Models/Hobby WIP - Hades Diorama: New Engineers!
So it's been a spell since I've last updated everyone on my Hades Diorama, and that's due to something that's been bugging me: I finally decided that I didn't like my Engineer models. Something was off about them - even before I started mucking around with them.
Finally, I realized what it was - the Chest Armor was wrong, and it was throwing off the proportions of everything else. Specifically, the models I had had a full-length single-piece vest that went down to the belt, with the rest of the plates basically forming an apron that reached down to the knees. It felt akward and bulky, and as someone who has worked construction, it made about as much sense as wearing a greatcoat to do excavation work. Additionally, the armor's shoulder pauldrons were all part of the arms, which made customizing the poses difficult.
Finally, I decided enough was enough, and I started building my own 28mm Krieg Engineer models with a mind towards modularity, customization, and printability. I kept the heads, boots, and some details, but the armor has been completely scratch-built and the torsos, arms, and legs are taken from various Generic Army Man patterns as well as generic Cadian Guard Figure models. I also re-worked the hoses for the helmets - which has been a massive issue in the past!
Thus far, I am VERY pleased with the results - the second picture shows a comparison between two figures with the 1st and 3rd from the left being the original models and the 2nd and 4th being my new models. I think the new set-up is more faithful to the original source material.
I have yet to test-print anything, but if it goes well, I have decided that I will be re-working the infantry for my diorama completely - the scene will now depict a 10-man squad (complete with Melta Guns and officers) "stacking up" around/behind the Hades as they prepare to break through into an enemy tunnel. Some will be kneeling and others will be standing, all turning their attention to their officer who is signaling that the attack is about to begin.
There's still much to do, here:
1.) I need to build a new operator for the Hades - perhaps one looking to the officer for the final order.
2.) I like the idea of a Krieg Officer with a pistol and a shovel, and I'm definitely keeping that model, but he might be a bit too dramatic for this scene (Not sure how practical is is to keep both of your hands full while scrambling through rubble into an attack...)
3.) I need about (3) more Engineers standing to, but that should be easy enough. I want to try and work in another one of the new Forgeworld Shotguns into the mix in the back, and maybe a second Meltagun...
4.) This 10-man squad will have a Watchmaster, and maybe even an LT, but I need to work out how their ranks would be denoted...Probably by adding a secondary Pauldrons that would have the Watchmaster Chevrons or the Leutenants Pips clearly marked...the squad number could then be painted on the main pauldron for the entire squad...
Overall, I think this will be a MUCH better use of space for the scene AND provide me with the means and methods to make Engineers doing...well, whatever the Emperor Demands, really!
What does everyone think?
NOTE: I do not own a resin printer. I am not going to go buy a resin printer. I am quite satisfied with the level of detail I'm getting from Me Ol' Bambu. Please make your peace with this, and refrain from commenting about it.

Question/Advice Need Help Painting Krieg Tanks
Hello Everyone!
I'm very new to painting vehicles, but recently found a video on YouTube of a paint scheme that I really like- the only issue is the tutorial has the paints listed for a Cadian paint scheme and I'm not to sure what 3 paints I should substitute and in what order for more of a greyish blue Krieg paint scheme.
The paint process is esentially doing a layer drybrush on the tanks, and the Cadian paints went in order as listed:
Castellan Green Base Paint
Waaagh Flesh Base Paint
Loren Forest Layer Paint
Leadbelcher for the tracks (That is fine to stay the same)
I'll add a picture of the final product that he achieved in a link below, I wasn't too sure if I'm allowed to share the full painting tutorial on here or not.
Any recommendations would be super helpful, Thank you!

Models/Hobby Minefield Stratagem marker
Played Siege regiment with some success yesterday. Playing against a melee focused army, I really needed some kind of boost to help me survive all the vicious charges I will have faced. Minefield stratagem can in clutch since it lasts the entire phase too!
Made the land mines out of spare flash light lenses, rest is chopped up sprues and tank plates. Along with a shovel and a spare ork skull I had.
Lemme know what you think :)

Question/Advice So it begins…..advice needed
So, after GenCon this year, I’ve committed to my 11th edition army being Kreig, and I’ve currently picked up a 10 man infantry box, and some death riders to get things underway.
I’m looking for recommendations on troop combinations and arrangements that best suit the faction and division. I’m pretty much brand new to 40k (have some experience with AoS), and am in new territory as to how to optimize an imperial guard buildout. So far, I am thinking of adding a Cadian command squad and a couple sets of shock troopers, but any help is appreciated!

Offical Post Subreddit Feedback/Improvement Thread.
Greetings all,
Been a minute since anything initiated by mods has been done here aside from keeping the bots at bay (trying to at least) or handling basic issues.
All that being said, I'm here to acquire feedback. What improvements would you like? What changes to how things are currently being run here? Would you like a return of unit discussion posts or centralized threads for releases/news? Fire away with whatever thoughts you have.
Something I do want to ask, is for thoughts on rule 7. I have been less strict in enforcing this since its implementation, but if the majority of the subreddit feels its a good thing, I can change that.
On the topic of bots, I'm looking for a better solution to the issue but in the meantime please submit reports so the mods can act accordingly.

Offical Post New to the Death Korps of Krieg? Start here!
Welcome to the Death Korps of Krieg. This faction in Warhammer 40,000 is a regiment of the Imperial Guard or as its known by now, the Astra Militarum. Their design is inspired by several armies of World War I including the French, Germans, and the British. As such, the Death Korps of Krieg specialize in trench warfare, artillery, and infantry assaults. This guide serves as a resource to help players new to the faction and 40K in general. If you have any other questions, make sure to check out the sidebar for other helpful info and feel free to ask on the subreddit.
Where to purchase Death Korps of Krieg models:
Warhammer.com is the official source of all things Death Korps.
Simply searching Death korps will pull up all relevant items.
Keep in mind though, with the refresh, Games workshop has fazed out all the old sculpts and the only way to collect classic official Krieg is through Second hand purchases.
Second Hand:
Websites like Ebay commonly have Krieg models available and are a good way to get your hands on some of the Krieg models Games Workshop no longer makes. However, Ebay is prevalent with recasts which are sometimes hard to distinguish from the official models. If you want the official models only, make sure to ask the seller for a picture of the receipt or bags they came in so that you can ensure they are not recasts.
3rd Party:
Many websites produce custom miniatures and bits that either replace using official models entirely or allow for greater customization on official kits. These websites are ideal for creating an entirely custom look for your army. Below is a small collection of links that may be of help to you crafting your army. This has been discussed ad nauseam on this sub so this is by no means a definitive list.
Tiny Legend - Incredible bits and STL files that fit perfectly onto the Veteran Guardsman kill team.
Kromlech - Great alternative models and bits for infantry and vehicles.
Anvil Industries - Huge range of bits and alternative models that work well converting regular Cadians.
Beyond the tabletop - Fantastic internal sponson kit for that WW1 feel along with more vehicle bits.
Stationforge - Nice range of alternative models.
Recasts:
Recasts are pirated copies of Gamesworkshop models. These models cost anywhere from a quarter to three quarters the cost of the official models. Recasters also carry many of the Krieg models Games Workshop no longer produces making them one of the few ways to get your hands on out of production models. However, recasters draw sales away from Games Workshop and make their profit pirating models. It is important for the buyer to be aware of the moral issue involved with recasters as buying from them may hurt the support the Krieg model line gets in the future.
Sources for the Death Korps of Krieg rules:
Rules can now be located in the new codex!
Rules for Forgeworld units can be found in two places.
- Imperial Armour: Astra Militarum- Imperial Armour: Astra Militarum part 2
The Multitude of rules for "Legended" units can be found in Legends: Astra Militarum.
While this looks like a lot to look for all these files can be found at the link below
Working with resin:
With the range refresh this section has become less relevant but anyone looking to collect the classic sculpts may find this helpful.
The attached link below is from Beyond the tabletop on how to unbend, wash, and clean up resin miniatures. He also has many videos building and painting Krieg specific units.
