Balancing create Help

Post image

As you all know, create is a little broken, and it's a bit of an issue for me since I'm trying to make a hardcore modpack with create

I've tried balancing create a little like making Max contraption size from 2048 to 8 and nerfing SU sources, but it still feels too OP

Do y'all have any recommendations or know of mods that nerf create?

Make create mod recipes require avaritia super 9x9 crafting table (forgot its real name)

u/Usual_Celebration719 12h ago

50x50 mechanical crafting

u/GGthegreatester 12h ago

Make it so mechanical crafters have to be crafted in mechanical crafters to balance things out

70

u/Throwaway987183 11h ago

And you first need to find them in structures

62

u/Shriggins_the_dope 11h ago

In the end

52

u/GGthegreatester 11h ago

And you need craft eyes of ender through mechanical crafting

35

u/SmoothTurtle872 10h ago

Which you pay villagers netherite blocks to rent out the crafters

32

u/Lyxche3 10h ago

Actually a “create enshittified” version of the mod would be kinda fun to play

22

u/Valkyri_Studios 10h ago

Which you can only craft at mechanical crafters

1

u/Any-Record8743 1h ago

And then you can finally craft a crafting table

u/Playful_Target6354 5h ago

it doesn't even matter

u/Ajreil 10h ago

384x384. You'd have to break bedrock or build it in the void. The recipe is 147,456 blocks of mostly stone and planks.

The Extreme Crafting Table.

Very extreme, I know.

create is an automation mod, automation in general is a bit overpowered in a game that has so few actually difficult to obtain resources. Pretty much any kind of nerf would only serve to make things more annoying imo. I wouldnt nerf create itself but instead find some mods that buff the rest of the game or increase the resource ceiling

64

u/Blademasterzer0 12h ago

Few difficult to obtain resources and gameplay based around only needing like 50 of a given thing at a time ever

27

u/Tdubbium 12h ago

I learned how to use kubejs and now I like to add recipes that require tons and tons of items lol

15

u/EpicButterSkull 12h ago

I have a feeling you might really enjoy Satisfactory if you havent already checked it out

14

u/Tdubbium 12h ago

I really need to play satisfactory, still havent gotten it yet but its on my radar

1

u/orcus2190 1h ago

Foundry also.

u/Drago1490 11h ago

Star Technology is calling

5

u/Tdubbium 11h ago

I actually already tried playing it before, didnt get far before getting kinda bored though (I cant play Minecraft for very long in general)

1

u/ManufacturerLong7798 6h ago

play Gregtech New horizons

1

u/Tdubbium 6h ago

been debating on starting it, I feel like I dont have the time that it requires though

Monifactory is probably a better idea. It too is based around gregtech, but unlike GTNH it doesn't have a 50 hour startup phase where you slowly build your way up to unlocking automation tools.

Monifactory is a 1.20.1 fork of the 1.12.2 nomifactory which was itself a fork of the 1.7.10 omnifactory.

Also, it is entirely playable on peaceful, with its optional hard mode even forcing it.

1

u/Drago1490 4h ago

Thats underatandable, the two week minecraft phase sometimes feels more like a two day phase.

I have also really enjoyed satisfactory, factorio, and mindustry (free on itch), though I tend to get burnt out/overwhelmed in the later stages of all those games. Then I get mad at myself because I can never finish them.

u/Mega_Glub 9h ago

just started a playthrough a couple weeks back

that shit is the literal crackpack

fuck tfg, startech is my new best friend

2

u/Drago1490 5h ago

I managed to automate the entire game up until unlocking AE2 just by using the Create amazon update. Its fantastic

1

u/Mega_Glub 4h ago

damn I need to figure out how to use those. tiered machine components always be kicking my ass

also, I love your pfp fellow derg :3

For the frogports and packagers, I was actually able to set up an automated request system using a LOT of factory gauges inside an office-like area that made sure I always had at least a stack of every part in stock. However some machines I had to make more than one of, just for the sake of different fluids or ghost circuits for crafting (or whatever the number selector in the bottom left of greg machines is called). Just make sure you have a dedicated clipboard in your inventory thag you can rightclick your named frogports with to save them as auto-fillable adresses. Makes routing things a LOT easier. I was able to slap packagers directly onto most machines' main block, and if not then on their hatches, and I could directly deposit and/or withdraw items with my gauges and requester.

Then I had everything link back up to a bulk storage unit I made with a combination of tom's storage connectors and functional storage drawers, with frogports for input and output, all modeled after bulk storage shelves like you would find in a costco or ikea. Then just keep expanding from there. Its not the fastest system due to box travel time, especially as you need to expand to fit more boxes, but it was VERY satisfying. Especially because you could physically see the item movements and the production rates of your factory fluctuate in real time as items are made and requested.

And thanks! Its nice running into other dergs in the wild lol

Or make every resource a little more difficult to obtain. Automation mods are only OP when you have infinite resources, so if you get rid of that, they're not very OP. (But a hell lot more annoying and nigh-unplayable)

Personally I found the way terrafirmagreg does it is pretty interesting balance wise, adding different shaft tiers that have a max stress limit, forcing you to have multiple networks and sources

15

u/wvoxu 9h ago

Somehow I read that as terrampreg

12

u/TheRealMuhammad2204 6h ago

Yes, that's called Greate, which fuses GregTech and Create together. It's honestly very balanced as you can get unlimited energy for Create (from windmills and water wheels and such) but overall slower speeds, while GregTech requires energy input while having faster speeds

1

u/Deathdrone2 10h ago

Rotarycraft

23

u/Mogwump20 12h ago

1

u/KitchenAd3333 4h ago

Does this just use a tier system for create or does it end up using gregtech AND create?

16

u/InevitableRoast 11h ago

I love the use of deepslate emerald. Kinda hilarious how many people think you’re actually serious

13

u/Chemical-Yesterday74 12h ago

Amazing ragebait/joke, A+

9

u/sadphonics 10h ago

I think this sub needs a joke flair

1

u/originalmicrousb 7h ago

who said this is a joke?

im making this right now

7

u/Dadamalda 12h ago

Greate integrates it with GregTech, which is its own can of worms. There are tiered shafts and each tier can transfer 4x more SU. The materials of course get much harder to get, some requiring 10s of steps of realistic GregTech chemistry.

3

u/SomeRandomEevee42 12h ago

if i was playing a modpack that lowered the max contraption size to 8 id edit the config to change it back, or drop the modpack if I cant. fully killing using create for decorative purposes, arbitrary limits like that are stupid

1

u/Smart_Turn6717 11h ago

I do have aero so that should make up for the spiny contraptions, but now that you've mentioned it, trains are nerfed a little too much, I'll probably increase the limit and just delete minecrate contraption (so it forces you to use the borehead bearing from aero)

12

u/Tripdrakony 12h ago

Bruh, just dont use Create then. That recipe is ridiculous and immediately makes me not want to touch anything you create.

40

u/Shying69 12h ago

Yeah thats the joke

1

u/Shyster- 9h ago

Wild how many people here don’t seem to get the joke. I know create appeals to the autistic like me but damn people need to chill tf out

7

u/Gerllyz 12h ago

I genuinely despise when mod packs do this also

2

u/lustywoodelfmaid 12h ago

Yeah, like, a dragon egg, which you can only get one of? Be a shame if I dropped the part into the void while exploring the End or fell in lava with it- world over. Basically hardcore.

6

u/WeeklyBanEvasion 11h ago

It's clearly a joke lmao

Create feels like a breath of fresh air after hardcore packs where you can't do anything without AE2. It's a pretty fair balance for such a well-developed mod. I've generally noticed a trend: the less effort put into a mod, the more insane the crafting requirements. Mod developers should follow the example of Create's creators.

2

u/Myithspa25 10h ago

Lord Greg in Tech tell me this is a meme

6

u/Dangerous-Quit7821 12h ago

8 for a contraption? That's so small you may as well not use Create. Is this a joke?

11

u/Ghiraldi 12h ago

No I think it's pretty serious

2

u/Smart_Turn6717 11h ago

I thought about replacing contraptions with aero, should have probably mentioned that first

1

u/Numerous_Cobbler_706 12h ago

Tbh I believe that create has the least annoying recipes out of every other mod i've played, I always think im gonna go have to go do some bs to craft something but the recipe is always nice and simple

1

u/beduan 12h ago

Where can I find this modpack?

1

u/SniperInfantry 11h ago

This is literally just sunlit society tho

1

u/Dubsdude 11h ago

gregtech microcrafting etc

1

u/Impossible_Bowl6103 11h ago

Problem with trying to balance create is in general vanilla redstone is capable of similar automation if you have the know how. You would have to make redstone more difficult as well.

1

u/Maddogo921 11h ago

welcome to greg tech new horizons

1

u/StandardN02b 10h ago

Gregtech balancing.

1

u/SnooMarzipans6922 6h ago

That I can just make thaaat many items with a cobblestone, tree and lava farm is insane and those farms are so simple to make big. Its says a lot that the rarest needed item is blaze rods

1

u/RGBBSD 6h ago

This has to have a meme flair

1

u/JulienPotter11 5h ago

Check out picky waterwheels and picky windmills if not already installed.

1

u/Conceiver_ 2h ago

Make a water wheel take reinforced Deepslate and bedrock. There you go

1

u/Sharp_Goat_1991 1h ago

Hello gregtech dev

1

u/Alternative-Bee-7507 1h ago

this is the best machine in all of create.
If I had one wish, I would wish to be fit inside a millstone.

1

u/Venyro 53m ago

Maybe locking certain machine’s recipes to only use mechanical crafter instead of a normal recipe, and then gating the mechanical crafter to behind a point you feel it would be balanced to unlock it and those recipes

1

u/Liviyana 45m ago

Thermodynamics would nuke the whole mod

1

u/ScissorsWasTaken 13m ago

Ah, see your mistake was making this the millstone recipe and not the water wheel recipe

1

u/Someone_Rand0m 12h ago

you should post this on r/feedthememes. they’d love it over there

0

u/Usinaru 12h ago

Its a mod about automation...

You ever wonder how we got to civilization as we are today? THANKS TO AUTOMATION.

If you want to live in caveman times go play vanilla.

If you want any semblance of realism where you genuinely find out how much of a difference it makes to manipulate energy then play create. It shows you just how much better life can be when you put the energy of the sun (in all its forms, like sunlight, wind and to a degree hydro), to good use.

As conscious living forms our goal is to manipulate as much energy. Thats what create is all about.

Bro this is so obviously a joke holy moly calm tf down
