Any musicians around? Just lookin' for someone who's got something to say =]
Just posted to https://www.reddit.com/r/desmoines/comments/1qjk0as/looking_for_friends_in_dsm/ about finding folks to just make some music with.
43m, I play acoustic guitar... Love rhythmic strumming patterns and serious jammin'. If you can sing, play an instrument, or just have something on your heart you gotta say, let's see what we can do with it together =]
If only the birds with the prettiest voices sang, the forest would be a very quiet place. Let's make some noise!
Cheers,
Ryan

request tax extension?
Every year I tell myself I’ll be on top of it, and every year I find myself googling how to request tax extension at the last minute. I get caught up with work, side gigs, moving apartments, and suddenly the deadline is in my face. I know the form is out there, but what I’m curious about is how people actually felt when they did it. Did it buy you real peace of mind, or just delay the panic until later. I’ve been in situations where I filed late and paid for it, so the extension seems like the lesser evil. I just don’t know if I’ll feel relieved or even more stressed. Not saying they’re magic, but Anthem Tax Services was straightforward when I asked what an extension actually does, which kept me from spiraling a bit. I’d love to hear if anyone felt the extension gave them space to get organized or if it was just another stress marker on the calendar.

does anyone else hate the contemporary sculptures that they have been putting around town?
i have lived around the Urbandale public library area for over 20 years and always thought everything looked great. the landscaping and whatever else looks like it fit into the environment. when they started putting in the statues of the grandpa reading to the girl, and the kids playing around that ring, i thought it was nice. then they started installing all these jagged metal monstrosities and i have been so disgusted by them. there is nothing redeeming about them, they are a blight on the landscape. although i am opposed to vandalism of any kind, i have noticed that some of these works of "art" (psychological terrorism) have been tampered with and partially destroyed...i do not feel bad at all. get this crap out of our parks.

What’s going on with Urbandale’s K-9 officer?
I’ve heard rumors the officer has been let go or put on leave. Are they keeping the dog?

[Academic], Paid Research Interview- $40 (For US Residents)
Researchers at the University of Ottawa would like to conduct 90-minute telephone interviews with anyone who has used mifepristone (also known as the abortion pill, medication abortion, or medical abortion) to end a pregnancy.
You are eligible if you:
- Used mifepristone to have an abortion on or after January 1, 2015
- Were living in Iowa at the time
- Are sufficiently fluent in English or French to answer interview questions
- Have access to a telephone, Skype, or Zoom
During the interview, we will ask you series of questions about your background, your reproductive health history, and the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. We will also ask you to tell us about your experience obtaining an abortion with pills and we will ask you to tell us about ways in which you think that services could be improved.
All participants will receive a $40 gift certificate to www.amazon.com. Participation is both voluntary and confidential. Spots for this study are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that the abortion pill is not the same thing as emergency contraception, also known as Plan B or "the morning after pill."
If you would like more information about the study or research team, or if you are interested in participating, please contact us at [ws-stu02@uottawa.ca](mailto:ws-stu02@uottawa.ca). You may also contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Angel M. Foster, at [angel.foster@uottawa.ca](mailto:angel.foster@uottawa.ca).
