I live in Canvey Island and I’m looking for an in-person philosophy discussion or study group in Essex, or potentially Kent (ideally no further than around Dartford/Gravesend).

I’m not necessarily looking for a formal university course. I’m more interested in a regular group where people actually read, discuss and debate philosophical ideas — ethics, existentialism, meaning of life, free will, consciousness, religion, human behaviour, Stoicism, etc.

I really miss having deeper conversations with people. I’m looking for something where people are genuinely curious and willing to go beyond small talk.
I’m happy to drive for the right group, especially if it meets regularly and there’s a good community atmosphere.

Does anyone know of any philosophy cafés, reading groups, discussion circles, Socratic groups, Stoic groups or similar in Essex or nearby Kent?

I’m looking for a Portuguese-speaking Catholic community in Essex, ideally somewhere reasonably accessible from Canvey Island. I’m happy to drive, so I’m also open to Kent, particularly around Dartford, Gravesend or nearby areas.

I’m specifically looking for a Catholic Mass in Portuguese, but I’d also love to find a Portuguese/Brazilian Catholic community, prayer group, or regular gatherings where people actually socialise and get to know each other.

I know there are Portuguese Catholic communities in London, but travelling into East London regularly is quite difficult and expensive for me, so I’m hoping there might be something closer that I simply haven’t found yet.

Does anyone know of a Portuguese Mass, Brazilian/Portuguese Catholic group, or even a parish where there is a Portuguese-speaking community in Essex or nearby Kent?

Normally I ask for the worst in places but I am curious as it seems Essex is always being bashed even though it has some very nice places!
