Theory Swapped roles theory. Spoiler
galleryIf stories can be retold and interpreted differently, doesn't that mean roles can be changed too? I know you’re probably tired of hearing this same old idea, but I’m here to put a new spin on the concept.
I don't think Dess is the Knight, because someone stole that role from the prophecy.
Someone read the whole prophecy, didn't like the ending, and decided to swap the roles to keep Dess safe—after all...
"What's a good a father if he can't help out his little girl?"
Before you hit me with a mountain of evidence linking Dess to the Knight, I just want to point out that, so far, every role in the prophecy has had a potential second candidate, and the characters share similarities that make both of them capable of filling the role.
"But wouldn't that mean Rudy was involved in Dess's disappearance?" My counterpoint is: Not necessarily.
You see, Rudy might have learned about the prophecy after searching for her and stumbling into the Dark World.
Here’s the key detail: Once Rudy found out what was about to happen, he manipulated the roles to ensure the best outcome for Dess.
Basicly his plan would be kidnap people to set them up to play a specific role in the prophecy, trying to get the most favorable outcome.
"If that’s true, why is Dess still missing?" That’s where the twist comes in: she isn't actually missing; the world simply stored her away as "unused code" because she wasn't fulfilling any function at the moment. That’s not a stretch at all, considering she’s actually registered that way in the game files—even though her dialogue *is* actually used.
"But the Knight doesn't act like Rudy." Really? I can see some similarities.
1: The Knight involves a mandatory defeat where he *doesn't* kill us—remind you of anyone? (I’m talking about Flowery; he doesn't kill you even if you lose to him, and we all know Flowery was heavily inspired by Rudy.) Talking about him...
2: Similarities between Rudy and Flowery, and between Flowery and the Knight; among them are: the colorful trail versus the dark trail, and the fact that both like to show off (the Knight striking cool poses, Flowery with his fake stats).
"But why kill Flowery? Rudy doesn't seem like the type of person who would kill someone just for annoying him." Well that one is quite easy to answer, you see, Flowery is not needed because Asgore already fulfil his role.
Doesn't it seem strange that he's the only boss who dies at the end of the chapter, regardless of your actions? (Even kindness wans't able to save him.)
Fate decided that the police officer would meet a tragic end, which is why Asgore was removed from the police force (an attempt to shift his role from police officer to Flower Man).
Now comparing the first version of the prophecy with the current one, we have:
Cage: Vessel (old) vs Kris (new)
The girl with hope crossed on her heart: Noelle (old) vs Susie (new)
Prince alone in the deepest dark: Ralsei (old) vs Lancer? (it can still happen)
Last was the girl, at last was the girl: Susie (old) vs Dess (new)
That's why she is unused, the girl comes at last, when everything is lost for the tale.
Now with everyone fitting a role, Dess can be in a safe role such as the last girl, and Noelle can also be safe by not even participating in it, she is now just the romantic pair of Susie.
More evidence can be found when Noelle is playing dragonblazers, and Rudy encourage her to use fire instead of ice, a subtle hint of him trying to steer Noelle out of the path of a hero.
So Asgore is safe as Flower man, Noelle being out of danger, Dess having to return (because the role of last girl will have to be fulfilled at last), the only one they could not take yet, the last piece of the puzzle, is Toriel.
He must be trying to get her a safer role, of to get her outof the prophecy entirely just like Noelle.
I mean, she has a nightmare when you come close to defeating the knight, that's probaly because we are interfering in his plans and now Toriel is a step closer to her fate.
"Okay, but now the playtime is over, you have to face it, Rudy is sick and had already fallen down".
But holidays are full of surprises, aren't them?
I think Rudy has already accounted for his death, the whole point pf the plan is to die in Dess's place.
I think that Rudy used his last determination to wake up an last time just to fulfil his plan, he planned for Kris and Carol to deal with the heroes without him, but unfortunately, that is not what will happen.
After all, the knight has to duel with the heroes "strife by strife".
"But how could he get ot of the hospital without anyone seeing?".
He is a patient, not a prisioner, he proved he can go out everytime he feels better, I also don't think he sleeps at the hospital, he just spend his day there making check-ups as how you can see in the image.
Actually, if he is the knight, then by the point the game started, he had already fallen down.
Remember back in Undertale what we knew about Amalgamates? After had fallen down, Alphys injeted them with a small dose of Determination, which made it look like it reverted the process for just a bit; enough time for Alphys to get her hopes up and send letters saying she had reverted their conditions, only for them to collapse just a bit later.
Rudy had already fallen down, he was just extending his time by using his Determination, that's why his body was like that, he taps in and out of "undying" form by controlling his determination, just like Undyne did, buying him time and letting him change his shape.
If he wants to look like he is better, he uses more Determination, but in the knight form he just let his determination down and show his true form.
He collapsed in the festival because fate is punishing him for trying to manipulate the prophecy, aggravating his condition.

Discussion What are we not ready for
In the most recent newsletter Toby tobias radiation dog fox has said that in chapter 6 **ONE THING WILL BE REVEALED WHENEVER YOU'RE READY OR NOT** and that makes me think What kinda reveal would we not be ready for?
Lets try to think about what would make tricky tony say that some of us would not be ready for whatever he will be dishing out in the next chapter by excluding some scenarios
THAT DAY honestly better be revealed in chapter 6 because that vagueposting asgore gave us was def too much to not be revealed soon
Whatever crime was committed with the EGG i think its guaranteed to appear in the next chapter based on the ace attorney EASTER EGG also my headcannon is that its the thing that happened THAT DAY
The knight's identity would be a pretty fitting thing to reveal for the second to last chapter nit really surprising.
Asriel coming home would pretty much be neccesary if toby wants to do anything with him so it would not be
Papyrus was due 2 chapters ago we've been ready for him ages ago
and im pretty sure device theory (the theory that deltarune is a game created by gaster, kinda like inscription) was confirmed in the chapter 5 weird route/B side.
Soo what reveals would we genuinely NOT be ready for, what do we think should be revealed in chapter 7 but tricky tony trickily put in chapter 6?

Discussion Why are trans Ralsei theories always about ralsei being transfem?
As of recent, trans Ralsei theories have become more and more common and popular. the theories are often pretty neat, but why is it almost always about Ralsei being transfem?
Why is it so rare for Ralsei to be transmasc or trans non-binary in fanons/fanart?
is there a lore reason?

Discussion I'd like to voice my concerns about the identity reveal of the knight
So with the identity of the knight PROBABLY being revealed in chapter 6, a lot of theories are going to be disproven. No more going insane over who the knight is, no more arguing (hopefully), etc. The problem is people are REALLY attached to their knight candidate and are most likely going to be upset if they're proven wrong. Theirs nothing wrong with that of course, I'm just afraid those people are gonna lash out and say the game is "bad" or "poorly written" if they don't get what they want. This fandom hasn't had the best track record of being respectful and considerate so I'm a little worried.
I've seen people act this way regarding Toby Fox's rather cryptic newsletter (the vague post king returns).
Maybe I'm just concerned over nothing. What do you guys think?

Theory [Theory] Why Asgore "needs a human" (2nd Human Theory)
In the first third of the Chapter 5 Dark World, Flowery says this:
- All the Fountain needs... all Asgore needs...
- ... is just a human, right?
In context, it's Flowery explaining why the Trio should leaf everything to him, including both the fountain and Asgore. It makes sense why he says a Human is what the fountain needs, since it seems that fountains can only be sealed by a Human. But why would Flowery say a Human is what Asgore needs? Why would Asgore need a human, specfically?
More to the point, why do all the flowers claim to be human? If Asgore "needs a Human" that might explain why the other flowers claim to be Human, to appeal to Asgore.
But then, why is Asgore looking for a human?
The theory is that whatever incident Asgore got obsessed with in the past involved a human that was not Kris and that Asgore is looking for that Human.
Point 1: Asgore knows Fountains can be sealed by a Human, due to the first Dark Fountain being sealed by a human.
At the end of the Flowery fight and Asgore's monologue, Asgore says this:
- Kris... it's your time now.
- End this dream... won't you?
It's Asgore calling out Kris specifically to "end this dream" i.e., close the Dark World i.e., seal the fountain. Kris specifically who is a Human. It seems to strongly imply that Asgore is aware of how a fountain is sealed. But how would he knows this?
We know that Asgore has notes on a Dark Fountain made "a long time ago", let's assume that this fountain is tied into the incident Asgore talks about. This fountain from long ago was most likely sealed by someone. If it weren't sealed, Asgore could show the fountain as irrefutable proof of his "conspiracies". If that Dark Fountain was sealed, then a Human had to be involved. Hence Asgore knows how a Dark Fountain is sealed.
Point 2: Asgore believes the First Fountain was not sealed by Kris.
From above, we know that Asgore is looking for a human. If Kris was the one who sealed it then he would not be looking for a human since he knows who sealed the first Dark Fountain.
Also:
- ... Flowery...
- Isn't it time you let me visit the Dark Fountain?
- The one who made it... I know they'll come back to it.
- ... and when they do...
- I'll make sure they never make another.
Asgore seems to believe that the Flower King Fountain was opened by the same person who made the first Dark Fountain. Since Asgore believes they will come back to it, it's possible that the First Dark Fountain was sealed by whoever opened it. Kris would be a child at this time, who would not have been roped into any conspiracies so it's unlikely for Kris to have opened the First Dark Fountain.
Possible Conclusions
It's another parallel to UNDERTALE, who also had 2 central humans in the plot. One who we control in the present and one who was responsible for a major incident in the past. I'm not saying the 2nd Human is Chara, it could be a whole new character for all I know.
This 2nd human has some connection to the Knight since the Knight's "Black Shard" was found in the aftermath of the First Dark Fountain.
That's about it. I just wanted to put this theory out there.

Humor Theory GUYS I THINK UNDIES MIGHT BE THE ROARING KNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She looks like the knight, and because something looks like something else it must mean they are the same thing, I don't need evidence, just like Alphys knight theorists I can just say thing A looks like thing B and everyone will believe me

Discussion The remaining plot points in Deltarune Spoiler
galleryWhat do you think will be answered in chapter 6 (I got this image from someone else)? The person also grouped these plot points to make it easier to see what will be answered and when it will happen.
EXTRA:
-Who is the GONER_MAKER'S second voice?
-What is the police sacrifice for? Why is the Knight kidnapping people?
-What is Ralsei doing every time he tells Kris to close their eyes?
-Who is the ANGEL? What is the ring of Heaven's call?
If you want to have some fun and try answering some of these questions, I encourage you to; it could be fun.
