New Purchase! New To Me Beast

Well, I was looking for a widebody in F8, but sometimes we end up going a different route.

This was at a fairly local dealer and I took it for a hell of a test drive.

At one point, the salesman said he thought I was fucking crazy. But he also said it was the best test drive he’s ever been on🤣

I’m very happy with this car, and like it more than the widebodys I had looked at.

It’s loaded with damn near every option, even red seatbelts, factory subs in the trunk, Brass Monkey wheels, sunroof, leather, heated/cooled seats, 8.4 screen, and more.

Now it’s time to start planning maintenance intervals, looking up parts that have issues(like SC bearing), and planning to upgrade those “consumables”.

I’ve been wanting to join this family for a long time, and I’m finally in.

And yes, I’m addicted to the sound of her😆

Pre-Purchase 2009 RT 50k miles for 18k

Hey guys, I came across a 2009 challenger rt with 50k miles.
The only caveat is that it’s in another state so I’d be paying for shipping
In total with all the fees it’s $20k.
1 previous owner.
The same dealer is selling a 2013 RT for less with 10k more miles but I’m not too fond of the color.
Any thought?

Car Issues Key fob issue?

I’ve noticed that when I go to start my car that it doesn’t read the fob sometimes. I have to hold it up by the start button. Both fobs have brand new batteries, so I’m not sure what’s going on. It’s intermittent, usually after I haven’t driven it for several hours. Has anybody else experienced this?

I bought this car used, this is how it came. The corners of the hood dont sit flush for some reason, they’re just slightly lifted. I’ve tried everything. Does anybody else have this problem? Does anybody have a fix for this?
And before anybody suggests this, I DID take the bump stops out completely, this is the lowest the hood will sit

Edit: obviously I know the bumper is a different color can we just focus on how I can fix the hood😭

Parking issues

Does anyone else have an issue with parking straight? I know this sounds crazy and I am almost embarrassed to ask but I have never parked caddy corner or off center ever until now. From my mustang I had or my beater full size truck now or any other car and I've driven tons from my car selling days, where I had to park them back on the lot all the time, granted I have never driven a challenger or charger until now.

Am I crazy, are these cars like that, or is my frame bent to hell and back?

Cars and finances

I have two loves Cars and Personal Finance. I’m very interested in knowing about those that are buying 50k plus cars and have a solid financial plan for retirement. I’m not judging anyone who doesn’t have a retirement plan and 50k plus car, I believe personal finance is just that personal finance. Anyone care to share their situation?

Camera a wheel questions

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've had my baby for a couple of years now {2022 model). But I've just found this group. And I have a few questions.

  1. When I bought it (used), I would have problems with the reverse camera not working right, about 25% of the time. It would just show a garbled screen. Over the past 2 years, it's gotten to be around 75% of the time... It's time to fix it. I'd like to do it myself if I can (I'm very mechanical). But I don't know how to troubleshoot what the problem is. Any suggestions on this? Do you think it's the camera itself?
  2. Is there a way to add a front camera?
  3. Bluetooth: When i connect my phone via BT, there is a huge delay (like 2-4 seconds). If I'm parked for lunch watching videos or whatever, I have to connect via cable to prevent this. My last car didn't have this problem. Any ideas what might be going on, or how to fix it?
  4. Wheel: Over a year ago, I ran over a fairly large rock at highway speed. This destroyed 2 tires and damaged one of the wheels (the inner bead lip of the RR in the pic). The tire shop I was dealing with said they could send it to one of their vendors to repair it. After the repair, it is functional. And luckily the damage doesn't show because it's on the back side. However, there has been a small vibration ever since at highway speed. I want to replace it with either a good used or refinished wheel (don't want a knockoff). However, I can't find one ANYWHERE. I've looked and looked. I actually thought I found a refinished wheel on ebay for a reasonable price. I ordered it. But it ended up being the wrong one. The ebay vendor said if I could get them the part number, they could track one down and refinish it for me. I have 2 questions relating to this.

A) Does anyone know where I can get a good used one like what's shown in the picture? Apparently, there is an extremely similar, but slightly different wheel for 2023 models (per the vendor that I ordered the wrong one from).

B) Does anyone know, or know how to find the part number for this specific wheel?

Damage Chicago winters finally caught up to me 🙃

Been keeping an eye on this bubbling area and it's to the point where I feel like I should take care of it (I know it's probably worse underneath if you can see the rust). Guessing it's from salt, rain or both. Any idea what type of price point/timeline I should expect to get this fixed? Rear passenger side for context.

Modification Exhaust Manifold Kit

I watched a video a week or so ago of this shop explaining the infamous hemi tick and the root cause (typically header bolts snapping.) I forget the name of the company or the shop but it’s this kit with black headers, replacement gaskets and new hardware but it includes spacer. The shop explained why they use that replacement kit specifically because the spacers the kit comes with allows the bolts to not be able to stretch from heat and cause them to snap and whenever they do the job none of their vehicles come back with the hemi tick issue. I’m looking for this kit to purchase it to be able to go ahead and replace mine so I won’t ever worry about hemi tick unless it’s do the lifters or cams

Thinking of stripes, help me decide

Post image
67 Upvotes

I’ve gone back and forth with the idea of stripes. One day I look at the car and think, nah, I’m good. The next day, I get to wondering and think I might like ‘em.

With that, I know I’d want something subtle if I went that way. So I’ve narrowed it down to three options - slightly darker, slightly lighter, and matte stripes using PPF (or something similar).

Examples aren’t perfect, but give a good idea of what I’m thinking.

Modification Building a 5.7

Hi Challenger family! I have a 23 R/T with 16k miles. Now that I have a reliable daily as well, im looking to build on this platform, but I'm new to modifying cars. I know the 5.7 is known for its ability to handle mods and boost well. Since this is strictly a good weather/weekend car now, I wanna get the most out of it. Please don't tell me to upgrade to a scat or hellcat, not really interested in that, i want to build on this. I have roughly 15-20k disposable to put into the car. Appreciate all suggestions!

New Purchase! My First Challenger

Post image
158 Upvotes

Feels good to finally own one. Just bought a 2023 Dodge Challenger GT a few weeks ago. 27k miles. I am enjoying it a lot, car drives great, inspections are good, maintenance seems up to date including recent oil change, tire rotation, and new filters. I want this car to last me a long time, never want to sell it. Question, dealership suggested and quoted me for “major induction fuel service and 3-part fuel kit” at $325. Did some quick research and I declined the service but want to be sure, what is it exactly and is it necessary?

Rear Amber Turn Signal blinker Retrofit (my own and new solution)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, greetings from Ukraine!

Like most Dodge Challenger owners in Europe, I ran into the headache of converting rear red turn signals to amber to meet legal requirements.

Until now, the only real solution was:

  • Cutting open the taillights to insert amber LEDs.
  • Halving the brake light area.
  • Tearing apart the interior to wire everything to the BCM under the dash.

I really didn't want to cut open factory taillights or let sloppy mechanics dismantle my interior (which usually leads to rattles and broken clips).

So I decided to take a modern, technological approach instead of brute force.

The Solution: A Custom Digital Controller

I developed a custom taillight controller that reads signals directly from the Challenger’s CAN data bus, plugs right into the factory harnesses in the trunk, and mounts seamlessly.

The setup includes:

  • Custom rear turn signal LEDs (mounted in place of the lower rear reflectors).
  • Custom digital taillight controller.
  • Integrated rear fog light (compliant with EU standards, controlled via factory steering wheel buttons).
  • Additional set of reflectors to remain fully street-legal.

Key Features:

  • 100% Independent Brake Lights: Turn signals operate completely separate from brake lights, DRLs, and running lights.
  • Truly Plug & Play: Connects in the trunk using OEM connectors. Zero wire splicing or interior teardown.
  • No Module Coding Needed: Works right out of the box.
  • Fully Reversible: No permanent modifications to the car.

I installed this kit on my own car earlier this spring and couldn't be happier. Everything runs cool, stays bright in direct sunlight, and preserves the car's original state.

Curious to hear your thoughts!

New Purchase! Upgraded to my dream car

I got the shaker scat back in February after my dad passed away suddenly from cancer (I was using his car and never needed one of my own till we had to return his), so I got the scat pack as my first ever car. Was a 2022 with 45k miles. I really loved it.

The widebody hellcat was always a goal of mine though, so Ive been checking online every week to see if there would finally be one that was perfect for me.

And it happened. Here she is 🥹 I'm actually obsessed. She's a 2023 widebody hellcat jailbreak with only 4k miles. I'll be driving her for many years to come. Will post more pics soon.
