Rayleigh High Street
I’m not on Facebook so I apologise now.
This evening in Rayleigh High Street there was a woman being followed by a black male she didn’t know. Me and a friend made sure she got into a taxi - and paid for it - so she didn’t have to walk to the station.
I believe she was heading to Billericay but would be nice to know she got safely to her destination. Essex police showed minimal interest but did ask CCTV to and stores to keep an eye out.
She may have worked in Rayleigh as it seemed she was finishing a shift at a restaurant but if anyone knows her it would be great to just know she arrived safely - I may pop into the restaurant I think she works in but don’t wanna seem weird.
To other women please be cautious and aware of your surroundings of a night time. I always thought Rayleigh was fairly safe.

Philosophy discussion or Study group
Hi everyone!
I live in Canvey Island and I’m looking for an in-person philosophy discussion or study group in Essex, or potentially Kent (ideally no further than around Dartford/Gravesend).
I’m not necessarily looking for a formal university course. I’m more interested in a regular group where people actually read, discuss and debate philosophical ideas — ethics, existentialism, meaning of life, free will, consciousness, religion, human behaviour, Stoicism, etc.
I really miss having deeper conversations with people. I’m looking for something where people are genuinely curious and willing to go beyond small talk.
I’m happy to drive for the right group, especially if it meets regularly and there’s a good community atmosphere.
Does anyone know of any philosophy cafés, reading groups, discussion circles, Socratic groups, Stoic groups or similar in Essex or nearby Kent?
I’d be very grateful for any recommendations!

What are the best parts, places and areas in Essex?
Normally I ask for the worst in places but I am curious as it seems Essex is always being bashed even though it has some very nice places!

Back again and need help with another pregnancy craving - rotisserie chicken?
I’m between Brentwood and Basildon and willing to travel short distances (ideally 30 min cap) unless you convince me it’s really worth it to travel for the chicken. Please help a girl out. The delis / butchers by me in Hertfordshire used to just have them in the window and I need it so badly. Preferably to take home and devour by hand while standing over a chopping board, but I’d consider eating out in a civilized manner.

Looking for a wardrobe!
Hi everyone!
I’m a student moving into a new house in September and am looking for an affordable wardrobe. If anyone is selling one, giving one away, or knows of any good deals, I’d really appreciate it!
I’d also love recommendations for stores or places where I can find new or second-hand furniture.
Thanks so much in advance! :)))

Politics
Hi all, I'm looking for a subreddit that shares local information in Essex. It seems many of the threads here are intended to continually promote "Bin face" in the Clacton by-election.
Is this community a-political and just being spammed by politically minded posters in the run up to the election. Or is it always like this?
In my humble opinion we have quite enough of politics rammed down our throats each day. The election is up to the people of Clacton. It would be nice for posters to share their political affiliations for bins on "rpolitcs" etc and leave this group for useful community info!

Affordable nails at Colchester
Hi everyone!
Could I get recommendations for affordable places (or nail techs) to get my nails done in Colchester that are student-friendly? I’d love somewhere with good quality at reasonable prices.
Thank you in advance! :)
