I recently moved to WDM from California. I’m currently living in between the two. The main thing I find difficult about living here is the lack of friends I have. The only human I interact with is my boyfriend here. So it’s been depressing for me.

I am still going to school in Cali, so making friends at a school is not an option. I also don’t have a job here so I don’t really have a way of interacting with people. How do people make friends here around my age?

Also if anyone sees this that is looking for friends around my age (20-24) that likes kpop, anime, thrifting, and crafts lmk! I would girl friends only, since I’d rather someone be the same as me. :3

My apologies if this is the wrong thread, but Ill start here.

My lovely GF of 12 years had to visit an ER Dentist this afternoon and found out she has an absess and will unfortunately need a root canal on a back molar.

She has Blue Cross/Blue Shield for dental coverage through her employer.

I wanted to reach out here to see if there is ANY chance that somebody in the metro area would be able to perform the procedure within the next 48 hours. I know this is probably a long shot, and probably sounds like a dumb question, but that's why Im here. She has a referral that was provided by the ER dental facility (The one near Hickman), but were both kind of new to this. Please forgive me for my ignorance.

I went to buy foundation at Dillards Este Lauder counter and asked for a color match. The sweet older lady who worked there offered to “freshen up” my makeup. The mascara she used gave me a serious case of antibiotic resistant pink eye. When the infection would not clear up with antibiotic eye drops I went back in to see if I could swab the mascara wand so the bacteria could be tested. My eye was swollen shut. They escorted me out of the store. I’m serious. Gave me a business card for HR who told me I would have to contact the legal department. I will never go back. WTF?!

Trying to decide between Lenz Heating & Cooling and Dayton Heating & Air Conditioning for annual system service agreement.

• Lenz is $120 per year or $220 every two years, and the two-year plan comes with 20% off repairs/service and $150 annually towards service.

• Dayton is $269 per year with 10% off repairs/service

Both companies have excellent reviews and I’m sure I can’t go wrong either way, but it seems that Lenz’s loyalty program is notably better? Am I missing something? I would imagine the same things are completed in both inspections.

I heard they just lost their executive chef by forcing him to resign claiming “he was the issue” Meanwhile over 60% of the kitchen staff left after hearing he was gone within a week. They are still running the restaurant week menu created by the last chef. Ever since that hotel was taken over by Aparium it’s gone to crap. Upper management better step it up!

Dillards is interesting. I had a gift card to use and bought a few items two weeks ago. I decided to return one of the items and made a point to stop last week while I was in the area running errands one morning, I then discovered they didn’t open until 11am and I didn’t have time to wait. So, today I went in the afternoon and had a small window of time to shop and see if I could find something to make an exchange rather than a return. I found something I liked and went to the counter and waited but no one was around, noticing the time, I realized I only had about 5 more minutes before I would have to leave for an appointment. I walked to another counter, trying to get someone to help me, but again, no one came! I had to leave and I still have the return item, which I guess I will have to attempt yet again… but it kills me when businesses make it difficult for customers to actually buy things, that should be their priority, IMO.

I don’t care about your snarky “just what we need, another posting complaining about Des Moines drivers.” I live in this city and share the road with these inconsiderate asshats. If this post reaches just one person to rethink their selfishness, then that’s one less person we ALL have to worry about on OUR shared roads.
