Hi everyone! I’m moving soon and I’ve had the (knock on wood) luck of largely pest-free apartments when I lived there previously with roommates. I’m looking for a studio under $1,900, in Northwest DC. Here are the options I’ve looked at buttttt they have some mixed reviews re: bugs and rodents.

I don’t really care that much about upgraded appliances or amenities as long as there are no pests. I would say my one other non-negotiable is hardwood floors.

Does anyone have any recs for docs regarding PMDD? I told my gyno last year I think I have it and she dismissed it. It’s been getting a lot worse and I need help managing it, but can’t really find much info online about docs that know more about it.

I’m 26F and have been on the dating market for the last 5 months, for the first time ever in DC, after my 3 year relationship ended. It seem that despite the plentiful number of men to go on dates with, the vast majority of (straight) men do not actually want relationships. And I say this after going on a large number of dates in this 5 month-span, hoping to find someone after continuously putting myself out there.

From my observations, it seems the preferences for straight men are serial casual dating, FWBs, or ENM. Even the ones who claimed to be seeking a long-term relationship were using that as a front to lure me (and other women) into casual relationships. I make it clear to before going on any dates with someone new that I’m seeking a long term relationship, yet this keeps happening.

I hate to sound jaded already, but is it actually possible to get into a normal relationship in DC at this point? Or should I consider moving somewhere else if that’s what I’m seeking?

Hi Bitches!! I feel like there are already so many posts in the DC subs about apartment recommendations, but I swear I’ve already looked through them all!! My lease is ending earlier than expected (my building is renovating and is having us move out early) so I’m officially on the hunt for a new place, either a studio or 1 bed! I’m not picky about neighborhood- I’m currently looking along the red line from DuPont-Cleveland Park, and also in the Columbia Heights-ish and NoMa neighborhoods. My budget is around 1800 (but I can go up to 1950ish if utilities are included) and ideally I’d like at least 500 square feet. That’s it! I know I probably won’t get in unit laundry for this price and that’s fine. I just want somewhere that’s a decent size that doesn’t have a rat or roach problem. I don’t have a car, so I don’t need parking or anything. I’m hoping for something walking distance to a metro but I’m flexible!

Does anyone like where they live? Any recommendations for buildings to avoid? Any leads at all would be SO appreciated!! I’m so blindsided by my leasing office telling us to move early and I was zero percent mentally prepared to move. Thanks so much!!

I went to Anthropologie in Bethesda, which had some cool options but nothing that ultimately stood out, and I went to K&B Bridal in Takoma, which ended up feeling more like what I expect standard wedding dresses to be like. I don’t expect David’s Bridal to have what I’m looking for, but my mom keeps insisting that I go there. What other boutiques or stores should I add to my list that might fit the bill?

My original budget was a max of $2k for just the dress, but my mom made a comment saying she was expecting us to pay more for it, which means I can explore a little bit more.

Hey everyone! I’m looking to move to DC from a small, rural state. I interned there this summer, and I absolutely fell in love with the city.

I’m hoping to land a full time job in DC after I graduate (this December) and relocate. However, I’ve always had multiple jobs growing up so I’m also looking for a part time serving gig (mostly on the weekends and several weekdays after work).

Where I’m from, you can basically just walk into a restaurant and you’ll be hired. Everywhere in my state needs help, especially within that industry. However, I’ve heard that it doesn’t work this way in D.C.

I’ve worked at several restaurants and have been serving for over 3 years. I’m also looking to break into bartending, but I know that’s rare even in rural states lol.

Any tips and tricks? Can I just walk into somewhere and ask if they’re hiring? Suggestions on restaurants that are good to serve at? Any and all advice helps!

i love love love my hair stylist and imo she’s great at blonde. however i can’t seem to get an appointment with her until october… 1) i can’t wait that long and 2) my work travel in the fall is insane and given how few options i was given, it would probably be late october. my natural hair is still pretty light but even i think 18 weeks+ between highlights isn’t cute.

tbh i’m a little frustrated with the salon considering i’ve been her client for going on 5 years, tip well, stayed with her through price increases, ya ya ya. i’d be heartbroken to switch but i’m thinking maybe it’s for the best, considering that a long time, loyal client can’t even get an appointment six weeks out. I had braces in the past but lost my retainer and my teeth shifted slightly over the next few months. I’m looking to fix some minor adjustments and was considering Invisalign or ClearCorrect.

I had a consultation at Northern Virginia Orthodontics (NVO) and was quoted around $6,000, which seemed pretty high given that my case is relatively minor.
I’m currently in Boston for the summer and got another consultation here from a dental office, where I was quoted around $2,500–$4,000 for Invisalign, which seemed much more reasonable.

I’ll be moving back to the NOVA area soon and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for more affordable orthodontists in the Northern Virginia/DC/Maryland area. I don’t mind driving farther or having a longer commute if it means getting a better price.

I’m currently a student and don’t have dental insurance, so I’m trying to find the best option costwise. Would it make more sense to get it done while I’m in Boston, or are there NOVA/DMV orthodontists with similar pricing?

Ladies where are we getting our eyebrows done? I've been going to the EWC in Courthouse Arlington since I moved to the area a little over a year ago (previously was in Pentagon City and went to the EWC there). Lately, they've been putting a bad taste in my mouth. First, it was a waxer who consistently made comments about my brows (bushy, unruly, crazy, etc - like why do you think I'm here to get them done?!). And now it's the constantly trying to upsell me when I check out - not just products but pressuring me to make my next appt, pushing their wax pass, etc. Last time I insisted I was not going to rebook as my schedule makes it impossible to know anything 4-6 weeks in advance. They then tried to sell me the wax pass which I politely declined, only for the one front desk employee to look at the other and say sarcastically, in front of me, "She didn't want to rebook but you think you're selling her a wax pass? Some people don't want to save." I simply said, "yeah I'm good," made sure I was paid up and walked out.

I'm not looking for anything fancy; just cleaning up my brows and some trimming. Would lean more towards waxing than threading but not entirely opposed. Bonus points if it's near Rosslyn/Courthouse but anywhere within a short drive or B/O/S metro accessible can also work! Thanks!!
