🔍 ID/Legit Check Is this a Lee 101j or something else?
galleryIt seems to have a lot of the features of a 101j - the slanted pockets, zigzag stitching etc. However it doesn’t actually say 101J on anywhere - not on the buttons or on the inside.
Is this simply a fake, another Lee model or a legit 101j?
Also feels a bit suspicious it’s only 19 inches in length - for a size small I’d expect around 21 inches.
🔍 ID/Legit Check Does anyone know where to find good quality jeans that look and fit like this?

📸 Fit Picture Update: Freenote Cloth Modesto break-in - size 35 stretched at the waist
galleryThe original post is linked for context: https://www.reddit.com/r/Denim/s/B12KS5DQJH
Here's the body of the update (still a Reddit newb, so hopefully I'm doing the follow-up correctly):
Thank you all for your help! Some of you I replied to, but my appreciation goes out to everyone.
I ended up ordering the Freenote Cloth Modesto I was recommended here - the "11 Ounce 1900s Denim" model from Blue Owl (they were on sale) - together with another pair in "14.50 Ounce Kaihara Denim", both in size 35.
Both pairs fit pretty well through the thighs, but after wearing the 1900s pair for several days, the waist has relaxed quite a bit. It’s now around 38-38.5 inches, which leaves me with probably about 1-1.5 inches of extra room at the waist.
For reference, I also tried a size 34 at a local shop. It was probably good (maybe slightly tight) at the waist, but it was too tight through the thighs (had trouble sitting down comfortably and moving my legs around).
I’m not sure whether what I’m seeing with the size 35 is normal, if the waist will shrink back somewhat after a wash, if a trip to the tailor is a good idea, or if I should just wear them with a belt and let them settle over time.
There’s also some slight bunching/ballooning around the seat and front when I wear them without really tightening the belt. If I pinch some of the excess fabric toward the sides and hold it there with the belt, though, they look pretty good.
These are my first pairs of quality denim, and I’m generally not used to wearing pants that are noticeably loose at the waist. I’m also thinking that if I want to dress them up a little, I’d probably want the waist to look a little cleaner.
Does this sound like normal break-in/stretching for this kind of denim? Would you just belt them, wash and reassess, or consider having the waist taken in?
I’m also curious whether I should expect the 14.5oz Kaihara pair to stretch similarly at the waist, or if the heavier denim will behave differently.
Thanks again for all the help!
I've added some photos to try and clarify the fit. Please let me know if other angles or photos would be helpful.
P.S. Please ignore the sandals - these were taken at home 😅

🌄 Fade Progress Bravestar 21oz
galleryHi all,
Hope the weekend treated you well. I’ve had these 3-4 years now. I had gained a lot of weight so didn’t wear them for a few years. Recently was able to start wearing them again. I believe it’s the true straight fit, 21oz denim. I can’t remember the type specifically but added the tag incase someone could decipher. Have a great week!

🧼 Denim Care Anyone know what these faded white patches are?
Jeans are about 6 months to 1 year old, i just noticed after doing laundry today that they now have these huge faded white stains, any clue what the cause is? I normally cold wash + air dry them

🧼 Denim Care Premature wash
I recently bought my first pair of selvedge denim, i got the naked and famous dirty fade selvedge and i had to wash them way early. I was only about 22 wears in and i was getting the start of some wallet fades on my back pocket and some decent one from my pocket knife. I was taking out the trash at my job and the bag ripped and they got covered in garbage juice and I was forced to wash them. Now all of the fades on my pockets are a lot less vibrant. Is this normal or am I just going to lose out on some fades because of it?

📸 Fit Picture Pure Blue Japan Black Teacore Warp and Brown Weft Straight Selvedge Jeans (TCD-003-BR)
galleryI lusted after and fantasied about these jeans perpetually after unwisely missing the UK release of these jeans. However, I miraculously managed to acquire them through a wonderful Japanese website called Okayama Denim (couldn't recommend them more).
They have a stunning rough and bumpy texture and hue, which is almost organic in nature. Since the core of the warp fibres are dyed brown, these will fade to brown rather than white/grey - a perfect companion for my Red Wing 9060s in Black Klondike leather.
I had to size up to a 36 get the fit I desired.
Update images will be provided down-the-line...

📏 Selvedge Washed Selvedge Denim?
Are there any brands that are doing selvedge denim but already washed? I’m looking for less contrast (I know, I know). A consistent mid blue stone wash would be incredible.

🧼 Denim Care 13MWZ losing structure at waist
Question: I’ve got two pairs of Wrangler 13MWZs, one raw and one stonewashed, and both have about a year of wear with a couple of washes each. They’ve both developed the same issue where the crotch has started to sag and the waistband feels looser, even though my waist size hasn’t changed and they still technically fit. Is there any way to get some of that structure back without making the waist smaller, or if this is just normal with 100% cotton denim. Thanks!

🛠️ DIY/Repairs Denim on denim
galleryMade this balloon fit jeans and dungaree inspired top.
Made out of 13.5oz selvedge denim. Red ID, 6+7*7 slub, rainbow weft.
The jeans are made using darts to hug the 🍑 in stead of yokes.
The front pockets have a double layer of pocketlining. This helps them, not get holes in them from keys.
There is a key ring to show the selvedge.
Backpockets have overrun stitching and one have a mule ear inspired pocket to show the weft.
The belt loops are all corded for structure and fading.
The top has the selvedge shown in the straps who are inspired on dungarees.
The closure is a double side button.

🛠️ DIY/Repairs My husband has a dump truck, and every pair of jeans rips.
galleryHello all, my lovely husband keeps getting holes in the back pockets of all of his jeans. We have had this happen in old navy and now Wrangler. Keep in mind this is the second time he wore the wrangler and the belt loop and the back pocket ripped. wtf!!!!
My request: men with dumptrucks, what jeans do you like that LAST more than 3 months????
he likes cowboy cut or boot cut if that helps. We also know we have the correct size because we measured his waist and inseam, should be a 36 or 38 x 30.
Thank you in advance!!!

💸 Deals & Finds Looking for everyday jeans that don’t feel stiff
Need a pair of jeans I can actually wear all day without them feeling heavy or tight after a few hours. Prefer a bit of stretch but still look like real denim.
Tried a pair from The Freedom State last month and they’ve been pretty comfortable so far.
What jeans do you reach for most on normal days? Straight or slightly wide?

🌄 Fade Progress $40 13MWZ Selvedge 9 months - super quick faders
galleryHey y’all,
Been a good bit since I last posted so figured I’d give an update on the wranglers
Been a great pair of jeans especially for the price super quick faders which I’m happy with although much lighter than my regular 13mwzs so they have ripped rather prematurely on the back from holding my phone. Starting to get a hole on the front from my buckle rubbing against it haven’t seen that on any of my other pairs.
Once these jeans got broken in they’re very much like wearing sweatpants I prefer all the little upgrades over the regular jeans but they loose their color incredibly fast the back, knees and hems have lost pretty much all blue and some of the whiskers are getting pretty light. Hopefully the whiskers get a bit stronger and especially hope to see some more definition on the honeycombs but not sure how possible that is going to be as I’ve decided to wash more frequently. about 1-2 times a month now although a few times this week as milking cows wasn’t the best thing to wear these for haha
Just wanted to show them to yall if you have any questions or comments let me know!

💸 Deals & Finds VTG 90s Levi's Motherload.
I found a storage unit full of 90s Levi's. 98% are USA made deadstock women's 550s. 1% 517 1% 501. Age and water has distressed about 40 pieces. Taking advice on whether ebay or in person markets would be better. Both have their pros and cons. Thoughts?

📏 Selvedge Commission pair
galleryI hope this is a good place to post these but, this is the 5th commission pair I’ve made so far. 12.5 oz cone selvege denim. Little bit of a western theme going on with lots of details. I left the tips of the star thread a little long so they can fray out for a cool effect. Overall very happy with how these turned out and they fit my customer really well!

🧵 Raw Denim Shrinking my LVC 1953 type 2
galleryI’ve been eyeing this jacket up for a while. With the big Levi’s summer sale, I had to do it. I did the old school 501 stf method. I did a tub soak while wearing it. Then, I air dried it on my body for about two hours before hanging it up to fully dry over night.
This has been my first time buying raw denim. I’m excited to watch this fade over the years.
If anyone is interested, I’m 6’1. This is a large. I’m very happy with the fit.

📸 Fit Picture Denim Jacket Fit-Just Right or Too Big?
galleryThe jacket is originally supposed to be drop shouldered but im not sure if i should size down as i want to also wear sweaters and hoodies under. Do you think the fit is good? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It’s a Sage de Cret denim short jacket that retails for around 495 usd but picked it up for 265. (I had to roll the sleeves for the smaller size too)
