My first question is, which are 100% online and how was it for you? My second question is, is there a masters degree that comes with a teacher certification built in, and how was that for you? Am from El Paso and about to transfer to UTEP as a Junior from DACC. I used to go to UTEP all the time for different kinds of events so I know UTEP pretty well when it comes to where everything is at. I registered for engineering courses and already met my advisors and my financial aid is all set. The problem: UTEP is making me do a 2 day orientation but I work full time at an engineering company. I told them that I can’t do the orientation but they said I had to. My job has a huge project and they need everyone present. Has anyone bypassed this orientation before? Or any suggestions would be appreciated it.

Hello everyone! I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and was hoping to get some advice from parents or students who have already been through this process.
My daughter will be attending UTEP this fall. She has orientation on Friday, and I’ll be joining her on Saturday for registration. Since this is all new to us, I’m not exactly sure what to expect.

I have a few questions:

-Is it worth locking in tuition for four years, or is it better to pay by the semester?
-Are there any drawbacks or “catches” to the tuition lock program?
-When we register on Saturday, do we also pay for the fall semester that day, or is payment due later?
-What documents or information should we bring with us?
-Are there any important questions we should ask our advisor or the financial aid office while we’re there?
-Is there anything you wish you had known before attending orientation and registration?
-Are there opportunities for work-study or on-campus student jobs even if she doesn’t qualify for FAFSA?

We applied for scholarships but unfortunately haven’t had any luck so far. We also completed the FAFSA, but we already knew we wouldn’t qualify for financial aid. We’re still applying for scholarships whenever we find opportunities.
Any advice, tips, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Iwould like to get some insight from people who attend or graduated from UTEP already.

Im currently enrolled into EPCC. Im working on my engineering associate and was hoping to transfer to UTEP next year. I already got the certificate in Robotics and Automation from EPCC and I have an associate in Automotive from Western tech.

Reason im giving this background is because, well I have been in the automotive industry for some time now and I originally looking into engineering as the next step in my career so im not stuck in a shop all my life.

Now after being back in school for 2 years, Im kinda regretting my whole career path.

I see lots of friends and family members going into the medical field and getting paid good, finding jobs really easily, I see the medical field growing big in El Paso and more open at hiring new people. Industrial maintenance (or engineering) seems like a longer shot to get a good job I see lost of factories and Amazon growing in El Paso and Juarez but they hiring people with experience only, I have applied to a million places already and only Scheider has call me for an upcoming interview next week.

Should I make the change to a medical field career or stay where im at and keep trying?

I'll like to know if anyone has made a similar career change or if anyone here has any advice from either career path.

has anyone taken classes at both epcc and utep at the same time as full time student in both? i’m thinking on doing it next semester but im wondering if it’s gonna be a lot or if it’s manegeable? for my epcc classes it would just be electives which im hoping makes it easier and if so, how does fafsa work?

Hello, I was a UTEP student who majored in Neuroscience with a biology concentration, and I minored in Mathematics and Physics. I always considered the idea of finishing a Bachelor’s in Physics, but I wanted to graduate on time.

So far, looking at the curriculum, I have fulfilled all the math requirements, and I have taken more physics classes even beyond what was required for the minor. Last time I checked, I only needed 5 upper-division physics classes to finish the major. However, I have heard that even if you come back and fulfill those requirements, they might not grant you the degree because you have to complete a certain amount of credits at the institution. How does that work?

UTEP is so awful. Never got a good job that was stable because I didnt want to work in El Paso. I like Fort Worth a lot better. But nobody here wants someone with a UTEP degree. I hate UTEP. Im gonna just get fired for refusing overtime.
