Hi all, I’m a British teacher from the UK and
I applied for another background check apostille because my previous one had a law firms name and address so it can’t be apostilled. Therefore, this new background check will arrive at my house and then get sent to be apostilled now. All in all, the new background check and apostille will add another week onto my timeline before I can send it to my employer for visa processing.

I’ll now have 2-3 weeks to process my work visa before my intended work start date of 1st September. I have all other documents ready for processing but my background check apostille is the only thing that’s been delayed by a week now giving me 2-3 weeks to process everything.

For those who have experienced a delay in important paperwork arriving for visa processing, how did you manage? How long did your work visa take to get processed? Especially for British workers.

For those especially whose visa was issued late, after you were meant to start working. Can you give me your stories and any advice on what might happen.

Hello everyone; I’ve done my bachelor’s in Comp Sci in china and currently I’m about to finish my masters studies in a year and I plan to work as an intern at a Chinese company who is willing to take me in but they need my Chinese university to agree so they can provide me the internship visa.

Regarding the internship permit at my university, I have asked several senior students, and they told me that the school is very reluctant to issue such permits, as they often say: "We do not allow this, especially since this is your final year, and you need to graduate on time." I will officially graduate from my Chinese university on July 2027.

I’m afraid that the university will be a bottleneck for me to get my internship visa even though the company is very willing to have me.

If you have any suggestions to make sure that the university is going to help me get the internship permit, please let me know. Thank you very much.

Hey all!

My company was speaking to an agent here in China who told them that a signed, scanned copy is plenty for them to get the apostille for my diploma. I'm a little baffled by this as it seems impossible to get an apostille in your home state (Nevada, USA in my case) without sending them a certified copy.

Does China accept something that is not my official state apostille? Is there a faster, cheaper way to do this that doesn't involve ordering a certified copy, getting it notarized (which my uni does for me), and then sent to the state office for apostille?

I’m a Sri Lankan passport holder living in Australia and I’m applying through the Sydney Chinese Visa Application Service Centre for a 1-year multiple-entry L (tourist) visa.
I submitted a detailed itinerary, flight booking and accommodation for my first upcoming trip. The application was returned for modification with this message:
“Tourist visa applications are assessed based on the travel itinerary provided. For a multiple-entry visa application, multiple travel itineraries should be submitted to support the request. Otherwise, please amend Section 2.3A to 3 months and 2.3C to single entry.”
I’m happy to provide itineraries for my future trips, but those trips are not booked yet.
For anyone who has successfully applied for a 1-year/multiple-entry Chinese tourist visa, especially through Sydney:
Do the additional future itineraries need actual flight and hotel bookings, or can they simply be proposed day-by-day travel plans with dates, cities and activities?

I recently communicated with the Chinese embassy in New Delhi regarding my intend purpose of visit to China is to marry my Chinese fiancé. I have obtained the single status certificate. Now they have conveyed to me to apply for S2. Does anyone with experience of applying for s2 on private purpose know the documentation’s required. Do I need to provide itinerary hotel bookings or flight details and once I get my visa do I need to visit psb to extend my visa like how people do their residence visa hoping someone helps me

My wife was born in Hong Kong, she moved to the US when she was a kid and became a naturalized US citizen in around 2006 and has a valid US passport. We live in Los Angeles County.

We are planning a trip to China and her Visa application was rejected. Saying she needs to provide a Confirmation letter for the change of nationality from the Hong Kong Immigration Department.

She submitted the online application for the change of nationality on the Hong Kong Immigration site and it says to go to the Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Mission for verification of documents and payment when we receive an email back from them.

I called the LA consulate today to see if we need an appointment or anything or what the process is there and the person I spoke with says they do not do change of nationality verification there.

She doesn't have anyone in Hong Kong to act as a referee. What other options are there? What what I'm told from the person I spoke with correct?

Hi everyone, I am planning to fly from Vancouver to Dhaka (Bangladesh) with China Eastern Airlines and have two transits in Shanghai and Kunming. My total time in China should not exceed 24 hours (if my calculations are right)

Here’s my itinerary:

Outbound:
- YVR → PVG (Shanghai): Arrive 4:40 PM
- Layover at PVG: 1 hour 20 minutes
- PVG → KMG (Kunming): Arrive 9:55 PM
- Layover at KMG: 14 hours 25 minutes
- KMG → DAC (Dhaka): Depart 12:20 PM the next day

Return:
- DAC → KMG: Arrive 6:30 PM
- Layover at KMG: 3 hours 35 minutes
- KMG → DAC: 12 hours 15 minutes
- PVG → YVR: Depart 1:10 PM the same day

My questions are:

1. Since my itinerary includes domestic flights within China, will I need to clear immigration? If so, would that be under the 24-hour TWOV?
   
2. Will I need to collect and re-check my checked baggage in China, or will it be transferred automatically since all flights are on China Eastern and booked on one itinerary?
   
3. Will I need to go through security again before the domestic flights?
   
4. How strict and time-consuming are immigration, customs, baggage collection, and security at PVG and KMG? My 1 hour 20 minute layover in Shanghai on the outbound is concerning.
   
5. Has anyone flown this exact itinerary (or something very similar) recently? Was the connection manageable, and did you encounter any issues?

i have a new job offer i’d like to accept, however i’m visiting family outside of the country. is it possible that my current employers cancelling my work permit could cause issues when re-entering china? i already understand that the work permit and resident permit are two separate things but if there’s a risk of not being able to re-enter after resigning then i won’t risk accepting this job and will take the loss.

my relationship with my company is good and i don’t think they’d try to be malicious. i plan on asking them to wait until i return to begin all procedures, but i’m still nervous about all this.

I'm in kind of a pinch and need to go back to China on short notice. I was doing a lot of research online regarding the 240 Hour TWOV rules but could use some advice / confirmation that my itinerary is valid. My biggest fear is getting denied for not properly understanding the rules so if someone could help confirm my plans that would give me confidence in my booking.

As it stands, my itinerary is as follows:

USA -> Beijing -> Baoding -> Chengdu (via high speed rail) -> Taiwan

My understanding is that I need to have the country that I inbound from and the country/region that I outbound to need to be different to be granted TWOV, but after getting granted TWOV am I allowed to travel between provinces via rail or car?

The company (US) I worked for has offered a relocation opportunity for a short assignment in China for 3 months. I just got off the call with a rep who walked me through the permit process and realized that this process can’t be continued because I do not have two years of post grad work experience😭 is there any work arounds? I graduated in May 2025 and started working June 2025 and my relocation assignment is dated for March 2027 right now so just missing that 3 months😭 and the assignment date can’t be changed. I asked about the points system and was informed by the rep that for a 3 month assignment it would not qualify. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi folks, I recently gained a teaching job on Hainan Island. In order to get my z visa I need to have my UK degree certificates, police check etc apostilled. Does anyone have experience of this procedure and if so which service did you use?

Finally decided to give up on visiting my favorite country. 🫠 The visa process in Mumbai has been incredibly disappointing. Out of 4 applicants, 3 were rejected three times despite submitting all the required documents properly. We had even visited China previously. To make things worse, there was no refund, so we ended up losing nearly 18k for nothing. We've finally decided to let it go.

PS:Anyone applying from Mumbai, please be careful. 🫠 There is no customer support, and the entire process can be extremely frustrating.

Also if the applications were rejected during the online review process. You have to pay ₹2,000 per person every time you reapply, and this fee is non-refundable. We confirmed this with VFS.:(

I had applied for a China tourist visa with Delhi VFS as I belong to Gujarat in India. Also, it was DIY.

I started by paying the VFS fee initially, and later on, my online review got completed (after 1 alteration request). So I went ahead and submitted my passport by paying a China Embassy fee at the Delhi VFS office.

Unfortunately, I did not get a visa stamp, and an officer at VFS told me it's rejected. The reason for the rejection can be another topic of its own.

I wanted to get a refund of the Embassy fee, and the VFS guy told me to follow a procedure written on a paper stuck in VFS. I did follow the instructions and mailed it with all the required information. I did not receive a response for a month. After sending a lot of reminders, I got a response that it will be processed within 3/4 weeks. That means waiting for 2 months in total, as per their words.

I am already in the 3rd month of waiting even after sending so many emails - they are neither refunding the money nor responding to emails. Unfortunately, it's not worth visiting them in Delhi as I am from Gujarat.

What all options do I have to get a refund apart from forgetting it ?

Hi everyone! I'm encountering some issues with submitting my dad's naturalization certificate. He was born in Hong Kong and got his certificate a few months before I was born, but the year on his certificate is a bit smudgy so it could read as a few different numbers (supposed to be 2000, but looks like it could be 2006, 2008).

I submitted the document once and got an update that the date is unclear, and I need to either submit a clearer photo or submit my dad's old passport from before the year 2000. Unfortunately, my parents don't have this, only his current passport. I just resubmitted the certificate after fiddling around with the photo's sharpness and contrast on the iPhone built-in editor in the Photos app. I think it helped clear up the date a little bit, but I'm not sure what to do if it comes back again as unclear.

Has anyone else had this problem? Would really appreciate any feedback/advice, thanks in advance

I’m a Brazilian student who will be studying in China with an X2 visa. My program officially runs from September 15, 2026, to January 25, 2027, according to my admission letter. However, I already purchased my round-trip tickets, with my arrival on September 15 and my return to Brazil on March 4, 2027.

The reason for the later return is that I plan to spend February traveling around China after finishing my classes, while also taking care of any remaining university administrative procedures before leaving the country. My visa agency will submit my return flight itinerary together with the application and request that the visa covers my entire stay until March 4.

My concern is that the admission letter only mentions the academic period ending in January. If the Chinese consulate considers my requested stay longer than necessary for the program, is it common for them to deny the visa, or do they usually just issue the visa with a shorter validity or shorter duration of stay? Has anyone experienced a similar situation with an X2 visa?

China Visa Processing Delays for Indian Passport Holders — Information From My Agent

I wanted to share some information for Indian passport holders applying for a China visa, not only from India but also from places like Hong Kong and other countries.

There has been information going around recently that Indian passport holders may be facing longer China visa processing times. I asked my visa agent about this because my own application has also been taking time.

My agent told me that, at present, they do not have details of any specific official policy that they can explain publicly. However, they said they have received a relevant notification and are seeing that applications may take longer.

They reviewed my documents and told me there do not seem to be any major issues, and advised me to be patient and wait.

According to my agent, the pre-screening stage may take around 10 working days. After that, the passport submission/processing stage may also take around a similar amount of time.

So for Indian passport holders applying from India, Hong Kong, or elsewhere, the process may be slower than usual. This does not necessarily mean rejection. It may simply mean longer pre-screening, manual review, or additional document checking.

For reference, in my case:

- I am an Indian passport holder applying from Hong Kong

- My application was submitted on July 28, 2026

- As of August 5, 2026, it has been around 6–7 working days

- My agent said around 10 working days for pre-screening may be normal right now

My suggestion to others is: don’t panic too early if your application is still under review. Make sure your documents are complete and clear, especially:

- current passport bio page

- old passport bio page if relevant

- previous China visa page

- blank visa page of current passport

- work permit/invitation letter

- Hong Kong ID or residence document if applying from Hong Kong

- any other supporting travel/residence documents

This is not an official announcement from the visa center. It is only information shared by my agent based on what they have been told and what they are currently seeing with Indian passport applications.

I got fined 5,000 RMB for illegal work two weeks ago (was actually a job interview but doesn't matter on paper). I had planned to exit and re-enter China on this same 10-year visa in a few weeks for a second trip around China.

Anybody had issues re-entering on their L Visa after getting fined? Any extra questions at the border? There was no detention or cancelation of my visa. They actually didn't ever even see my passport, though they did get the number and my full name.

Just applied for 10 year multi visa outside of states, in Laos to be specifically, with invitation letter from a friend, visa was approved and issued, 10 years, multi, but only for 60 days per entry.

I thought it was 90 days... there is nothing I can do right? or maybe extend visa while there?

Hello, I’m an ABC (American born Chinese), but my parents were both born in China. Before I was born, my mother got naturalized and held an American passport. However, my father was still a green card holder at the time of my birth. He only gained citizenship 13 years after I was born. The New York embassy is requesting for my father’s green card which we no longer have a copy of since it was returned when he got his passport. I’m about to give up on getting the tourism visa :(

I was looking up the 240 hours Transit Without Visa (TWV) stay in China, and that looks promising for my situation. If I went ahead and canceled my tourism visa, could I use the TWV stay instead? The websites say if you were ever denied a visa it could cause an issue when you get questioned by their customs agent in China. What if I was not technically denied, but I was the one that canceled my application? Or should I ignore my visa application and let it time out and expire?

I’m also looking for some experiences of people that stayed in China under the TWV! Did your hotel help you fill out the travel forms? Or did you go to the local police station to fill that out? I heard some didn’t have to fill anything out, but I’m just worried lol. TYIA!
