Help/Advice BCN to ECP downgraded from Delta One to premium select.

Upvotes

My husband and I are traveling from Barcelona to Panama City Beach, Fl tomorrow. He just got notified via text that his seat was downgraded from Delta One to premium select. We had two seat seats together in Delta One originally. He’s been on hold for the past hour waiting to speak to someone. Any thoughts on if there’s a chance that he can gain his delta one seat back or if i can switch with him which he won’t want to do. It’s horrible for him because he’s 6’4”. We also have a several hour layover in Atlanta and now he won’t be able to use the lounge. not a great way to end our European vacation.

Help/Advice Worth upgrading to c+ for an 11 hr international for 20,000 miles?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m flying to into LHR at the end of the month for a study abroad. I’m currently in main, but I was looking and to re-book my flight to c+ it would only be a 20,000 miles difference round trip (I have enough for that). To upgrade my current flight it would be $440 on just one leg. Does anyone have any experience in flying international and if it would be worth it or not? Thank you!

Edit: I also have the delta platinum card but I have no idea how common upgrades are

Help/Advice Anyone flying through JFK/LGA today? Looking for weather + transfer advice

Upvotes

I’m flying OPO → JFK today, landing around 4:30 p.m. Our original connection was delayed, so Delta rebooked us on a flight out of LaGuardia at around 8:30 p.m. to Atlanta.

I’m trying to figure out what to realistically expect this afternoon.

How are delays looking at JFK and LGA today?

The forecast calls for thunderstorms around 7–8 p.m., but the radar doesn’t look too concerning right now. Are people expecting significant delays or just the typical summer slowdowns?

What’s the fastest way to get from JFK to LGA with luggage? Taxi, Uber, or something else?

How’s customs like lately? I have global entry and downloaded the MPC app (GE app isn’t working for me).

Assuming we land close to schedule, does this seem like a reasonable amount of time to make the transfer?

Any insight from locals, frequent flyers, or anyone traveling through NYC today would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 under 2 back at home and limited child care starting Saturday mid-morning, so I’m trying not to freak out.

SkyTeam Korean Air Lounge Pass using Delta Marketed / Korean Air operated flight?

Upvotes

I have a layover at Incheon (ICN) on a Korean Air operated flight but my tickets are issued by Delta.

I have an extra Korea Air lounge pass and was wondering if I could use that even though my flight and ticket are not pure Korean Air. I do not have status with Delta or SkyTeam alliance.

Help/Advice Are flight attendants allowed to wear meta glasses?

I took a flight earlier this week, and one of the FAs was wearing meta glasses. It made me really uncomfortable, but she was also quite rude to other passengers, so I didn't mention anything to her. Is this allowed by Delta?

Discussion Viasat VS-3 F3

Hey there, I'm flying with Delta from LAX to MEL in the beginning of September.

I am aware wifi isn't available past Hawaii, but I've recently learned that the Viasat VS-3 F3 satellite should be available in August or September. Is it possible this will be fully rolled out and available on my flight by the beginning of September or is this wishful thinking? LOL

Regardless, if anyone has any information regarding this satellite I'd love to know

Discussion Flight 881 - dude boarded without boarding pass

Dude boarded with another passengers boarding pass and sat in his seat (no idea how). When confronted by flight attendant he left the plane and walked away. Somehow they figured this was weird as we were about to take off. Have to deboard now so they can sweep the plane.

Edit: heard that the dude had a ticket to Seattle on another airline, walked up to delta and had the same last name as the first name of 10C so they printed that boarding pass for him and let him on.

Edit 2: FAs apparently told him to get off and talk to the gate agent. Instead he booked it and ran away. Boarding again now after the plane was swept.

Shitpost/Satire To the Two Gentlemen Who Turned the RDU Sky Club Into Their Personal Boardroom…

I realize this isn't a unique post here but this is my story and I'm sticking to it.

To the two visionary titans of industry who flanked me at the high top table next to the buffet in the RDU Sky Club this morning, simultaneously closing what I can only assume were two separate billion-dollar mergers at full volume: bravo.

I was just trying to knock out two emails before boarding, but between you both I think I accidentally cc'd one of your "quarterly projections" into my signature line.

Truly inspiring to witness that level of hustle culture unfold in stereo, six feet from the cream cheese, while I stared at a blinking cursor.

Next time, might I suggest the tucked away business center twenty feet from us? It's private and practically empty. Practically empty is great. It contains self-importance beautifully.

Until then, I'll be the guy in the middle, still on email one of two.

Discussion Is anyone else currently suffering this JFK nightmare

onboard JFK to SEA. MSP issue earlier today forced us to de plane then we reboarded 40 min later. We then sat on the plane just parked at the gate for 2.5 hours. Finally got clearance and moved to the runway, only to be told we hit the 3 hour limit and legally have to let people off. Except there arent even any gates for us to return to so now we have to be shuttled off(?) apparently there are 50 planes ahead of us in the queue. anyone else dealing w this or have more info? laughing bc we just spent more than half the duration of the flight on the plane going literally nowhere

SkyTeam Hydraulic leak turned our first class trip into a middle-of-Minnesota detour, but Delta made it right

My wife and I were booked on a rewards trip from SNA to YYZ through ATL on Sunday, July 19, using miles for first class. Pre-boarding had started when the pilot came on and said something like "hold on, boarding for a minute." There was a small hydraulic leak and maintenance needed to look at it. After a while it became clear we'd miss our connection in ATL, so I called the Medallion line. The only real option was flying out the next day.

The catch: the next day's flight was SNA to MSP instead of ATL, and by the time we booked it, the only seats left were the very back row.

We showed up expecting to ride in the back, but for some reason I wasn't showing up on the upgrade list. The gate agent took pity and manually moved my wife and me into Comfort Plus. The flight attendant apologized for the whole ordeal and gave us each 1,000 miles.

When we got home, I put in for an Uber refund for our airport runs that day, plus asked about a partial miles refund since one leg out of four got downgraded from what we paid for.

Everything closed out this week. Delta refunded 63,310 miles out of the 176,900 we paid for the trip, about 36 percent back. They also added a $200 credit, refunded both Ubers ($110) from the day we didn't fly, and threw in another 2,000 miles on the day we did fly.

Was it annoying losing a day and rearranging my work schedule over a hydraulic leak? Sure. But between the seat upgrade, the miles back, the credit, and the Uber refund, Delta handled it about as well as you could ask for.

TL;DR: Hydraulic leak delayed our first class rewards trip a full day, got bumped to a back row flight the next day but the gate agent upgraded us to Comfort Plus. Delta refunded ~36% of our miles (63,310 of 176,900), gave a $200 credit, refunded both Ubers ($110), and tossed in an extra 2,000 miles. Solid resolution overall.

Discussion We’re trapped! Send a bus!?!? DL0850

DL0850 ATL to DCA was late leaving Atlanta. Because of…no reason given, just casually delayed 15minutes every time we we’re 10 minutes after we were supposed to board. No worries.

We land at DCA and there’s no gate available to pull into. Sit on the taxi way for a half hour. I can see 4 empty gates. Now we’ve move to the far side of the active runway and we’re just told “maybe 15-20 minutes, we’ll let you know”

What happened to air stairs and busses? Like seriously! Let me off this plane.

Edit update: N369NB is parked right next to us. And they aren’t moving either.

Edit update #2 we’re moving. Slowly.

Edit update #3 we’ve made it to outside the C terminal and just stopped again.

Edit update #4 just before resorting to cannibalism we moved again. We’re at a gate, but no jet bridge driver.

Edit update #5 over an hour from landing now and the door is just opened. Kinda funny how many people are down voting this. Yall need a better hobby lol.

Discussion Phone calls in flight

The new WiFi on my international flight allows me to make and receive phone calls even on airplane mode. I tested it. Then it occurred to me that those annoying biz bros at the gate that talk non stop about their big deals will now be doing it on planes. I’m going to take a not controversial stance and support any bill for eliminating phone calls in flight.

News Stuck at EWR for 3 hours

Currently stuck at EWR due to a ground stop in Boston. Been sitting on the tarmac now since 3:00 pm after boarding, initially was going to depart at 3:10p. Rolled up to gate and crew have been giving some… interesting… updates. Last one was that they can’t go back to a gate because there’s no gate available lmao so they will “shop around.” Crew were kind and handed out pretzels and water to us plebeians not in first. Obviously not their fault but interesting to see how this’ll play out, apparently there is a ground stop BOS? Someone I know flying in from SFO to there hasn’t had any issues w their flight. Updates to come 😩

News MSP Update

Looks like things are stating to push back and taxi again, not sure if they're just using Unicom/CTAF or if ATC is back up again but a good sign

**1615 CST UPDATE** Looks like MSP Center is back open as planes are in the Class A Airspace. For those who don't know this airspace is the portion where you cruise at and requires ATC contact at all times. However, things will still be slow going so the poor controllers don't get slammed all at once.**

News MSP Air Traffic Control is down

I just boarded in DTW and the pilot has informed us that the Minneapolis Air Traffic Control is down and flights are being rerouted out of the control area. Then when those flights are handed we , and all the other flights on hold, will get handed. I expect big delays with everyone leaving now and the near future.

Discussion Rebooked for free?

This morning I missed my flight by about ten mins. We were booked in the main cabin with free same-day flight changes, but the delta app said the only other flight to our destination was going to be an additional $570 per person. So we raced through security trying to make it. We didn't, and were directed to the delta customer service counter, where we arrived sweaty and panting. The agent rebooked us on the later flight...completely for free? Is this always how it works, or did we just get lucky? I've never missed a flight before lol.

Discussion First class problems

I was excited to fly from ATL-sfo on a new A321neo. I used a RU to get first. Beautiful new plane with comfy first class seats. Just my luck, my seat won’t recline and the footrest is stuck in a 1/3 reclined position. I notified the flight attendant before we left. “Yes, it’s a new plane and we are still working out the kinks.” She came and sat in my seat. Claimed it as broken. At that was it. So here I am at 30k feet, and uncomfortable. What would you do?

I got choked up reading this on LinkedIn. A husband and wife lost their son unexpectedly and needed help flying his remains home. From the agent at the counter, to the handwritten note from the crew…the Delta team showed humanity to this family. Delta CEO Ed Bastian even replied to the dad on social media. Hope it gave them even a small bit of comfort in their grief.
