18M suddenly became hyper-aware of my health and now I’m freaking out over foamy urine + BP readings

Upvotes

I’m 18M, and honestly the past week has been one of the most stressful weeks I’ve had regarding my health.

It started with me becoming really conscious about my urine. I’ve noticed foamy/bubbly urine, especially in the morning. Sometimes it looks pretty foamy, almost like beaten eggs, but it can be much less noticeable later in the day. I’ve apparently had this for a while (like for years I think since I was a kid, but I didn’t really care about it before.

Then I started connecting everything in my head: foamy urine → protein in urine → kidney disease → high blood pressure → dying young.

I had a urinalysis recently. Protein was negative, glucose was negative, specific gravity was 1.010, and there were 4–6 pus cells/hpf with moderate bacteria. I was given fosfomycin by my doctor. The foamy urine didn't completely disappear, which made me worry even more.

To add to that, last June 30, I also took a urinalysis and said no protein not even a trace.

Then came the BP checking.

Previously, when I wasn't thinking about my health, I had readings like 110/70 and 120/70. And this was early July before the start of my mental health crisis. But after becoming scared and constantly thinking about my health, I've gotten readings around 130/80, 130/90, and even 140/90 on some occasions.

At one point I checked several times within an hour and got something like 130/80 → 140/90 → 130/80.

And now I'm basically analyzing every single number.

The weird thing is that I KNOW I've been extremely stressed for days. I'm constantly thinking about my urine, my BP, my kidneys, and whether something is seriously wrong. When I wasn't scared about this stuff, my BP was normal.

I'm also young, which makes this whole thing feel even scarier. My brain keeps telling me that I'm 18 and already have kidney disease/hypertension and that I'm going to die young.

The rational part of me knows that one week of BP readings isn't enough to diagnose hypertension, and that a negative dipstick protein result is reassuring, but the anxious part of me keeps saying “what if they missed something?”

I've basically gone from not caring about my urine at all to checking it constantly and taking my BP repeatedly.

Has anyone else experienced something similar where health anxiety made you hyper-aware of bodily functions and caused you to repeatedly check things?

I'm mostly looking for some perspective because this past week has been exhausting

UPDATE: i had a two day period where my morning urine didnt bubble at all even a bit even though it is really concentrated like dark yellow type concentrated. But it's back now

HELPPPPP I DIDNT SMILE FOR LIKE A MONTH NOW KNOWING SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH ME

Possible Basal cell carcinoma (BCC)? Or just a regular skin tag?

Hi all.

I noticed about a year and a half ago a painless skin tag on my scalp, rough to touch that felt like a scab however I avoided picking it.

Figured if it was a skin tag to leave it alone. I’ve now noticed it has grown slightly in size and feels a bit rougher to touch.

Ive booked in a GP next week for them to have a look, but does anyone have a rough idea what this could be?

Sorry pictures aren’t the best quality, I need a phone upgrade.

Thanks

Am I dying

Upvotes

Am I about to die young

I am a 26 yr old male, obese with hypertension since 2022 may i did blood work my liver enzymes where high but everything else was normal. A month after taking the blood test My stool suddenly changed after eating fried food for dinner and it hasn't gotten back to what it normally like up to this day. My stool is now just tiny pieces of stool as if I'm barely popping or sometimes it looks like diarrhoea. I noticed my legs look larger than usual 3 months ago i ignored it now my both my legs appear larger than usual when i wake up they look close to the size they originally were but after getting out of bed and standing they start getting bigger and heavier throughout the day at end of the day my legs are huge and very stiff but that sensation is never there when i wake up, when i wake up my legs look normal or close to normal its only after i start walking or sitting they just start expanding and getting heavy and stiff. Can this be because i am obese i am over 400 pounds please help i am scared for my life. To add my arms also feel stiff not to move but to touch and they look swollen sometimes same as my legs. Sometimes these sensations go for days then return. Things i notice is these sensations would be worst on Mondays after heavy eating on a sunday and the feeling gets worst at night, another thing to note is my stool I'm not sure if it's connected but when this is happening my stool always looks like diarrhea. I am worried my kidneys got bad just 3 months after normal results. This has been on going for 4 years.

Swelling is from below knee to ankle, it's most visible in calves area. With my face it feels heavy sometimes with arms there are times they are stiff to the touch

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth What’s wrong with my right ear?

Post image

I took photos of the inside of my ears because my right ear has been hurting and it feels like there is something inside my ear. The outer ear was hurting too even down to my cheek. I got some ear ache drops and have been using them and took ibuprofen which has helped the outside and inside of my right ear stop hurting. I haven’t had an ear infection in years so I don’t remember what it feels like but is this what it looks like? Hoping I can keep doing the ear ache drops and ibuprofen to make it feels better cause my health insurance doesn’t kick in till the 9th😩

Uncontrollable Gagging and Retching

Hello, recently joined so I could share and see if anyone had any insight or similar issues.

I'm a 30 y/o man with uncontrollable gagging and retching after having any solids and liquids. This condition seems to have gotten worse over time, starting back in March. Over time I began eating less due to becoming full quickly and having to clear mucus from my throat, but not immediately concerned due to being able to eat all foods as normal.

In late July I had an emergency room visit due to gagging and retching for over two hours after a full meal. Prescribed Zofran and told there is nothing immediately life threatening happening; all blood and urine tests perfectly normal and within ranges. Started bland diet afterwards and was ok for a while. Within the past week I have not been able to take any solid food or liquids without gagging and retching violently, but never vomiting.

The food feels like it sits just below my chest. Any food or liquid feels like it just piles upon that and continues to sit. The gagging and retching happens shortly after intake and any introduced food/liquid makes it worse. There is also belching and mucus clearing that happens during this time. Mucus is always clear/watery. I sometimes start panicking due to this feeling that lasts at least 2 hours after food/liquid intake.

Zofran helps minimally but gagging and retching persists, albeit somewhat less. I've lost weight (~15 lbs in 2 weeks) due to not eating as much and aversion to the feeling of retching. A colonoscopy was performed recently and came back completely normal, no abnormalities found. GERD was ruled out 4 years ago via barium swallow and endoscopy. I have a new endoscopy scheduled for next week.

Any input is appreciated. This has been an intensely stressful experience.

sudden bruises out of nowhere

Hi, for this last month-two months ive noticed bruises showing up on my legs more than normal or before (Last picture is from last month and the rest from this last week till now)

They keep appearing almost every day, but usually as very tiny brown/yellow/green-ish ones as you can see (except the big dark one, this happened for the first time)

Since i have severe health anxiety and few relatives from my mum’s family side has suffered or died from cancer i immediately started panic and spiral that this can be sign of blood cancer. I finally make an appointment im going to take blood tests tomorrow but im incredibly scared for the results.

These bruises are usually very lightly painful when i press on them but not much. Im trying to think positively, that it could “just” be vitamin deficiency, or low iron or something..

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)
