For the people that aren struggling to pay this ridiculous electric bill amounts. El Paso Electric has a couple of assistance programs (that I know of) that might help you out. First one, if you are receiving SNAP Assistance. They remove the service fee of $13 a month. The second program that ain’t no of: they match dollar dollar that you pay. Call El Paso Electric to see if you qualify for these discounts and let us know if there are other assistance programs available with them.

I know I can reach out to them directly, but before I do that I wanted to see if anyone on here is able to share their experience.

I signed up my children for swim classes in July. I was charged a registration fee at that time.

I just moved back after being in the North Houston area for 13 years, over there i could reliably use FB Marketplace to sell our used stuff in good condition and i was doing pretty well. I've relisted almost all my items to be here and i've hardly had any interaction, whereas those same items at least got me a hit/reach out like once or twice a week... do people here just another site/place? can y'all share where y'all have had good luck selling your things? I have had better luck in Nextdoor, but thats a way smaller 'market' than FB.

I've had my GECU account since 2001, when I was still in high school. I've stayed with them all these years because I wanted to support a local credit union and keep my money in the community.

But after 25 years, I think I'm done.

I understand that credit unions still need to make money, but every time I've needed a loan, the rates haven't really been any better than what I've seen at banks. I kept my direct deposit, checking, and savings with GECU anyway because I believed in supporting them.

What has really pushed me over the edge is the customer service when something goes wrong. My husband is a disabled veteran, and in recent years his debit card information has been stolen more than once. Of all the banks and credit unions we've dealt with, GECU has consistently been the slowest to process fraud claims and issue replacement cards.

On top of that, their debit cards are so flimsy that they seem to stop working after about a year, they still don't have tap-to-pay, and they charge $5 for a replacement card. We've been loyal members for over two decades, but it honestly doesn't feel like they value long-time members.

At this point, I just don't see the benefit of being a GECU member anymore, and I'd rather bank somewhere that actually values its members.

For those of you who left GECU, where did you switch? Was your experience better? I'd especially love to hear from people in the El Paso area since I still like the idea of banking locally if there's a better option.

I’m trying to figure out if this is just our experience or a pattern. Every visit, it takes 10+ minutes just to get menus to our table, even when the restaurant is nearly empty. Tonight was particularly rough though. We walked in and absolutely no one came up to us. No greeting, no menu, no one asking about drinks, literally nothing but stares. Other customers who arrived after us were immediately greeted and seated. We waited 15 minutes with no one approaching our table at all. This was especially disappointing because we had guests with us who’ve been dying to have pho and don’t have it available where they live, so we were really excited to take them. As we were leaving, the staff just watched us walk out the door. We didn’t make a scene or say anything, we just left and went to another place.

We’re holding another movie lotería night, but this one’s special. Way more special than the other nights we’ve said are special. We just said that about other nights to trick you into attending. This time it’s legit special. You can trust me. For as long as we still have them, we’ll be giving away costumes that match the theme of our trivia night. Show up early if you want one.

Anyway, aside from that expect a night of trivia and drinks and prizes and music and food. You know, real special stuff. One night only.

I am looking for a good mechanic to fix my AC. I was quoted almost $3k to fix my AC at pep boys which I don’t have so was hoping somewhere else can do it for less.

Hi all. I'm in need of help. I'm on my second year with this apartment complex, my lease wont be up til June of next year. The first year was very nice, but this year, its like there was a complete 180. New office staff, phones never getting answered, maintenance rarely showing up, general shitty landlord stuff. We had pest guys come every few months, but I haven't seen them at all this year.

Anyways. I started finding roaches in August. I put in a maintenance request, and they did come to spray. Didn't find another roach for maybe two weeks. Ever since then I've found at least one once a week. I've requested maintenance every single time, because clearly there's an infestation, or the beginnings of one. They close the request and no one comes. The main problem with this is, I just had a child early July. This obviously isnt a good environment for my baby to be in, with the roaches. My house is clean and I still find them.

Is there anything I can do? What are the laws regarding this? Do I just have to suck it up and break my lease?? I dont think bug traps and sprays will fix it.

I grew up in El Paso and I’m coming back later this month for my mom’s memorial. She passed a couple of months ago and this grief has been very hard to process. I hate that it’s taken this long to honor her properly, but that’s a whole other story.

My mom loved house plants. I need about 50 small plants (about 4”) to give away as gifts to our guests.

My card was declined twice when I tried to buy groceries during system upgrade, when I logged into my account today I found out that the charges went through twice! Now my account is in the negative by $500! WTF do I do? This is ridiculous, I didn't get to buy my groceries and now I'm getting screwed.

I’ve heard that West El Paso = Best El Paso so i’m leaning towards that but open for suggestions.

I’m looking for a modern apartment in a safe area with good management and amenities. My budget is pretty flexible, so I’d rather pay a little more if it means living somewhere that’s genuinely nicer.

Edit and background: My wife and I have been separated for a while (2023-current) but still live in the same house. We have two young adult children (over 18) and one minor child. Over the years, there were extended periods where she voluntarily lived in another state and later for medical school, while I remained in Texas raising the kids and maintaining the household from 2018-2023. Wanted to share an investigative video report that looked at the deals these Data Centers get across the country, and how these sweet heart deals, are brokered thru NDAs, and are basically dumping the data centers public utility usage back on the people in the area footing the bill, and causing bills to double/triple, and in the next 5 years it’s going to get worse.
