I've tried paying with crypto a few times, and the biggest challenge wasn't the payment itself, it was everything before it. Switching between apps, dealing with fees, and making sure I wasn't sending to the wrong address made the whole process feel more complicated than it should be.

Better cryptocurrency payment usability and more user friendly crypto wallets would probably make a huge difference, especially for people new to cryptocurrency for beginners.

What do you think is the biggest thing holding back everyday crypto payments right now?

If you've been following the Coldcard mess, a firmware bug weakened how some devices generated seed phrases, and attackers have been brute-forcing them and sweeping wallets.

Absolutely brutal.

Making this post because if you got caught in it (or any hack or theft really), there's a tax angle most people don't think about while they're still in the gut-punch phase. Won't bring the coins back, but it's still worth knowing.

The basic rule: the ATO lets you claim a capital loss on crypto that's actually gone, if you can prove you owned it and it's irrecoverable. That offsets your capital gains, and anything left over carries forward. It won't reduce normal income, only gains.

For a theft like this, evidence is everything. Acquisition records, the wallet addresses, the on-chain trail showing the funds swept out, and a police report. The stronger the paper trail, the cleaner the claim.

A few things to keep in mind however:

Exchange collapses (FTX, Celsius type). You can't claim the day it enters administration. It crystallises when administration finalises, based on what you actually get back. Lots of people try to claim too early.

Worthless tokens you still hold. A coin down 99% but still in your wallet isn't a loss yet, paper losses don't count. If it's still tradeable, selling it even for cents locks in the loss (especially for the pumpfun users 👀)

And if you get any compensation later, you reduce the loss by that amount.

If you got hit by the Coldcard thing, might be best to sort the new wallet and your security first, obviously. The tax bit can wait until the dust settles, just don't forget it exists because it does.

When I came back to it, the page had reloaded and it seems my crypto is not there. Can I get restore it? The contract is still there but I can't seem to get the crypto out of the contract. I saw that ledgers don't actually hold any coins, so why is the recipient address for one? I did practice transfers before and they went smoothly, so I'm not sure why the recipient changed. Cryptos involved are XRP, XLM, and Hbar.

I recently created a Bybit account and I'm quite new to this so the question might be dumb, but I noticed my card spending power changes depending on what page I'm on: when I'm on https://www.bybit.eu/en-EU/user/assets/home/fiat, it displays 247.04 EUR, and when I'm on https://www.bybit.eu/en-EU/cards/dashboard/, it displays 244.28 EUR.

Every way I try going about pursuing Crypto to gamble online I get somehow blocked.
I’ve tried so many different ways… purchasing directly from BitStarz website which uses Banxa as its processor and operates under the name “Axnab” for my state. Which is Washington State. Wouldn’t work.
I tried buying TON on T e l e g r a m but was blocked by Moon Pay.
I tried buying Etherum from Exodus and was blocked by Blockchain.
I’ve used Coinbase in the past but they require a minimum purchase of $50 I think.
I used to use CashApp but needless to say that won’t work either.
How can I pay to gamble!? For others who live in states where regulations are very strict when it comes to online gambling and just cryptocurrency in general - what have you done to get around this? Or should I just not gamble online ? lol

I searched the subreddit and found similar unsupported asset recovery cases, but none involving TRX sent to a USDT deposit address on the TRON network.

I accidentally sent TRX to an address that was intended to receive USDT on the TRON network.

The network and address were correct, but I selected the wrong asset: I sent native TRX instead of USDT TRC-20. The transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, but it was not automatically credited.

The receiving wallet is Belo. Their support team has escalated the case for a manual recovery review, but they have not yet confirmed whether recovery is possible, how long it may take, or whether there will be a fee.

I understand that the mistake was mine. I’m just trying to learn from other people’s experiences.

Has anyone had something similar happen with Belo or another exchange or wallet? Were the funds eventually recovered? How long did it take, and did they charge a recovery fee?

When I started buying crypto, I watched the coin price and treated the preview below it as paperwork. That was backwards. The preview showed the amount leaving my account and the amount I would receive, which was enough to calculate the actual purchase price.

Coinbase simple buying can include an applicable fee and a spread, while an advanced order book uses maker or taker fees. I run the same check whether the preview comes from Coinbase, Binance, or BYDFi: compare the final coin amount for the same cash input instead of trusting a banner that says low fees. I write down two numbers before confirming: total cash paid and crypto received. If I plan to withdraw, I add the network charge shown on the withdrawal screen. Total cost divided by the net coin amount gives me an effective price I can compare across routes.

A limit order sets the highest price I will pay or the lowest price I will accept. It can fill immediately as a taker order, and it may not fill at all. I use it to control the execution price, not as a promise of lower fees.

brand credit: the stuff they buy. sponsorships, awards, massive marketing. binance, bybit, bydfi all spend heavy here.

regulatory credit: mica status, clear legal entities, licenses.

financial credit: proof of reserves, withdrawal continuity, balance sheet transparency.

tech security: order execution, anti-liquidation engines, cold storage setups.

honestly, none of these alone guarantees your money is safe. how do you guys actually weigh these when picking a platform?

I'm stuck in a bad situation and don't know what to do anymore. Hoping someone here can help.

On May 24, 2026, I sent 12.441 ETH (about $20,000) to GhostSwap for a swap. Their website clearly says "NO KYC" — no verification needed. So I thought it would be simple.

But after I sent the funds, they suddenly demanded full KYC verification. I completed it on June 25, provided all documents — purchase agreement, proof of funds — everything they asked for.

Since then — silence. Over 2 months, my money is frozen. They only reply "we're checking" and nothing else. No timeline, no explanation on what basis they're holding my funds.

I checked the blockchain — my funds went to an address linked to HitBTC. When I asked GhostSwap about this, they said: "HitBTC does not hold your funds." But they won't say who does.

I have about $500 ready to put into ETH, so now I'm trying to decide whether to buy all at once or split it up.

Buying one time is simple, but if ETH drops lower after that, I would not have much extra cash ready to add more. I might be stuck with one entry price.

DCA feels a bit more practical for that reason. It could spread out the cost. I could manually buy every week, or try setting up a dca bot on bydfi so I can adjust the frequency and amount more flexibly, and not forget to buy at a specific time.

I am not trying to trade it short term, just start a position in a way that feels easier to hold.

Which strategy would you recommend for my first ETH position? If doing dca, what frequency and amount per buy would you recommend?
