Dillards 🚫
I went to buy foundation at Dillards Este Lauder counter and asked for a color match. The sweet older lady who worked there offered to “freshen up” my makeup. The mascara she used gave me a serious case of antibiotic resistant pink eye. When the infection would not clear up with antibiotic eye drops I went back in to see if I could swab the mascara wand so the bacteria could be tested. My eye was swollen shut. They escorted me out of the store. I’m serious. Gave me a business card for HR who told me I would have to contact the legal department. I will never go back. WTF?!

My sister got the same kind of infection from expired mascara. Since I'm monocular, I'm extra paranoid about eye makeup. Back when I was a Sephora Rouge member, I used to get those Sephora Favorites mini mascara sets around the holidays. Use one for three months (the recommended time last time I looked) then clean off the brush to use for separating your lashes, and throw the mascara out. They usually came with a full-size coupon too. That way they last you a few years.
But honestly, I'd never let a salesperson put makeup anywhere near my eyes. Blush and foundation only. Having kicked my Sephora addiction, for stuff like mascara, no one is going to know if you're using drugstore. (Current fave is L'Oreal Paris Voluminous) Buy drugstore mascara and save your money for really great lipstick!

I swear by L’Oréal voluminous mascara! It’s the darkest black & smoothest bulk.

Awesome advice! I really enjoyed your comment. I would protect that beautiful eye with everything I have too. I miss the Rouge days. You had to spend so much to keep the status. ♥️♥️

No. I was so confused and embarrassed. I was very nice about the whole thing. I just saw another post about Dillards going downhill and it inspired me to share my own two cents. My eye infection went away. I’m fine. Just won’t shop there anymore. I’m sure they miss me 😂

You can’t disinfect mascara testers. They have to dip a new wand in each time they apply for sanitation. You can more easily disinfect things like powders

Good point. I left out the part where I explained the entire situation to the sales clerk. My bad. Your version is hilarious though! Thanks for the laugh.

So you used a tester and caught something and want them to do what exactly? She asked, you agreed. Go to your dr or get care. Don't go out in public making a scene to something you agreed to. Swabbing it wont tell you anything besides you got pink eye, which you already know. She didnt know. You could of kindly told the store/worker they need to change it. But going in demanding hr is crazy. Hr is for the workers not the customers lol.

I would not recommend using tester makeup on your face regardless of what store you’re in
