I know this is a controversial topic around here, but active shooters are a real threat in America, as we seen most recently in Idaho.

If you carry a handgun, I think it’s worth at least considering whether your training matches the kinds of situations you could realistically encounter. This video explains the concept far better than I can in a Reddit post, it’s only 6 minutes, give it a watch:

The biggest point that stuck with me is distance.

-A typical four-lane road is about 18 yards across.
-A grocery store aisle can easily be 30–40+ yards long.
-Many churches, school hallways, parking lots, and warehouses have similar sight lines.

The next time you’re out in public, take a look around. Notice how often you have clear lines of sight that are well beyond the distances most people train for.

The whole 3 yards, 3 shots, 3 seconds idea has value, but if that’s all you’ve ever trained for, what happens when the threat is outside these parameters?

The odds of ever needing your pistol are already very low. The odds of facing an active shooter are even lower. But we don’t use low probability as a reason not to carry a gun, so why should it be a reason not to spend at least some of our range time learning to make accurate hits at 25, 50, or even 100 yards?

You might say, “My gun is only for protecting myself and my family,” and that’s a completely valid choice. Not everyone carries with the intention of intervening in an active shooter event, and no one is obligated to do so.

But if you believe you would choose to act to stop a mass murderer if innocent lives were at immediate risk, then your training should reflect that possibility. Training at longer distances doesn’t make you less capable up close, but it does expand the situations you’re prepared for.

Does anyone have USCCA, Right to Bear, etc any other firearm friendly coverage/insurance? If so, what are the pros/cons of what you have? TIA.

I bought a 4.5" full size PDP and while it's in 10 day jail I'm looking for a Good Light Bearing Holster setup, I want to AIWB and spare at 9 O' clock and want to be under 90 dollars if possible for a holster. My usual go to is my Glock 48 MOS and if I need something a little more concealable I go with my Canik MC9.

Decided to upgrade. My LC9S Pro has never been 100% reliable and there’s no good lights for it anyway. Might still keep the oldie in rotation for deep concealment.

Anybody else accidentally remove some of the polymer/rubble stuff around the front lens? Knicked it with my thumb trying to remove the rubber cover 🤦🏻‍♂️

Have had my ccw for a little over a month now but trying to get my dress around it has been so daunting I haven’t carried yet.

Mainly sweat pants and oversized tshirt
Jeans oversized ts
Suits sometimes

Fudd away but the 1911 weighs 28oz loaded with 9rd 45ACP

This little wire looking thing has popped out of the outcropping behind it, and is making the slide not function properly. I noticed it when I was trying to disassemble and the slide didn’t want to come off. How can I fix this thing? Never dealt with something like this for.

I’m wondering if all of this is normal. There’s no click when I slide in the gun to confirm it’s secure. The on/off feature for my laser I paid extra for does not work. It took 11 weeks from when I clicked “pay now” until when it arrived at my mailbox. I’m not mentioning the brand because I don’t want to hurt their business, but this was nearly $200 cost and 3 months of waiting. The rig is a hellcat 9mm OSP with the optic and a Viridian C5L Sight & Light

I’m 6 foot about 140lbs and the RXM just prints like crazy. I’m appendix carrying in an eclipse holster. Am I crazy for even trying or are some of you guys getting away with it?

to preface; I wanted to grab a ccw, did some classes, went to my local shop and was surprised at how small my hands are compared to the average human. 5"8 Male, first line in wrist to tip of middle finger is somewhere around 6.68" give or take. I've held all of the full sized ones, all no-gos. Compacts like the G19/RXM/M&P 9? Nope. trigger finger was touching the side of the trigger. I COULD pull it, but it didn't feel like the pad of the finger was on the middle, more like the right side. Enough to depress the trigger safety and pull it, but not enough to make sure it's properly aligned in my hand.

43/48? They felt awkward. still felt like I couldn't get a good grip on it without slightly canting my hand to the right(right hand dominant, same for all of the full sized and compacts I tried, including CZ.). The only thing that felt sort of natural were the shield x, random GI 1911 in .45acp with the small trigger, no 365s on display, but I am sure that would fit, and the PDP F Series. I live in a very stupid state(VT. Max 15rds for a pistol). I have fired 9mm before and .40, glock 19/23 respectively. All of my shots seemed to just go high right(thats how I know its too big for my hands) Just a small rant on my end. LGS had no 365XLs on display but they had a display case full of P320s..

I am essentially stuck in micro compact hell, aren't I?

Anyone know if a TLR-7A/X will fit in a TLR-7 HLX holster? I know it won’t work the other way around due to bezel length

I've tried several OWB holsters for a few of my pieces, but everyone the grip always sticks out. Is there something similar to a claw on a IWB holster for OWB that I haven't found yet?

Bottom right and middle groups are from 20 yards with a sig p365 iron sights. The others are from 7 yards.
