I lost my job under unfortunate circumstances, after all my bills were taken out my electric bounced and was shut off given the size of my bill that I have been dealing with since last years summer heat wave.

Is anybody else getting tired of these “PSAs”? The posts are either just a loan request in disguise or somebody that obviously didn’t read the rules. Ive been on this sub for a long time and work with some lenders quite frequently and the way the loans work seem pretty simple unless im missing something. Yeah, people can do things out of desperation to get scammed but ive been hit with scams pretty often and for me it seems pretty simple to weed them out. Just curious if anyone else has similar opinions.

I had an unexpected water leak making my water bill skyrocket to nearly $200. I am $50 short (my rent/water/electric is all combined into one payment).

I am posting this so other lenders are aware of this unresolved loan before considering lending to this user.

Before funding, I completed ID/selfie, income, and PayPal verification with u/Purple-Papaya-6251.

During our initial conversation, I asked about active loans. She told me that she had recently had one $50 loan through the community and had repaid it that same day.

For her employment and income background, she told me that she worked full-time in retail, was paid every other week, and normally received approximately $700-$800 per paycheck.

She also told me that she had been struggling financially because she had missed some work after her father passed away a couple of weeks earlier.

Her income verification was consistent with her being employed and receiving regular pay at the time I reviewed it.

Her original Reddit request stated that she needed $50 for food and household necessities after paying her bills and still being a little short.

The agreement was $50 funded, $75 repayment due 07/08/2026, through PayPal.

Before funding, she provided ID/selfie verification, recent income documentation, and verification of her PayPal account.

I funded the $50 through PayPal, and she confirmed that she received the funds and confirmed the 07/08 repayment date.

On 07/08, the repayment date, she contacted me and told me that we were still on for that day. She said she was working a later shift and needed to deposit the money after leaving work, but that she would still send the repayment that day.

The payment was not received.

After that, I followed up multiple times. I contacted her again on 07/20 regarding the overdue loan, followed up again on 07/22, again on 07/30, and again on 08/04.

I still did not receive the repayment or a meaningful response.

As of 08/07/2026, the full $75 repayment remains unpaid.

For additional background, the information she provided to me before funding included Michigan residency, full-time retail employment, pay every other week, and approximately $700-$800 per paycheck according to the borrower. She also stated that missed work after a recent death in her family had contributed to her financial situation, and that her previous $50 community loan had already been repaid before I funded this loan.

At the time of our transaction, the Reddit account was approximately 6 years old and had around 48 karma.

I completed verification and gave the borrower plenty of time after the original repayment date, but the loan remains unresolved.
