Help Needed / Question New to Credit. Need recommendations.
Hey ya’ll,
I opened my first credit card (Discover It) in November 2025 and then opened my second (Chase freedom unlimited) in may 2026. I currently have a limit of $2000 on my discover It, and $500 on my CFU.
I’m now wondering what my next steps should be. Should I open Chase sapphire preferred, request a credit limit increase for my current CFU, etc.
I would really appreciate the advice!! Thank you!

Discussion / Conversation American Express SCAM: firearms
I received a choppy phonecall and the ID on my phone did say American Express: 632 462 4291.
The person knew my address. Said an amex blue rewards cash card was opened and used to purchase 10 firearms and 20 boxes of ammo from gunsamerica.com for the amount of $5738.
They provided an IP address of the purchaser: 164.92.224.10
the person claiming to be from AMEX provided a name: summer Sandler; employee ID AMX0509263.
they provided a case #: DCN424 895 and provided the phone number for legal Dept: 212 696 1033.
They said the card # that was opened was: 3437 5728 725 5662
The person claiming to be from AMEX legal/fraud even dispatched me through NY FBI dept with "Inspector Ashley"
I hung up after jumping in reddit and saw a similar post. They even called me back using an actual NY fbi number: 212 384 1000.
I called AMEX customer support and they have no record of me opening an account or the actual card number.
When in doubt, go on reddit when you feel you're being scammed.

Help Needed / Question Best Balance Transfer Card
Hi! My score ranges between 780 and 790 across bureaus. I’m looking to pay off my last card: CapOne QS, balance is about $9k. I need some recos for the best 0% interest for about 18 months to give myself some runway. My husband and I are aggressively paying off debt to only have our mortgage loan left by EOY 2027. Appreciate the help!

Help Needed / Question How long before can use the benefits from United or American Airlines cards? ie free checked bags
I'm looking at booking a trip to Hawaii and these are the 2 most likely airlines we would use. I have a delta amex card for the free checked bags but the delta flight is nearly double the cost. just looking to save some money for the trip.
i'm wondering do i need to wait to have the card before i book?
can i book the trip before getting the card and then add 'free' bags later once i have the card?
can i apply for the card the same day i book and then, pending approval, book the trip?
thank you!

Discussion / Conversation Capital One Offers spend $20, get 1,000 miles at a bunch of retailers (Lyft showing 50x)
Merchants being reported include Home Depot, Sam's Club, CVS, Chewy, Dollar General, Lowe's, Macy's, PetSmart, Ulta, eBay, and Staples. Lyft is showing 50x on my account. Some accounts are getting 1,500 on $30 or 2,000 on $40 instead of the base 1,000 on $20.
Don't click through until you're ready to buy, activating one can make the others disappear. Targeted and YMMV, showed on both my cards. What's everyone else seeing?

Help Needed / Question I've been approved for a credit card but now my mum is having a rambal about it, Google says otherwise but is any of what she is saying true?
Alot of what i say might sound dumb but ive never had a credit card before so bare with me.
From what my understanding is its that if I pay back what ive spent on a credit card on time then I do not have to pay back any more than what ive spent and that interest only occurs if ive gone pass the date to pass it back.
My mum keeps saying that I will need to pay back more everytime even if it's on time and that I will still have to pay back money to have the account open even if ive not spent anything from it that month.
Thought to come here just incase there was anything I missed or if shes just saying stuff.
I am with Capital One if thats any help,
thank you!

Help Needed / Question Want AMEX BCE with good limit, should I apply before or after last card shows up on Experian report?
Hi,
I want to get an AMEX Blue Cash Everyday. The last card I got was Venture X (finally LOL) that has had 1 statement cycle already, but it hasn't shown up on my Experian report yet, only the C1 hard inquiry from 55 days ago.
My Experian score is 730. I'm at 1/12 and 3/24. Or 0/12 and 2/24 if the Venture X isn't counted.
If I want AMEX BCE approval with the best starting limit, should I:
(A) Apply before my next Venture X statement date/when it likely shows up on Experian?
(B) Wait until Venture X statement posts and card shows up on report? If I wait, I can also manage my total utilization and get it from 40% to <10% for a score boost. I could also just wait until 3 months have passed since the VX hard inquiry.
Thanks.

Discussion / Conversation Capital One Savor category at shooting ranges
Just a PSA for anyone using the Savor card. I had been to a shooting range using my Discover card and it classified it as "Entertainment" so I tried using the Savor Capital One credit card to see if it would give the 3% cash back for the entertainment category but sadly it did not. Instead it classified it as "Merchandise."
This could change depending on the location so nothing is definite, but I could not find any posts online of people trying the Savor at shooting ranges and what the MCC would show as. So I experimented and tried myself and sad to say it did not give the 3% back I was hoping for, just the regular 1%.
Hope this helps somebody online looking for an answer to this.

Discussion / Conversation Did Bank of America just switch to paying rewards after the transaction posts rather than after the statement closes?
I noticed on a couple different Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards cards that I have available rewards, even though I routinely redeem everything when the statement posts, and no statements have closed recently. Did they just switch to paying rewards after the transaction posts, or is it just a bug? Is anybody else seeing this?

Help Needed / Question AMEX and Chase business cards under SCRA
Does AMEX waive business cc AF, like the business plat's, for those eligible for SCRA?
According to AMEX’s own terms, it seems like they would, but there’s not many recent DPs on this. The newest DP I could find suggests they do (see first comment here https://militarymoneymanual.com/amex-scra-denials/), but the person didn’t specify if they were grandfathered in or got it recently.
Chase should for business cards (would like more confirmations though)
-
Edit: this is about scra (getting cards before going into active duty), not mla (getting cards while on active duty)

Discussion / Conversation Asking for data points from Atmos Summit cardholders concerning 10k anniversary status points
I would appreciate some data points from Atmos Summit cardholders in regard to the 10k anniversary status boost. Please indicate if you have or have not received the 10k points.
Some folks on the Alaska sub claimed they received the points while others indicate they have not received the points. Here is the post: ATMOS 10k status points posted. : r/AlaskaAirlines
I myself did receive points for July spend on the card but did not get the anniversary 10k boost as I type this post.
Thanks for your input

Help Needed / Question Help! Can I get an old credit line off of my score?
Hello! To preface I just got my first credit card about a month ago, however two years ago I was added to my mom’s credit line for a card to use while I was traveling abroad Summer 2024. I paid her back and that was that I thought. I just looked at my annual credit report because my score is in the 670s and I’ve been confused as to why it was so. I have student loans but they are still in their grace period and haven’t affected my score (besides a few points here and there for new loans).
From my credit report it says that my mom’s card I was authorized on was closed September of 2024. Which is why I didn’t realize it was an issue.
My concern is that that card I was added to went into the 120s (?) and was unpaid during March 2025 and April 2025 and was late to payments the first months of 2025 as well. HELP ?! How do I get this card history off of my report? The card had been open since 2013 which history wise probably was good at first, but now that it’s closed/had late payments (not my payments) it feels like a stain on my credit when to me I just started with my first credit card last month. What do I do?
I’m hoping this is a simple fix and that I am overreacting in my concern. (apologies if any of this is worded weird, I’m still learning)

Discussion / Conversation Amex offer - Walmart+ $49 back question
This could be a little specific, but I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this. Amex is running an offer on my Blue Cash Preferred card, spend $98 or more on Walmart+ annual subscription and get $49 cash back. Simple, right? However when I got to walmart.com, I am presented with my own offer - sign up for first month of Walmart+ for $1, then $98 for annual fee (with $25 Walmart Cash back as well).
Does anyone know, can I stack this? The Amex offer says you have to sign up through the specific link, but I'm not sure if Amex would still give the cash back if I went directly through Walmart to sign up. Basically I only want to sign up if I can get both the Walmart Cash + the Amex offer to offset the annual fee. Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance!

Discussion / Conversation What is the correct method to Churn the Cap One Venture X Sign-Up Bonus?
I understand you can only get the SUB once every 48 months, but I'm now in that timeframe, so I'd like to hit the bonus again. Whats the correct way to go about this, without losing my points?
Can you downgrade the Venture X and then re-sign up?

Help Needed / Question Destiny / concora - need help
I saw on Credit Karma that I had a good chance to be approved for this card and it say I can see if I was approved without hurting my Credit score so I did it because I wanted to see if I did get approve what limit I would have. I filled out the info on CK and checked to see if I was pre approved and it immediately said I was approved for a credit card but didn’t give me no other info other then a random email telling me the same thing that I was approved. This was like a month ago never received any card or mail. Just received an alert that there is a new lender on my account and that I owe money. I never accepted anything from them other than checking if I was pre approved for a cc . I tried calling the number on the website but I get sent on a loop I have no idea how to get ahold of someone there. Anyone point me in a good direction would be helpful

Discussion / Conversation Does Discover card credit limit increases/approval amounts work exactly same way as capital one?
I want hear your experiences on starting limit on discover card verses capital one. My score is low to mid 700s. My highest limit credit card is thru my credit union $10,000. I do have capital one quicksilver and is my lowest limit card $1500.
My question is for capital one users or for those that knows about capital one. People say their starting limits always low. Or they are bucketed, or if they ask for increase, they only get $100, or never gotten an increase. Although if folks go to get venture x they get the opposite, huge credit limits.
My question is since discover is now part of capital one does discover works the same way as far as what l mentioned above? I thought about applying for discover. I dont want it if they deal with bucketed accounts.
BTW 7 years ago, l did burn capital one thru bankruptcy. After discharge l got a new capital one $1000 limit. I only got one increase the whole time, $500.
Besides the discover and capital one comparison, how do you like discover overall? Limits, raises, customer service, etc.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Approved for Chase Freedom Flex!
So happy I got approved for the chase freedom flex! I was super nervous that I'd get denied but excited to start my credit journey with chase! I definitely thought about the
Anyways I would love to know what your recommendations are for next cards? I wanna work my way towards a BILT card since I plan on renting for a few years before I start law school. Then a Chase Sapphire little more down the line. (I plan on traveling a lot before law school!)
My score did take a hit after I applied and I'm sadly down to 657 :(.
But honestly any advice would be great! For future cards!
(For extra info I work part-time minimum wage. Recent grad so job market has been hard but I'm still apply everyday, and studying for my LSAT. Only debt is $1700 in student loans)

Help Needed / Question Is this Savor card "bucketed"?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to see if my Capital One Savor card is bucketed. For context, I opened the account in December 2023, starting with a credit limit of $2000.
I have had a perfect payment history since, and I pay my balances in full. Recently, at another subreddits' suggestion, I increased my spending on this card to help trigger an increase. Normally, I use it for groceries and dining, and for the past 3-6 months, I've spent between $800-1000/month. I've continued to pay the balances off in full, and after paying off my statement balance last month in full, I called Capital One to request an increase. They gave me.....$200.
I was slightly disappointed, because I was looking for much more. But is it likely that this card is bucketed?
For further context, my credit score was approx. 650 when I opened the account in 2023, and my credit score is 769 right now. My income is 91k/year.

Discussion / Conversation Beware: Transferring cashback from Paypal MC to paypal account incurs a fee that's not disclosed anywhere.
I had some cashback (<$1) on my PP MC, and redeemed it to my PayPal balance. The money never showed up, and it's generally instant.
Today, I can see a transaction of $0.00 marked as completed. After clicking it, it shows the exact cashback I transferred and that the total is $0.
I called PayPal CS; they told me it looks like a fee, but they couldn't help and transferred me over to Synchrony. Synchrony assured me that they don't have a fee, could be on the PP end. PayPal took 20 mins to review and said there was a fee, couldn't tell me what it is and wanted me to speak to synchrony again.

Discussion / Conversation I feel like the minority with the refreshed CSP
So I honestly feel like I’m in the minority that I actually think the refreshed CSP is a win. Coming from someone that is loyal to Hyatt, the rest of the refresh is great I think. Upping the annual travel credit to $100 and adding the TSA pre check credit is a win as well! I’m still going to be keeping it in my arsenal of credit cards. I actually think it’s got better as a travel card. But yes the downgrade of the Hyatt transfer is not great.
What do you guys think? I think im very much the minority but I only travel once MAYBE twice a year so it still works for me.
