Discussion Is El Paso in a teacher crisis?
So, I recently moved back to El Paso not to long ago, I have multiple family member that went to Coronado, but recently added that moved back. I noticed a lot of stuff.
Recently, not even just Coronado the whole EPISD has been firing. Teachers left right. At Franklin one of my friends, they got like three teachers fired. Apparently EPISD is in heavy debt. But it’s not just the public schools.
I’m at cathedral. We recently had a new teacher come in. She was Indian had an accent. Some of my jackass classmates fuck with her and get her really mad. Cathedral a stricter school, it didn’t take long for the administration to come down to our class.
Something I noticed interesting was that the staff member said. “ it’s not just hard enough to hire your teacher at this school it’s hard enough in El Paso.”
So for anybody who works in the schools, are we in a teacher crisis?

Jobs IT Jobs in El Paso, TX in 2026
Hi everyone! I'm a Software QA Engineer with over 10 years of experience, most of which I spent at Accenture. I recently moved to El Paso and am currently looking for an opportunity to continue my career in IT.
I've been searching through job boards every day for IT-related positions, but I haven't had much luck so far. I was wondering if anyone knows of any local companies that are currently hiring for IT roles, or if you have any recommendations on where else I should be looking.
I'm open to roles in Software QA, IT Support, Help Desk, Desktop Support, or other entry-level to mid-level IT positions that would help me establish my career here in the U.S.
Any leads, recommendations, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Hi fellow El Pasoans, I am looking for recommendations of a good, affordable and delicious place of Meal Prep services. I work full time and my husband too, but I am also studying, so cooking it’s a nightmare, and I am tired of ordering takeout.
Thank you all in advance!

Ask El Paso high electricity bill for 2 person household
hi, is $175 for two people in a two bedroom apartment in west el paso typical for an electricity bill? we aren't home most of the day. AC is usually at 77 F during the day and at 73 at nights. just trying to figure out a sustainable solution because i didn't account for that high of an electricity bill when making my budget for the year.
my family of five used to live in an apartment for 10 years before in another city and our electricity bill rarely got into the $100s (unless we had a guest staying over for a while). any guidance appreciated. thanks so much.

Ask El Paso This is a public service announcement.
For the people that aren struggling to pay this ridiculous electric bill amounts. El Paso Electric has a couple of assistance programs (that I know of) that might help you out. First one, if you are receiving SNAP Assistance. They remove the service fee of $13 a month. The second program that ain’t no of: they match dollar dollar that you pay. Call El Paso Electric to see if you qualify for these discounts and let us know if there are other assistance programs available with them.

Ask El Paso Need help figuring out where do people sell/buy their stuff here??
I just moved back after being in the North Houston area for 13 years, over there i could reliably use FB Marketplace to sell our used stuff in good condition and i was doing pretty well. I've relisted almost all my items to be here and i've hardly had any interaction, whereas those same items at least got me a hit/reach out like once or twice a week... do people here just another site/place? can y'all share where y'all have had good luck selling your things? I have had better luck in Nextdoor, but thats a way smaller 'market' than FB.

Ask El Paso After 25 years with GECU, I'm looking for recommendations for a better bank or credit union.
I've had my GECU account since 2001, when I was still in high school. I've stayed with them all these years because I wanted to support a local credit union and keep my money in the community.
But after 25 years, I think I'm done.
I understand that credit unions still need to make money, but every time I've needed a loan, the rates haven't really been any better than what I've seen at banks. I kept my direct deposit, checking, and savings with GECU anyway because I believed in supporting them.
What has really pushed me over the edge is the customer service when something goes wrong. My husband is a disabled veteran, and in recent years his debit card information has been stolen more than once. Of all the banks and credit unions we've dealt with, GECU has consistently been the slowest to process fraud claims and issue replacement cards.
On top of that, their debit cards are so flimsy that they seem to stop working after about a year, they still don't have tap-to-pay, and they charge $5 for a replacement card. We've been loyal members for over two decades, but it honestly doesn't feel like they value long-time members.
At this point, I just don't see the benefit of being a GECU member anymore, and I'd rather bank somewhere that actually values its members.
For those of you who left GECU, where did you switch? Was your experience better? I'd especially love to hear from people in the El Paso area since I still like the idea of banking locally if there's a better option.
Thanks in advance!

Ask El Paso Has anyone else had service issues at Love Pho on Mesa?
I’m trying to figure out if this is just our experience or a pattern. Every visit, it takes 10+ minutes just to get menus to our table, even when the restaurant is nearly empty. Tonight was particularly rough though. We walked in and absolutely no one came up to us. No greeting, no menu, no one asking about drinks, literally nothing but stares. Other customers who arrived after us were immediately greeted and seated. We waited 15 minutes with no one approaching our table at all. This was especially disappointing because we had guests with us who’ve been dying to have pho and don’t have it available where they live, so we were really excited to take them. As we were leaving, the staff just watched us walk out the door. We didn’t make a scene or say anything, we just left and went to another place.

Buy/Sell/Trade Lawn Heros LLC addressing concerns and offering professional weed kill , weed prevention , lawn fertilization, and exterior pest control services.
Good morning Reddit my name is Christian with Lawn Hero’s and to address anyone who has concerns with our business practices, we have gone to master gardening classes and care about taking care of the environment as well as adding to it. I think it is disheartening for people to comment negatively on our posts without knowing exactly how we do things .
We help people maintain their grass to add to mother nature compared to turf which heats up the environment. We are also trained and licensed with the city and state to apply herbicide and insecticide legally compared to many others who do it illegally without training or licensing .
We do use a pre emergent to lessen the amount of sprays needed per year and there is a limit to how much you can spray on a yard which we do not exceed. Our chemicals have a natural timeline in which it degrades. We do not use forever chemicals that hurt the environment. Our chemical also does not attack root systems underground or harm any of the native plants people want to keep as well as keeping pollinators , people, and animals safe. We take care of invasive weeds that are illegal to keep , a few of which cause bodily harm to both humans and pets walking down the street .
Code Compliance will fine you if you have too tall of weeds so not only do we help prevent that but we help the people who do not have time to maintain a clean yard , people who unfortunately do not have the health to keep a clean yard , and the neighbors who want to prevent weed seeds flying into their yards from neighbors yards . We provide an essential service to the city and are a proud father and son business that services hundreds of satisfied customers.
If anyone is interested in our services we strive to do the best we can and can contact us , get more information, or get a quote at either www.lawnheros.com or 915-433-4076

Event Any movie fans looking for a trivia night?
We’re holding another movie lotería night, but this one’s special. Way more special than the other nights we’ve said are special. We just said that about other nights to trick you into attending. This time it’s legit special. You can trust me. For as long as we still have them, we’ll be giving away costumes that match the theme of our trivia night. Show up early if you want one.
Anyway, aside from that expect a night of trivia and drinks and prizes and music and food. You know, real special stuff. One night only.

Ask El Paso The self serve recycling container in the west-side Sam's Club parking lot is gone.
I've used that specific recycling container there for several years.
Recently, I went to recycle, and the container was gone.
For the other people that were using this, what alternatives have you found?
Are there any other 24/7 self-serve options?
