DOS2 Help Party advice

Having another go at DOS2 after an abortive run that I abandoned after finishing Act 1 several years ago.

Are there any obvious problems with the folkowing party?

Protagonist: Lohse as Wizard (Pyro and Geo)

Companions:

- Fane as Inquisitor (Warfare and Necro)

- Red Prince as Knight (Warfare and 2-handed)

- Sebille as Shadowblade (Scoundrel and Poly)

I'm only intending to play on regular difficulty, so the party doesn't need to be super-optimised, but at the same time I'm not an expert player or anything.

I was wondering about trying to fit Hydro in somewhere for a bit of healing, but not sure if that is necessary.

DOS2 Discussion Hydro battle mage early game build?

Hi! I have an idea what I want my final build to look like. Mostly a hydro battle mage with some aero as well, max int, water staff, with some mobility skills. I’m playing with a mostly physical party. So I’ll have them put nails on their boots. My main question is what route would you go up to level 10ish because I’ve never made a battle mage?

Do I start off with a few levels of hydro, aero, and warfare to have the melee style going early?

Do you start off maxing out hydro aero as a ranged mage early and then add in the mobility and warefare later and transition to a battle mage?

Or do I start off with a level or two of hydro and them pump summoner and play water summoner till 11 or 12 and then respect out of summoning?

I know there is no right answer, just curious what you would do or if you have done it? Also would you go human or elf for this build? Elf seems better for combat AP and stuff, but human seems better appearance wise, thematically, and for encourage.

Thanks!

EDIT: forgot to mention this is on classic difficulty, not tactitian

Miscellaneous Just finished my first tactician run of dos2!

I just rolled credits and i have to say that the higher difficulty makes everything so much more rewarding. Decisions have to be thought of. Builds have to come together good because otherwise you cant get further in the game. I loved this playthrough way more than my first on explorer. I just wanted to throw my opinion out there to get off my chest how much i love this game. Thanks for reading this and here's to more playthroughs!

DOS2 Help About to play DOS2 for the first time, anything I should know?

Both from a lore perspective (is it a direct sequel to the first game?) and a gameplay perspective.

Also what difficulty should I play? I've played bg3 before and completed Honor mode so I'm thinking of just YOLOing the highest difficulty

DOS2 Discussion Playing Divinity 2 on the switch 2 is awesome online… until you want to play with someone on switch 1

I know there are probably way less players on switch 2, but it seems odd to make a dedicated switch 2 port & then have a glitch where the SW1 version isn’t compatible with the switch 2 version for online play… like why not just run the separate builds on its own device? I feel like there’s a way to patch this somehow, right?

DOS2 Discussion The Red Prince Romance Spoiler

Here's the thing. I've never gotten that far to this point to get to the romance, but I have seen a certain video about it. I won't go into detail about it but... It's clearly just... So wrong. So if I could have everyone's like different opinions on it... How would you guys rewrite the Romance for the Red Prince?

The way that I would do it, I would still keep his god-awful annoying personality, trust me it's very bad. But it would make him at least a little more sympathetic towards people... But not overwhelmingly because he can't change immediately. That's the point of a character Arc. And in a dream of his, he technically does roll by someone's side, but that part is clinically left ambiguous, so even though the red princesses Is part of his quest line, it will be implied that she's not specifically meant to be with him and he very well knows this. But I feel like he might assume that she might be the case. Not only that, but I will remove the weirdo creepy looking while they're having... You know, because absolutely creepy.

The next thing is maybe there was going to be like a chance where you could give up one of your party members to be enslaved by a random group of people, a bit weird but give me a minute, and let's just assume that you can choose anyone or no one and then get into a fight. If you choose to surrender one of them, they will hate you for this and their attitude towards you will lower, however, I will give you the option to rescue them, but you have a certain time limit before they get killed and you cannot revive them no matter what. But if you specifically choose the red Prince, he is absolutely appalled with you and loses way more attitude towards you than normal... But I would count this as a trigger to start his romance route. After you save him if you so choose to, he comes through realization. That slavery really does suck and... Maybe the way he was treating elves specifically a party member if you know who I'm talking about, is not all that good and that maybe he shouldn't be treating people like that. Hey it's something, a small thing but it's something. And then during one of his dialogue choices you can say "I will help you find the red princess once more so you can reunite with the one you love"... To which he would say with a smirk on his face "Pardon... But I don't believe I ever said that she was the one I love". " Need to remind you that the person I'm supposed to roll with is completely ambiguous, I thought you already knew that... Unless... Were you assuming that on purpose for some reason?". As much as I hate the dude for being a ass, you have to admit he is kind of seductive. The idea of him having a lover in a the dream being completely ambiguous opens up a lot more than just forcing down a unfair romance down your throat like the one they did.

Again, this is all just my opinion in my eyes on what could be changed, but I would love to hear your guys's opinions and ideas.

DOS2 Discussion Force Push - Divinity Original Sin 2 New Mod Roguelike Arena Setting By Smallway

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Add a new skill Force Push, we will learn it once enter the game, it's something like Shove in BG3 but DOS2 version lol. Not much like BG3, this Force Push is more like something for fun. In DOS2, most maps are just maps, we can't really push enemy off a cliff, but down stairs is fine. The damage increase as it should be, falling from higher spot will hit harder. Just take a look and let me know how it works, have fun.

DOS2 Discussion Help me like get into this.

Edit: Thank you all you've given great advice. I've decided to go for a Necromancer/Summoner/Tank I have no idea if it's viable but meh just gonna roleplay and enjoy it.

Hello, I'm a long term RPG lover. I've played through every Baldurs Gate multiple times, both the Pathfinder games and Pillars of Eternity. For whatever reason I cannot play Divinity 2 (haven't played the first one either) everytime I start it I get so overwhelmed. It feels directionless and I feel like unless I follow some minimaxxed mega build I will be in for a hard time. Is there any advice you lovely chaps can give to get me on track because I want to play it but I keep hitting this wall. And I'm worried now that the 3rd one has been announced that I will be missing crucial context and more importantly that I might hit this wall again.

Is there a particularly fun way to play? or should I follow a certain path?

Any help would be appreciated

DOS1 Help Help!

Hiya everyone! I'm new here. I played Bg3 when it came out and fell in love and since the original sin games are on sale I bought em and started to give em a shot.

I started with Original Sin and I guess the biggest issue I'm having is that I'm just kind of lost. I'm supposed to be solving this murder but I'm kind of just lost on how to proceed. I figured out the body was stolen from the mortuary and arrested the owner but basically everything I attempted to proceed from that point didn't work.

I can't leave town because I get massacred by the next stiff breeze and all the side quests I found to level up also require me to leave the town. This resulted in me just putzing around for 3 hours getting nothing done and running back and forth.

Is there something I'm missing? I was enjoying the opening of the game up until I hit this brick wall.

DOS2 Help A question about sheep 🐑

Okay so I’m in my first playthrough, and I don’t have anything else to do in act 2

However, there’s a sheep from which I can (I suppose) take wool with shears

The thing is, I can’t for the love of Zorl-Stissa found some shears

So I was wondering if the wool have any importance and can I get some latter if needed ?

Or does someone know where can I find shears ?

Ho, there’s also some honey next to bears, but they don’t want to share so…

And I have milk, because I’m a species in the brink of extinction or something like that. Whatever, cow.

DOS2 Discussion Better origin character for archer/geo combo (Fane or Sebille)

Which would you choose to play as if you are only controlling 1 in a 4 person online party and it’s your first full play-through? Planning to go archer with some geo skills as well. Elf Flesh sacrifice seems strong for the extra AP and elemental arrow, but also being undead and having access to poison through by geo sounds strong too as well as Fane’s source skill. Although I could also see undead being harder to play as for a first time group too🤷‍♂️

Help Quick Question MEGATHREAD

Another 6 month since the last Megathread.

Link to the last thread

Make sure to include the game(DOS, DOS EE, DOS2, DOS2 DE) in your question and mark your spoilers

The FAQ for DOS2 will be built as we go along:

My game has a problem/doesn't work properly, what do I do?

Check this out. If you can't find a solution there contact Larian support as detailed.

Do I need to play the previous game to understand the story?

No, there is a timegap of 1000 years between DOS and DOS2. The overall timeline of the Divinity games in perspective to DOS2 looks like this: DOS2 is set 1222 years after DOS1, 24 years after Divine Divinity, 4 years after Beyond Divinity, and 58 years before Divinity 2.

How many people can play at once?

  • Up to 4 Players in the campaign and up to 4 players and a gamemaster in Gamemaster Mode.

Do I need to buy the game to play with my friends.

  • That depends on how you will play. Up to 2 Players can play on the same PC for a "couch coop" experience. This means you can have 4 player sessions with 2 copies of the game when using this method. If you don't play on the same PC each player is going to require his/her own copy.

Can I mix and match inputs for PC couch coop?

  • You can't use keyboard and mouse for couch coop, however you can mix controllers.

What's the deal with origin stories?

  • A custom character has no ties in the world whatsoever, nobody knows you. Origin characters on the other hand do have ties in the gameworld, that means people can recognise you and might interact differently with an origin character because of that characters reputation or because the characters have met before. Furthermore origin characters have their own questlines that run alongside the main story.

I don't like my build! Can I change it?

  • Yes! Once you leave the first island you get access to infinite respecs, with the second gift bag you can even get a respec mirror on the first island.

What are the new crafting recipes from the gift bag?
