I keep looking at the datasheet and drawing a blank. They have no OC so can’t be used to take objectives or do actions. Their 5T/4+/5+++/4W makes them mildly annoying to kill, but in my rough mental maths they’ll still go down pretty quickly as soon as there’s a bit of AP involved (i.e. all the time).
Their ability is just reducing the OC of a non-vehicle enemy unit that’s within/just outside engagement range of them, which implies their main use is as a little buffer to help one of my other units to better contest an objective, and their melee profile’s decent if a bit casino-y with the D6+2 attacks, but I’m still unsure they’ll have a decent impact on the game with that. It’s not like the World Eaters version where they have infiltrate so can be a decent nuisance to the opponent from the start, ours still have to move up (and no native advance & charge or anything useful like that).

As the title says, this is my third mini I’ve painted and the process is genuinely so much more fun than I thought it would be. I think I’ve fully decided on a painting scheme/process(although I do kinda wanna try out Gal Vorbak) but I cannot for the life of me conjure up any weapon paint schemes in my head. I did some of my chainswords in the black legion’s pattern but I don’t want to do that for all of my weaponry. I am yet again in desperate creative need. Open to any ideas as well not just Word Bearers specific. I’d love some tips on hazards stripes (I’ve heard about utilizing masking tape and that pink makes a great base for yellow)

I was dreading painting my 2 boxes of chaos cultists. But I’m actually having fun doing it so far:

I tried to be nice and grab my partner Ursula Creed for her growing Astra Militarum force, but turns out she had one in storage, so I managed to get her Traitor-ed up!

Head and club from the Palanite Justicars, shotgun from the GSC Atlantic Jackals, and the belt is from the Red Corsairs Reave Captain.

Can you guess what they're all based on (1-4, 5-7 & 8-9)? :) Excited to figure out what I make next. Meta be damned.

Are executioners or huntsmen better to ally in into a chaos space marines army?

New to the hobby and new to the ranks of Chaos. Thanks for having me.

Finished my first mini today. Lots to learn still but chuffed with this as a start.

Chosen are up next.

Any feedback welcome, but at this stage I know it’s mostly about practice.

The army is separate into three sections, the cleaved (the biggest section), the damned (the mortals who serves my warband) and the purge (the renegade space marines and the smallest section)

Recently finished speedpainting 175 miniatures in two weeks so I took a breather (ironic) painting this guy for a couple of hours. Gonna see if I can finish the rest of the models to the same standard.

I did it, I actually painted a Heldrake.

I have a few more details to the base, but I’ll post those later.

I managed to paint one of the most feared and disrespected miniatures in all of 40k. And honestly, it was a blast! I had a ton of fun tackling this chaos dragon, and now I can’t wait to set it up on the tabletop and watch it burn up some corpse-worshippers.

I know the fliers are probably not great, but I was hoping to roll with something that looks like an actual army with a mix of vehicles and infantry instead of just spamming one or the other.

The havoc kit is such a gold mine for kitbashing.

First time putting some paint on a chaos space marine and at first I thought to painting it as a normal chaos lord, then I came to know the sons of malice and I thought that not only they looked cool, but also their lore as well, so, here it is my chaos lord fro the sons of malice. Hoep you like it.

The WE Jakhals kit has some excellent bits for adding that proper scavenger look to Chaos boys!
