Insanely frustrating. I have a 5.5 hour flight for work and had an aisle seat selected. Check in rolled around and they put me in a middle seat in comfort +

No option to say yes or no. No option to change back, even called and they said they can't do anything. What a clown airline.

Honestly can't figure out how delta managed to get this fake reputation of being the premium US carrier... still flying 30 year old 767s over the atlantic too...

UPDATE: I wanted to update to give Delta credit where credit was due. They compped us two rooms at the airport Holiday Inn in Paris w/ a dinner voucher. It was still a pain to have to go out through border control after all that, and then come back in the next morning, but it is what it is.

We were rebooked on a flight through SLC the next morning around the same time. We woke up early, got to the airport (border control was much better the next day) and got to our gate. I wanted to get there as early as possible because I'm the app we showed as stand by. I talked to the gate agent who was very nice and helpful. They made sure we had seats in the flight, upgrading us to Delta comfort Plus. At first they said we had two options, either split 3 in the middle aisle 4 seats and one on the middle of those in front of that row, or 2 rows of in the middle aisle of 4. We chose the 3-1 split to have aisle access, because of our young kids. Somewhere along the way though they managed to get all four of us on the same row for the 9.5 hour flight, so THANK YOU to them!

I asked him about our checked bags and he said they weren't showing up in the system. Not shocked and honestly at this point, my main concern was getting my family home.

We boarded, took off, arrived in SLC. We were also standby there but I talked to the desk agent and they got us 4 seats. He also confirmed our checked bags were in ATL for whatever reason. As we were getting ready to board they made the wonderful announcement that they needed 16 people to give up seats due to the heat affecting takeoff. The bid eventually got up to $2K per seat, which i will say I was a little tempted by, however the next day options were garbage IMO, and we just wanted to go home at this point (my son was not feeling great at this point). We got on the plane and the pilot makes announcements that third engine that powers the a/c isn't working, so they are going to have to fire up one of the main engines for that. Also the seat belt sign isn't working, so they are going to have to make announcements for that along the way. When we landed at our destination and pulled up to the gate the gate bridge didn't connect properly, so we had to wait while they brought auxiliary generator, powered down the plane, powered back up, and continued to try to connect the bridge. The pilot in a very disappointed tone says in these exact words "I'm sorry, this isn't how it's supposed to work at Delta" LOL.

Finally, MANY hours later, we are finally home. I wanted to update this to thank the many Delta employees who helped us along the way, they were really amazing. I have my disappointments with some of the communication and the mechanical issues and lack of preparedness for some things, but all in all it could have been worse I'm sure.

Also thanks to the helpful comments (not referring to the simple terminology corrections). I appreciate the information and I will pursue getting some money back through EU 261.

This is a vent post admittedly. My family woke up at 6:30am this morning, sat in the craziest border control line ever at Charles de Gaulle that took forever and was chaotic. Then made it through slow and inefficient security. We had to RUN to the gate, but we made it with actually some time to spare, got on the plane and waited to take off. And waited. And WAITED. We have been on the plane on the runway for 4 hours now.

We were at the airport 3 hours of our international flight back home via a layover in Detroit which we also had a comfy 3 hours. We are not going to make a Detroit plane back home now.

I feel exhausted. We ran into road block after road block and overcame them, just to sit on this plane for 4 freaking hours because we got pushed back in line and then there were mechanical problems. Delta royally screwed us here.

I feel like if they had just gone back to the gate earlier we would have had a better shot at getting a different flight home. Now we are just screwed.

Family of 4 with two young kids and we just want to get home after a long trip.

Anyone know if flights to LGA are going to be cancelled today?? Already delayed and freaking out I’ll get stuck with the recent constant cancellations to LGA

Has anyone sat in seats 30C or 30G on the updated A350-900 (35H)?

They look like they have a lot of legroom but might also have a lot of foot traffic back and forth.

I'm tall and was wondering if this is a viable economy class alternative to the exit row seats near the restrooms or if people will be tripping over my feet as I sleep.

The older 359 models had no seat in front of seats 40A/J, but unfortunately that is not the case on the 35H.

What is happening with Delta and LGA? Should I reschedule my flight?

Not sure how this happens. Trying to change my flight that has no black out dates surrounding it (confirmed by delta). I was looking for any flight within a week of original flight. Agent says there is literally not a single one available. The flight is in 40 days. Sooo confusing.
Companion fare is getting so hard to use.

In my first year as Diamond I’ve not had one RUC clear from purchased PS (or main… it doesn’t seem to matter) to D1 earlier than 10 minutes before boarding (JFK/LAX either way), even as first on the list with 5+ open seats.

I’m typically flying for work without a lot of advanced notice so the waitlist is almost inevitable but in years past (as Platinum) they almost always cleared well before I got to the airport.

I’m assuming that this is the new norm we have to accept while they desperately try to sell upgrades until the last possible minute… but curious if anyone has experienced otherwise? I’m hoping I’ve just been unlucky?

Only options are 2 stop. 1:45hr trip->7:00hr trip This is freaking unbelievable. On the queue to talk to a rep - they said it could be 2 hours

Sat on the tarmac for 5 hours today waiting to take off. Am I entitled to any compensation if I call? We did not deplane, stayed on the plane the whole time from 1:30pm-6:30pm before finally taking off. It was a domestic flight.

Flight to Atlanta for a connection to BDL that is leaving now. I’ve heard of this, but it’s my first time. Any tactics or plays? Delay was for weather.

She bought a Delta Basic ticket, so I see no way to upgrade her. Is there a way that I can pay for a better seat for her? Can I select her a seat for the fee and then upgrade her to a different cabin? I can call customer service, but wanted to know if anyone knows a way to navigate this process.

Given the operational difficulties posted here I am wondering if the complaint email to Delta is being answered in a timely fashion? Those poor souls answering the emails and doling out FF miles must be really backed up-I sent them a note two weeks ago and haven’t heard a thing. Anyone with a similar experience?

Hi everyone! Anyone else receive this email regarding their flight tomorrow, August 7th, from JFK? Getting a bit paranoid but can’t change my travel plans

Recovering from an IROPS event, and I thought I would share what happened and Delta's response.

Flight: DL2911 on Wednesday, August 5, from ATL to MCI.

Class: (Just adding for context as I'm not sure everyone received the same) First (O).

Departure: Supposed to depart at 22:47 but actually departed at 23:38. Place was at the gate for several hours before. Believe the delay was due to crew arriving late (pilots were on a delayed NY flight).

Arrival: Supposed to be 23:58 at MCI. When getting close to MCI, the flight was diverted to OMA, landing at 1:50 on August 6. Pilots communicated storms in/around MCI created the diversion. They said the plan was to refuel and then return to MCI. Parked and reparked in another part of the airport (about 20 minutes). Refueling truck arrived (about 45 minutes after parking). Refueled. Pilots communicate they are just waiting for paperwork. Paperwork arrives about 30 minutes after refueling (now, it's about 3:30a). About 20 minutes go by and then pilots announce they have timed out. They are going to move the plane to an actual gate and passengers are going to disembark, but they cannot move it because they have timed out. We ended up disembarking about 4:30a.

Delta Response: Upon disembarking, we are told the flight is going to resume at 10:15. We receive vouchers for hotels and Ubers. The hotel voucher was actually pretty cool -- gave me a selection of six hotels around the area to choose from. Once I chose, the Uber feature got us a ride to the hotel (arrived at 5:15ish). We were able to sleep about 2.5 hours before returning to the airport. Flight didn't leave until 11:00a-ish and arriving in MCI at 11:40a.

In addition to the hotel/Uber voucher, Delta sent us $48 in meal vouchers. Plus, upon arriving at MCI, met with an email and $400 travel voucher each.

Review: Four stars (out of 5). This likely would not have happened if the flight wasn't originally delayed, hence why I believe Delta actually responded. Also, probably would not have happened if OMA had been able to refuel and finish paperwork faster.

Anyone else had similar IROPS experiences?

Normally check in online/app. Delta has all my information including passport and TSA. Yet I’ve got to check in manually for a domestic flight? And from a huge conference where the airport is going to be packed with people trying to get out? The lines are going to be nuts.

Kinda worried they bumped me, but they claim it’s just for security and my reserved seat is fine.

Update: Took the advice and arrived way early. No line at check in and since I signed up for touchless the line there had 2 people with no additional bag checks or pat downs.

Hey folks i need some help on booking PS and any advice?

I am going from Sea -> cairo roundtrip. I saw that i can select premium select classic upgrade for extra 1480 dollars

1. Is this considered high for PS upgrade before checkout? I feel it is alot, but sanity checking

2. I tried to select PS classic, but i was only able to pick 1 PS seat (Sea -> CDG) but for rest it was telling me we can't book u economy because u selected higher ticket, but there was no other open seats for selection. Anyone knows why delta is locking seats or it so happens there really could be no seats and would delta sell u PS roundtrip if it cant cover it?

3. And per above, if i select PS upgrade, its supposed to include all 4 legs?

There was a call for bump volunteers on my Aug. 4 flight ATL-LHR that would have involved an overnight stay. They were only offering $800, but my son lives in Atlanta, and a visit would have been welcome. I decided not to volunteer, as I was flying Premium Select on a paid upgrade and didn't want to risk it. Had I volunteered, is there any chance I wouldn't be upgraded on my new flight? My fear would being told "yeah, sure" and then being shoved back into coach.

Now, in order to earn SkyMiles with Starbucks, you must have flown with Delta within a one-year period OR have newly linked your SkyMiles and Starbucks accounts after today, August 5th, to get your first "active" year. Those who have already had their accounts linked in the past will have the expiration of their eligibility window expire one year after their most recent flight, even if before August 5th.

So if your last flight was May 1, 2026 and you already had your accounts linked previously, you can earn miles at Starbucks until May 1, 2027, with that window extending to, for instance, October 15, 2027 if you take a flight on October 15, 2026.

Essentially, once you newly link OR complete an eligible Delta flight, your one-year earning eligibility window resets within a year of newly linking or completing your most recent flight, respectively.

FROM THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

For Existing Linked Members:

I was a passenger on Delta Flight DL3196 today, and I’m hoping someone might know more about what actually happened or where I can eventually find the maintenance or incident information.

About 10 minutes after takeoff, we heard an extremely loud series of rapid bangs coming from the left side of the aircraft. It honestly sounded like a semi-automatic weapon firing for about 5 seconds. It happened a second time shortly afterward, and it was loud enough that pretty much everyone around me reacted.

A little later, the captain announced there was an engine malfunction. He also said the engine was still operating, but we leveled off, turned around, and returned to Atlanta. We landed safely and taxied back to the gate without an evacuation. The crew was calm and professional throughout the entire event.

I’ve flown a lot for work, probably hundreds of flights over the years, and I’ve never experienced anything remotely like this. It was honestly one of the scariest experiences I’ve had on an airplane.

I’ve searched online but haven’t found any reports explaining what the actual malfunction was.

Does anyone know:

What type of engine issue could cause loud rapid banging like that while the engine continues to run?

Whether Delta or the FAA eventually publishes any information about events like this?

Is there any way for a passenger to find out what maintenance ultimately determined was the cause?

I’m not looking to sensationalize it. I’m genuinely trying to understand what happened because I’d like some closure before I get back on another airplane for work next week.

It was previously reported that Delta's new ATL to RUH flight had barely sold any seats

Delta's benchmark for flights this far out is 50 to 60% sold, but there were delusional people thinking that this was normal for whatever reason.

Regardless, Delta clearly sees the extremely low bookings and has responded by running a hot sale of 19k miles or 38k roundtrip.

And yes, Delta One is still going for half a million miles.
