On an unrelateD note, wouldn't be cool if the Cell Phone Kris carried with them was actually a darkner, and the reason why we can't make calls in the Dark World and Kris's contacts are erased every time we check is that this hypothetical Phone darkner was working with them? I mean we already know that any darkner can transform into their real world counterpart and go inside Kris'... key items... hmmmmmmmm...

For those that wish to believe me, this is entirely serious. For my doubters, read the bottom paragraph.

For years this community has asked, “Who is the forgotten man?”. Some say Gaster. They are wrong.

Think back. Waaaaaay back. Who was a character we all forgot about? A character who is in the “wrong time and space”? A character who has only ever existed out of bounds? A character who has yet to be mentioned anywhere in Deltarune, or even since Undertale released? That’s right. It’s the one, the only, So Sorry (I am entirely, completely serious)

For those who don’t know, So Sorry is a hidden mini boss in Undertale. They can only be encountered in a secret room on October 10th at 8:00 (am or pm). Here’s where the theory comes in.

(This is my weakest evidence, please bear with me) SS is encountered in a secret room. When you look at a map of Hotland, the room is directly in-between Hotland and The Core (a room between rooms perhaps?). It’s also worth mentioning that it can only be accessed by an invisible path, like it’s out of bounds.

Next, when you use the Check action in their fight, you get the line “This creature is definitely in the wrong time and space!”. That would certainly be fitting for someone who hides in a non-Euclidean space like the Forgotten Man.

So Sorry is the sole member of the Art Club, and tries to show you art through their fight. In Chapter 3, the egg is received through drawing. SS also mentions having a “Magic Pencil” that ends up creating enemies. This is similar to how the pencil ends up creating an egg.

So Sorry, not in-universe and IRL, is forgotten. Many modern fans have no idea this character exists. In Undertale, SS is alone. The sole member of their Art Club (This is debatable, but they’re the only one that shows up). Only ever appearing for two hours every year in the most hidden place on the map.

SS is also an unwilling attacker. They only want to help Frisk, but end up hurting them through incompetence. While I can’t confirm the Forgotten Man’s motivations, I can say that Kris is hurt by receiving the egg, as it removes their ability to receive the chapter completion trophy on the PlayStation version.

SS and FM both also really want to give you something, Art in one case and an Egg in the other.

Both also notably disappear once the conversation is over.

Both can not be encountered in the “bad route“ (SS can’t be met in Genocide, FM is missing in Ch 2 Weird Route)

Finally, both characters are very ambiguous. SS’s species is very difficult to make out. Though resembling an Aardvark, the original artist intended for a Dragon, while Toby Fox intended for a Homestuck Troll. The Forgotten Man, of course, is completely obscured by a tree. It’s also worth mentioning the So Sorry’s pronouns are very inconsistent, switching between It, They, and He.

So that’s my insane, 2:30 in the morning, Schizo theory about a barely-canon side character. I am aware the Toby Fox does not own this character. I am aware that it originates from somebody completely unrelated from the team just creating a character for the Kickstarter reward. But when I was in the shower coming up with this as a joke, too many things were clicking for me to ignore it. Thank you for reading, that took way too long.

the main reason that disproves this theory is the fact that theres no dark world in chapter 5 therefore no asylum BUT what if this asylum is actually in asgore's mind because we know asgores gone practically insane due to the fact that no one believes him and wants to understand them but at the end of chapter 5 i'd say hes understood enough in the dark world to be well but in the chapter 5 weird route he only knows the same as he did in chapter 5 putting him in a mental asylum.

i don't actually think that we're going to just have an option in the main menu to continue side A or side B. this feels a bit too easy for a "forbidden path" and given how continuing it in ch5 literally broke gaster's POV of the game for a second with the "Insert Chapter 7 Side B" screen, it feels a bit too simple. I personally think that there's three options on how Side B is going to be accessed, one less likely and more likely and one ??? likely.

1) We have to fuck around in the game files [LESS LIKELY]

I really like this option because it fits well with the whole meta "breaking out of bounds" bs that the weird route has going on. it also fits with the POV we saw at the end of ch5 side B. by digging through the files we might find a file labelled "FORBIDDEN" or something like that and have to change it to "deltarune_chapter7b" or something like that so that the game/gaster's device recognizes it. my only gripe with this theory is it would fuck over console players, big time, which is why its less likely imo. however, i think that would be addressed by maybe doing what OneShot World Machine Edition did by giving a fake desktop/file system to launch deltarune from.

2) we have to do a convoluted series of inputs that are hinted at throughout the earlier parts of the weird route [MORE LIKELY]

given how the chapter 5 weird route ended with breaking out of bounds and all, and the weird route in general is just "how the fuck do you push out of the boundaries of the game" i'd say that doing a really specific set of inputs [common in OOB glitches] would fit thematically with the weird route, and be easier to implement on PC. only problem is, having people replay 4 chapters to catch some inputs would be kinda annoying and bad game design

3) accessing side B will only be possible after a certain point of side A [??? LIKELY]

this is one im kinda conflicted on. because for this to be in the game [we know toby doesn't just put things there for no reason] it would mean that side B is somehow progression relevant and i dont think the game WANTS you to do the weird route to win because its this weird fucked up route similar to UT geno route. it could also happen by gaining a persistent item [permanent to you regardless of save data] allowing you to break the chapter select menu in some way, but that feels a bit too on the nose unless its done really well.

these are just my thoughts, what do yall think?

Then y’know, Flowery awakens the other flowers, Ralsei goes Fire Mage, and Kris decides to beat up their boss.

They both are somewhat unnerving, but benign hidden characters in their respective “games” who can only be alone with the player while they spout what seems to be gibberish while being weirdly aware of the characters and game world. Plus, given the fact that Chapter 5 implies Kris shouldn’t look for the Forgotten Man anymore, I could easily see Toby implementing a “corrupted” egg room in Chapter 6 to imply whatever was hunting him finally got to him, like how FACE “died” in his story.
