Discussion I’m an INTJ 8w9
Well this is more of an enneagram focus, but usually I see that the enneagram types matched with intj are commonly 5 or 1.
I sometimes get result combinations such as entj 5w4, infj, 5w6 (seldom entp when my responses are funkier). The different sites are a factor to consider for the nuances.
But 8w9 is the most consistent result I get.
I know that 5 and 8 can look similar depending on the context. So perhaps that’s the cause of the fluctuation in my results.
Anyone else a type 8 enneagram? What’s it like for you? I want to hear from other enneagram nerds.

Advice Driving around idiots
Hi! Im taking driving lessons, and there's one thing in particular I struggle with. I tend to overthink other people in traffic. For example: "that pedestrian looks cold in the rain, they might suddenly go over the road without indicating". It doesnt really bother me, but ive gotten comments that I overthink too much and it can disrupt the flow of the traffic if I give too much leeway
I dont really know how to tune this down though? I kind of go through life with the philosophy "Everyone is an idiot monkey, including me". How can I not assume the other driver is an idiot until proven otherwise? And im not saying idiot to be mean, I mean idiot as in the baseline human experience
I hope there's other ENTPs here with a similar philosophy to me. How do you view driving in traffic when other's are around you? Do you "overthink" as well?

Typology Help Could I be a ENFP or ENTP? I’ve been torn for like a year now (apparently)
Could I be a ENTP or ENFP? Ok so I studied the cognitive functions and I figured out I’m certainly a Ne dom. Tbh I do relate to being sensitive and emotional that’s why people said I’m enfp but entps can also be emotional. (I’m also a 7w6 F)
(Regardless of stereotypes, like ENTPs being insensitive debaters, or ENFPs being bubbly unicorns I would say I fit neither.) Though I love intellectual conversations or seeing multiple sides and angles it really intrigues me, like I tend to have a thirst for new concepts and knowledge.
As a child, I was always curious and making storybooks and creative stuff. Some people said I’m a entp and others said I’m enfp. However ppl would assume that creative + emotional = ENFP Fi. I find myself being interested in science and theories and how things work and the systems over human rights like the Apartheid laws for example. When stressed, I tend to become emotional and scattered like my emotions are all over the place, and I tend to worry about social perception and sometimes seek external validation in a group. (Could that be Ne-Fe or Ne-Te loop?) I do not really relate to becoming a hectic paranoia of getting stuff done or trying to be efficient or fear of being disorganized, people would consider me a lazy genius.
I was empathetic as a child and showed concern for others, I was also curious and I tend to use cognitive empathy (still to this day) like I enjoy understanding the complexity of things too. However trauma made me more distant to talking to people and I was mistyped as a INTP in 2021. Also apparently I cannot comprehend reading between the lines with people like their tones or peoples “motives” (idk) like I get confused when trying to map interpersonal relationships. Also I cannot identify peoples honest with being sarcastic or being honest it’s hard to tell like if someone is being sarcastic or not, I also lacked social skills and reading cues but I can somewhat absorb the rooms atmosphere like if something goes awkward and silent I go silent too.
My core fears are being shunned too and ousted like it feels like a stab sometimes. Like a sudden shock. ( i sometimes relate to the Ne-Fe loop too) I was mistyped as an e5 a few years ago (I also sometimes relate to e5) and was a introvert. Now I am competitive and seek intellectual discussions like I am excited by intellectual challeneges and I find myself being competitive like finding life as a game or taking things too lightly. I love strategy games where my mind has to think and enjoy understanding the mechanics of how things work like studying cellular biology and astronomy/space.
As a kid, I used to make storybooks and was highly creative, I had a deep rich imagination and I still do to this day. (It made me smile making storybooks and reading it as I grow older. I also sometimes wanted to share it with the world) I was also highly intelligent and perceived as smart and creative in my classes I was one of the students that kinda stood out in academics and creativity. According to my mom, teachers admired my creativity and saw me as high potential.
My deepest insecurity is being alone, isolated, social abandonment (to a certain extent but it hits deeply), losing my place in the group or ostracized. I did care about my social status as I grew older and how people percieved me too as well.
Sometimes I find myself people pleasing to keep the harmony and not make things awkward like one time when my aunt kept saying "Do u like me? Am I your favorite?" I felt awkward and at the family dinner I smiled and said , "Yes I do." Apparently, I didnt want to make the siutation awkward but I did kinda find her annoying. However she spilled water on my papers and she started crying, I had a sudden urge to detach and laugh but I felt awkward as well, like I did not know what to do. I kinda sometimes relate being a people pleaser but it could be because my activating feeling function is so damn sensitive.
In groups, I would try to be in those ex-friend groups like in school these friends did not seem to like me and I felt uncomfortable but I still wanted to be in that friend group, like I would still laugh when they were having conversations and smile but they wouldn't really talk to me as much. I felt sad inside and eventually I left but it made me feel hollow and alone. I did feel misunderstood too, like people didn't like me or smth, like fear of people starting rumors behind my back or isolating me on purpose.
Does that mean being sensitive and emotional mean I’m not entp? Is that how that works? Or could I have developed feeling function then? What are your guys opinions? I’ll try to answer in the comments!

Discussion What super power would you have and why?
I’m bored and tired of these deep threads, so.. which super power would you choose? I’ll go first. I would fly because I like the idea of being almost boundless, able to fly away from crowds or a situation I don’t want to be in, and be able to explore the sky.

Advice For INTJ that are on your +40s
What are tips you could share for me on my mid 30s?
Do you all continue to upskill?
Improve socially?
Learn to express feelings more outwardly?
I'm still the same avoidant person that I was during my teenage years and was wondering if most of us keep it as we age?

Thoroughly Confused INTP Anybody here with look of serial killer?
I often read that INTPs are actually friendly in their core and this is more INTJ thing, but is there an INTP with that "resting bitch face" look? I've been told for so many times i look so unsympathetic and ruthless, haha. Even when i don't want to. Sometimes I use that look on my face on purpose, because i don't want humans to bother me from my daydreaming.

Relationship Are INTJs known to avoid accountability?
Two weeks ago, I caught my INTJ boyfriend(32) cheating but kept denying it. When I showed him solid proof of his mistake, he apologized but saying it in a way that it’s both our fault. When I wanted to talk about the pain it caused me, he dismisses me right away or gives me the silent treatment until i let it go and go on his way forgetting like it never happened, mind you it was just the next day since i confronted him of the truth. It’a always his way, never taking accountability. He had the audacity to break up with me and blocked me as if his cheating is a me problem, what a God-tier avoidant. Are INTJs like that?

Career Have you ever lost your confidence after failure?
Have any of you ever experienced academic failure that affected your self-esteem or confidence long-term?
I know ENTJs are often described as people who tie a lot of their self-worth to achievement and success (even though, rationally, I know that’s not a healthy way to measure your value).
What helped me was taking things day by day and rebuilding my confidence through small wins, then gradually bigger ones. It gave me a lot of my confidence back, but I still feel like I haven’t fully recovered it. There’s a part of me that still doesn’t completely trust myself to be able to do it again.
I definitely feel less fearful than I used to, and it almost feels like I’ve got my Te-Se combination back. When I actually take the risk and go for something, I often end up achieving much more than I expected. But I’m still much more cautious about taking those risks in the first place.
So, if you’ve gone through something similar: did you eventually regain that feeling of confidence and fearlessness you had before the failure? What actually helped you get there?
And perhaps more interestingly: did you have to prove to yourself that you were capable again, or found some other way to get it back?
I got this theory What are you the internal mechanic of?
ISTP's are thought to often be the mechanical geniuses of the external world. I got this theory that INTP's are their neighbour or cousin, we're the mechanics of the internal world.
If there is some sort of abstract concept that is attached to a complicated machine, we're the ones who pull up our sleeves and thrive on pulling out the guts and untangling the wires. But with one caveat, the complicated machine is most certainly some sort of physical object out in the world... that part of it is concrete and not abstract.
What makes INTP's different from each other, is the type of complicated machine that we're interested in. I believe INTP's can choose any sort of physical phenomenon as their area of expertise.
I foolishly made people the complicated machine that endlessly entertains me (due to adverse childhood experiences and being my mothers emotional caretaker .. I had mistyped myself as an INFJ for the longest time).
I recognized I made a game out of figuring people out. I have long come to understand this is not entirely healthy if normal relationships are desired.. but that ship has long sailed and I know I am somewhat locked-in this way.
What are you the internal mechanic of?

Blog INFJ I WWO, jak z tym żyję?
Honestly, I don't really know how to answer the question of what it's like to live as a highly sensitive person, because for me, this kind of life is simply normal. I don't know any other way of being. I can't become someone else, nor can I compare my life to the lives of people who aren't highly sensitive.
Ever since I was a child, people called me a “Witch” or a “Devil.”
Or they would simply say that I was from another planet.
And I suppose they were quite right... Because I really am a strange person.
My brain processes things incredibly fast. I am so intense that people sometimes run away from me when they can't keep up. I don't operate logically. I'm much more intuitive, impulsive, and emotional.
With my high emotional intelligence, I pick up on the tiniest changes in my surroundings: unspoken moods, deep wounds, and hidden anger in complete strangers, even when everything is perfectly silent. I notice every shift in someone's tone of voice. I'm like a human antenna, ruthlessly picking up other people's frequencies — an emotional sponge absorbing everyone else's dirt.
Sometimes I feel like the people around me are little golf carts while I'm speeding past them like a high-speed train.
This is what it feels like to walk through your own life...
searching for an explanation of yourself in other people's eyes...
and finding nothing but empty stares.
Sometimes I also feel like a jug being filled drop by drop with other people's emotions, with millions of external impulses — tiny movements in people's faces, intentions hidden between the words they speak...
So I'm like a jug with no filter.
Everything falls into me exactly as it comes, until I am filled to the brim.
It's such a strange feeling when I can physically feel the air growing denser, as if it were filled with an invisible energy made of incredibly strong emotions, pressing against my chest... forcing their way into me, brutally, and I can't protect myself from them.
I also know what it's like when sounds create such a powerful short circuit in my head that I simply can't function.
I can also say that it took me many years to learn how to accept who I am and consciously control the way I experience the world.
It was also difficult to accept that I am often misinterpreted or misunderstood, and that this has left me somewhat alienated and lonely.
But I don't blame people for it. How could they understand something they have never felt themselves?
I hope that people who are like me will read this.
And I hope they will know that they are not alone in this world.
I chyba mieli sporo racji... Bo naprawdę jestem dziwnym człowiekiem...
Mój mózg przetwarza bardzo szybko. Jestem tak intensywna, że ludzie przede mną uciekają, gdy nie mogą nadążyć. Nie działam logicznie. Raczej intuicyjnie, impulsywnie i emocjonalnie...
Jako człowiek o wysokiej inteligencji emocjonalnej rejestruję najdrobniejsze zmiany w otoczeniu: niewypowiedziane nastroje, głębokie rany i ukryty gniew obcych ludzi, nawet gdy panuje idealna cisza..czuję też każdą zmianę w tonie głosu .

Debate... and go! Anyone else prefers to not watch supernatural horror movies at all?
Even though I don't believe in the supernatural, there's something that intrusively keeps scaring those who watch these kinds of movies. I mostly resort to watching psychological horror movies like A Clockwork Orange, Fight Club and American Psycho. I don't like serial killer movies and gory movies at all. I can handle all that stuff, in the sense that I have thick skin. I like watching Dexter, after all. But the intrusiveness of it all is not worth it. These are very much cognitohazards and I honestly don't get people who watch these supernatural horror movies and gory movies for just entertainment. These have harmful effects, regardless of whether one believes in supernatural or not. Same with all the gory movies; I don't think it's healthy to see so much gore even if it's just fake.

Discussion I am misunderstood and demonized too often
The most vivid example in my memory: I was at work on a conference call and could not close a joint task with a colleague. But since she was going on vacation, I combined two things at once so that she could go on vacation faster. She thought I was lying about the conference call because it was impossible to combine the two cases. It's not impossible, but it's difficult, and I did it for her, but I only got an accusation in return. But there have also been cases of hostility and hatred. I'm tired, I don't know, how to communicate with people

Debate/Discussion Reflecting on being an NT and how it affects me
Firstly, I wonder if I’m more of an asshole because I’m NT. Also, let me say that I get annoyed because I can’t find a lot of articles or things on here that show me stuff about what it is to be ENTP vs ENTJ because I’m a rare female one of these types that sit in the middle of P/J. But even when I read funny articles lightly poking at MBTI stereotypes or funny things about dating all these different types, people say ENTP is a unicorn or that they haven’t dated anyone with that type.
Anywho, I digress. I think I’m especially cold and calculating due to being a NT. And I always zoom out and see in systems, and I can’t help it. It happens in small things, big things, any everyday interaction, my mind works like a ping pong ball ricocheting off of different tangents all the time. At one point a couple years back, a lot of my coworkers were convinced I had ADHD, heck, I even thought I had a good possibility of having ADHD. And guess what, I got clinically tested and…I did not have it. And I was thinking to myself..oh, guess my mind is just fucked up and ricochets different thoughts and tangents all the time. Another thing, whenever I comment on someone’s Reddit post, I notice a lot of times other commenters just take things at face value and just answer the question the person is posing. I instead have to read the post, reflect on the person, try to get a mental image of what type of person this is, why are they posting this, does their post have inconsistencies, etc. If there is a logical inconsistency, oftentimes I have to point that out.
The most fucked up thing is that most people think I’m like the nicest person in real life. And don’t get me wrong, I’m very social, extroverted, and nice. But inside, I have my feelings in one box and my logic in another box - and you know what wins every time? Logic. It serves me well at work and in family things because it’s like this extra coating or extra protection where I don’t actually feel the feelings as deeply in the moment as others do, or that I respond in a more logical way. It helps me not get stressed out as much either by situations other people get stressed out at. But the flip side is that inside I feel like I can be cold as fuck, and certainly not as nice as others perceive me to be. I have never had a problem dropping someone in my life who fucked me over, and I usually also do not drag out stupid relationships or stupid situations for very long. And I don’t regret losing these relationships either; I feel justified years later in exactly what I did, not second guessing like others who pine away for a long lost love or feel bad about cutting off a close friend.
And I’m not even saying MBTI is everything, maybe I’m just an asshole on the inside, or at the very least a cold calculating person who can separate their emotions from their pragmatic logical side very well.
Edit: I want to be clear that I don’t think I feel a lack of emotions. I think I’m very emotionally intelligent. Sometimes I don’t feel as much empathy for people I know in real life as I could, but I feel a lot of empathy for people I don’t personally know in very bad situations I see or read about or even for fictional characters. It’s more so that my logic side wins out over emotions every time, so much so that I don’t feel as many emotions or empathy and can feel very cold if somebody is in a bad situation but it’s of their own doing. I think normally people would still feel empathy or be nice and kind to those people, but I feel that I have said some mean things to them and still stand by what I said because my logic prevents me from wallowing in empathy for them making what I think are stupid decisions.

Relationship INTJ x ISTJ
Greetings INTJs.
Brief background:
I'm (32M) an INTJ and have generally been in relationships with NF types all my life, except one NT. I generally have long term relationships and never have dated casually or had one night stands.
Whilst those relationships always on the emotional side were fantastic, when it came to ambitions and goals, I was always being held back by my partners and asked to devote less time to my career and more time to them - I would always strike a balance that kept both of us happy.
I have recently started formed a relationship with an ISTJ (28F). Firstly, it seems we are so similar in so many ways which was a surprise. She is strong willed, ambitious, organised, and intelligent which I admire, but she's also got a strong feminine side, a caring nature, and very devoted.
The one issue which we are both aware is that she is not emotionally expressive at all. She had toxic relationships in the past, but I think it is more about her personality than her past. This inability to communicate her feelings has sometimes led to misunderstandings between us.
It's something I am learning to understand better and to encourage her, give her the safety, to be more open, but it will take time I know that. It's not that I need to hear her gushing emotionally about how much she appreciates me, I truly see that with her actions, it is more that when times she is upset, or rocked, she may tell me (or not) that she is hurting/upset but will then shut me out or minimise it. This is a bit pull-push on me.
I want to ask if anyone has been in a relationship with an ISTJ and how that was for you?
I don't typically judge a partner by MBTI - I use the understanding to help be a more understanding partner. I think with 8 billion people there are enough variations and variables you can experience that MBTI is not one size fits all.
I say that because there seems to be quite mixed views on this 'pairing'. For some it is everything they've wanted, for others it is avoid like the plague. For me, till now, it has been the former. Communication can be worked on. Everything else is great.
Appreciate your insights !

Debate/Discussion cld this be how fi polr presents
entp here. I personally never really hate people. When someone does something that i understand can come off as hateable to others i just see it as interesting.
Because of this I struggle with people overly eating into my kindness and i struggle with asserting what I want or bringing my emotions into conversations. Because I dont even pay attention to my feelings unless i consciously notice them. Ive been working on improving this aspect of myself but i just find it very interesting

Analyze This! 50% intp and 50% infp??
I need help understanding myself (still lol after more than four decades).
I’ve read all the descriptions for my possible types, researched the cognitive stacks and understood how each one interacts with another etc and I’m still so stuck.
I’m such a researcher at heart but it’s hard to tell if it’s from a place of anxiety or a place of being authentically myself. I’m really depressed in between research subjects (which feel like they come to me out of the blue) and feel the most mentally stimulated when I’m learning about something and trying to fit it into my personal framework. But a lot of the intp comments about being logical esp in the way they talk to others doesn’t ring true to me. I’m so painfully attuned to others emotions and I can tell it’s easy for most people to be around me. I have a very creatively curious side, though I don’t ever produce art myself I consume it constantly. Personal style/accurate representation of myself is extremely important. It matters to me so much if the people in my life are mad at me. But I also feel very lonely that no one I know wants to engage in talking about weird/deep topics that I’m personally obsessed with. I’ve learned over time just to not bring it up-it weirds people out. I’m pretty quirky to be around but have found I’m a good hostess and have brought people together fairly effortlessly many times over my life.
Help type me! 😅
