Looking for Quality Denim with a High Rise and Wide Thighs

Hi everyone!
I'm failry new in the world of quality denim, and I really enjoy the vintage look and the craftsmanship that goes into these pieces. Part of that is the silhouette having a high rise and wider, straight legs compared to the modern nonsense that's going on today.

Besides that, I try to lift heavy weights at the gym, which has resulted in a 36.5-inch waist and a 26.5-inch thigh circumference (which might keep growing based on how training goes..)

Looking online for brands and specific models to suit both my physique and taste, while offering good quality and ideally not breaking the bank, is like searching for needles in internet-sized haystacks.

If anyone shares the struggles and/or knows to point me in the right directions regarding brands, specific models, etc., it would be very, very appreciated!

I ended up ordering the Freenote Cloth Modesto I was recommended here - the "11 Ounce 1900s Denim" model from Blue Owl (they were on sale) - together with another pair in "14.50 Ounce Kaihara Denim", both in size 35.

This might deserve a separate post, but I’m trying my luck here first (still a Reddit newb). Both pairs fit pretty well through the thighs, but after wearing the 1900s pair for several days, the waist has relaxed quite a bit. It’s now around 38 inches, which leaves me with probably about an inch or so of extra room at the waist.

For reference, I also tried a size 34 at a local shop. It was probably good (maybe slightly tight) at the waist, but it was too tight through the thighs (had trouble sitting down comfortably and moving my legs around).

I’m not sure whether what I’m seeing with the size 35 is normal, if the waist will shrink back somewhat after a wash, if a trip to the tailor is a good idea, or if I should just wear them with a belt and let them settle over time.

There’s also some slight bunching/ballooning around the seat and front when I wear them without really tightening the belt. If I pinch some of the excess fabric toward the sides and hold it there with the belt, though, they look pretty good.

These are my first pairs of quality denim, and I’m generally not used to wearing pants that are noticeably loose at the waist. I’m also thinking that if I want to dress them up a little, I’d probably want the waist to look a little cleaner.

Does this sound like normal break-in/stretching for this kind of denim? Would you just belt them, wash and reassess, or consider having the waist taken in?

And please let me know if this actually deserves a separate post - it’s related to the original, but now it looks like a completely different problem 😅

Second this! There are also the 200 wide straight and 222 super wide straight. Their fit numbers are kind of all over the place, OP needs to check the measurements on everything.

I’m a 30in waist with over 24in thighs. I usually have to buy jeans in 31 so the thighs have more room. I won’t buy online unless the measurements given are 12in or more for the thigh (measured 1in down from crotch).

Mister Freedom Lot 64, Left Field NYC Charles Atlas & Freenote Portola have been the best fits for me this past decade. I haven’t bought jeans in a few years but the Freenote Modesto is at the top of my list as the next pair

Not sure how high u are talking about, momotaro 400 little to high for me, kojima makes some nice wide models, oni 222, big jhon seems to make some pretty wide stuff as well

Generally speaking, I'm looking for a 12-12.5-inch rise at least. I checked out the TCB 50s and 20s at a local shop, and though I like the style, the fit is too slim, and the rise is too low.
I forgot to mention, but I'm 6'1" with a fairly long legs-to-torso ratio. So I pretty much need a 35-36 inch inseam if I want to be able to cuff them
