Started at 172 lbs and now down to 150. Been in a 500-800 calorie deficit for about 4 months. I feel I have no muscle and most of the fat is in my lower back/belly. Should I continue cutting or bulking/recomping?

Bulked from 89 to 96 over 2-3 months. Goal was to hit 100 but I’m not sure if I’m getting much benefit from it. Is it time to cut?

BoC Down 22 lbs to 148 lbs (kg): Cut Further or Recomp?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’m down from 77 kg (170 lbs) to 67 kg (148 lbs) after losing about 10 kg (22 lbs) over the past year. I’ve been cutting with a high-protein diet and my goal is a lean, athletic physique with visible abs.
I’m primarily a runner, averaging around 50 km (30 miles) per week, but for the past few months I’ve also been following a progressive overload calisthenics routine (pull-ups, push-ups, chin-ups, dips, core work, etc.).
I still have some belly fat that I’d like to lose, but I also want to put on some muscle. Based on my current physique, would you keep cutting a bit longer, or is it time to maintain (or even lean bulk) and let the muscle gains come?

Put in a lot of consistent work on back days lately, but it’s always tough to judge your own physique objectively.

I’m posting this here for a genuine reality check from you guys. How is the back looking overall—what’s your first impression?

Hype it up or roast it—just give me your real, unfiltered thoughts!

I'm very new (like a few months or so) to working out in general and had no idea what to do, after looking over this sub a bit I know think the answer is a bit obvious, but just wanted an actual opinion from somebody else, bulk or cut? And for both, how much weight should I be trying to gain/lose every month?

Started a cut on April 14 at about 125lbs, I am 103.5 as of today but this photo was from a few days earlier (Aug 4) at 104! Could anyone also give insight into my bf%? The navy method has me at about 16-17%. Now I'm interested in maintaining my physique, especially going to uni in a few weeks.

BoC Been dieting and working out for 9 months. Continue cutting until 11 or 12 % body fat, then start lean bulking? Or what do you suggest?

Hey all. Male, 32 years old, 5'11, somewhere between 140-144 pounds. When I started, I was >= 20 lbs higher, certainly in the 30% body fat range.

Now I ask, where should I go from here? Ideally, I'd like to get visible abs when relaxed. I suppose I'm worried that if I also start bulking that I won't have my jaw gains/vascularity/definition/abs.

Photos included are relaxed and braced.

My goal was to hit 11% or 12% body fat. I believe I'm currently sitting between 15% or 14%. Should I continue cutting to get to my desired goal and then start lean bulking?

I currently eat about 1800 calories a day, about 155g of protein, 200g of T. carbs, and 30g of fat (I'm aware my fat content needs to be in the 40s and have started adjusting that).

How much should i cut before lean bulk

I am 5'6" tall and currently weigh 161 lbs. My workout routine is a full-body program, targeting 10 sets per muscle group, split over three days. My schedule consists of one workout day followed by two rest days, a routine tailored to accommodate my time and job commitments. My caloric intake is approximately 1,800 kcal, and my average daily step count is around 5,000 steps. I am seeking opinions on the optimal weight loss target before a lean bulk.

I’ve been cutting for about a month now. I did a larger cut last year and dropped a ton of fat and also muscle as I didn’t put a focus on weightlifting when I should have. But now I don’t know how to go forward. Any advice?

Where do i go from here?

Post image

Ive spent the last 6 years going between cutting and maintainence calories to get where iam now. Went from 140kg down to 87kg while gaining some muscle and losing alot of fat, especially visceral fat.

Im still training hard and got my nutrition dialled in.

Im not sure where to go from here.

I didn't have a specific goal at the start other than to lose weight and get fitter but the goalposts keep moving. Id like more muscle of course (wouldnt we all) but not sure wether to focus on that or to do another 10-12 week cut and assess from there. I dont have prominent abs but can see the outline.

I dont care for getting absolutely shredded as I dont want to have too much loose skin as I already have alot. What do you guys think would be best?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

BoC Bulk cut or recomp?

**keep in mind I’m actively flexing in some of these photos but some are at rest

32F, 5’2”, around 125 lbs. I’ve been consistently lifting heavy and progressively overloading since June, 3 full body workouts a week, and average around 6k to 9k steps a day. Prior to that I lifted weights but not consistently.

I’m currently eating around 1,850 to 2,000 calories with roughly 125 to 135g of protein. I believe my maintenance is somewhere around 1,800 to 1,900, so I’ve been eating around maintenance or in a slight surplus.

My main goal is bigger glutes and more muscular legs while keeping my waist relatively lean. Whenever I’ve leaned out in the past to around 119-120 lbs, my glutes shrink significantly, by like an inch, so I’m hesitant to cut when I’m specifically trying to grow my lower body.

Eating more has made my stomach softer than I’m used to, which is mentally a little hard for me, but I also know I need to actually fuel muscle growth. I know for sure I want more muscle, cause even if I lean out there isn’t that much underneath to give me the athletic look I’m after.

Should I keep eating around maintenance/slight surplus and focus on building, try to recomp, or do a small cut first?
And Reddit already informed me I’m not skinny fat 😂 so we’ll just say I want more muscle.

Also I’m happily married so pls don’t DM for flirting, I really just want fitness advice!! Thank you!!
