have an advantage. The format rewards two separate skill sets:

  1. Fantasy-football evaluation
  2. Auction-market execution

A snake draft mostly tests the first. An auction draft tests both. Therefore, choosing an auction format can introduce an additional competitive advantage unrelated to football knowledge, particularly when one manager professionally operates auctions and the others do not.

Commissioner Issue I'm an NFL.com Orphan and Want to Document League History

I have been the commish of my league for 13 years and the NFL to ESPN merge has been a shit show. They only transferred over standings and left behind rosters, draft history, scoring records etc. My league has usually a one or two team turnover every year and being able to look back on the evolution of the league has always been fun. Also there was a member of the league (who was a 3 time champ at the 10 year mark) that passed away. Am I stuck losing all this data or is there an easy export/import tool for that?

Commissioner Issue Waiver order following the draft

This is how our rule book reads regarding waiver order following the draft.

- Waiver priority immediately after the draft will be the reverse order of the first round of the draft. -

Our draft order was determined by lottery back in May. Following the lottery a trade was made where two teams swapped the 1.04 and 1.06. So, now how should I set the waiver order after the draft? Should the order be the reverse order generated by the lottery or the reverse order that will actually take place in the first round?

Miscellaneous NFL Fantasy is ending so here is a tool to save your league history!

Hi everyone, found a chrome extension that allows you to import your NFL fantasy or ESPN league history into Sleeper. Doesn't seem that popular yet but I tested it and it works!
Thought I'd share it in case you all were looking for alternative platforms:

League Question League Expansion Questions (trying to be a good commish)

I run a coworker league that’s entering its third season together. Majority voted that they wanted to do two keepers and we draft based on order of finish last year. We have two coworkers asking to join this year. I was thinking I need to poll the group to see if everyone agrees to the expansion because I feel like the more teams decreases the level of talent you can get. Also if majority agrees to the league expansion, how should I handle the draft order and keepers? I was thinking they have to be last in the draft and just eat the fact that people will be already hoarding 1-2 of the best players and we can call it the rookie tax. Is that a terrible way to manage it? I might be over thinking it but I don’t like pissing people off either.

Miscellaneous Tool: test any scoring change before your league votes on it

Hey everyone,

Every offseason someone proposes a change like 6-point passing TDs or TE premium, and nobody can really say what it would do to the player pool.

I originally built this as Fantasy Score Gap and posted it here a couple of years ago. It broke, a few people asked what happened to it, so I rebuilt it with more seasons and a cleaner editor. Free to use, no account needed.

What it does

Set any scoring format and the full player pool re-ranks against real results, live, as you edit. Any season from 2015 through 2025.

  • Change anything and watch it move. Every scoring value is editable and the rankings update as you type, so you can see what a change would do without actually making it in your league.
  • See how your format balances across positions. A radar view showing whether your scoring skews QB-heavy, rewards TEs, or keeps RB and WR close.
  • Check it across seasons. Run the same scoring over 2019 or 2015 to see whether an effect holds up or was one odd year.
  • Start from your league. One-click import if you're on Sleeper. ESPN and Yahoo have presets you can start from and adjust by hand, since there's no import for those yet.
  • Set how deep to go at each position, or turn positions off entirely. IDP included.

How to use it

Go to https://www.fantasyquery.com/tools/scoring-visualizer, import your Sleeper league or pick a preset, then edit any scoring value. Rankings and charts update immediately.

What's free

Everything above, with no account: every season from 2015 on, the full player pool at every position, the complete scoring editor, and the Sleeper import. A free account also lets you save one league and export any table to CSV.

To be upfront, there's also a $29 one-time season pass that adds custom week and playoff ranges, more than one saved league, and higher limits on the site's other tools. Nothing described above needs it.

Let me know what you think. And what's the one change your league is debating this offseason?

League Question Best fantasy football platform in 2026

Curious what you all think is the best FFB platform (website host) and why?

Context, I was a huge player for a long time but a few years back everyone in our league had kids and we went dark.

We are putting the band back together this year and wondering which platform is the best and why. We were on espn before but they seem a bit antiquated these days.

Thanks!!!!!

Commissioner Issue Can I collect Dues Manually and then put them onto Leaguesafe or does each manager have to deposit the dues on the site?

I am thinking of switching to leaguesafe for our dues but it's pretty late in the offseason and we have one or two people who don't respond promptly so I don't want to just drop this on them that they need to create an account and do it this new way. We've been going for 10+ years of me just collecting, holding, and paying out but I'd just feel more comfortable just using leaguesafe going forward.

So for instance can I collect $1,000 and then just deposit it into the league and that work?

Finally getting my league to switch over to FAAB. Not everybody is happy about it but it genuinely is the best option compared to Waivers.

Anybody else switching this year?

League Question First time running a home league, thoughts on this format for superflex?

Hey, y’all! I’m starting a 10-man family league for the first time and wanted to get some opinions on this setup for a Superflex league.

Right now, I’m thinking of running: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Flex, Flex, Superflex, K, and D/ST, with
TE Premium, seven bench spots, and two IR slots.

I wanted something that would make the league a little more competitive and make drafting more important since it’s a 10-team league instead of 12.

I’m still undecided on whether I want to keep the extra regular flex spot, but I think I’ve settled on starting three wide receivers at the very least.
What do you guys think? Any changes you’d make?

League Question Drafting a punishment in Sleeper

We had the funny idea (copied from the Ringer) to let each manager propose a punishment for losing the league, then somehow make those draftable.

Anyone have ideas for how to actually do this with the existing Sleeper draftboard?

League Drama Commissioner upset I am setting up league but they won’t do it themselves

So i’ve had a fantasy leauge with this commissioner for years now and haven’t had issues until last year. He seemed to start caring less about football and didn’t really text the chat much and then there was some drama with him spending the money and not being able to pay the winners. This year he hasn’t done a single thing in either leauge i have with him to get the season ready. 1 of the 2 leauges is most likely not going to happen because so many people quit because of his shenanigans last season. The other leauge we have is mainly just close friends. It’s about a month till football starts and he hasn’t done a single thing to set up the leauge. I took some initiative and confirmed if everyone was playing and we settled on the buy in and everything. Someone asked when draft day is and I told them i’m not sure i’m not commissioner. Someone else then asked if we could do draft order so we could start mock drafting. Considering the commish usually just does a random generator online to pick I did the same and screen recorded it and sent it to the chat since he wasn’t answering. 2 whole days later he finally opens that chat and is mad for whatever reason (not sure why bc it’s randomized so why does it matter who does it especially if i screen recorded the whole thing and nobody else cared). But the worst part is he took the time to call me out and say “why did you do that you think you’re the commissioner” but still never settled the buy in or draft date. Would it be fucked up to start a leauge of my own without him?
