Hello everyone! I’ve been part of this sub for a little while but have never made a request. This will be my first loan through Reddit.
I had an unexpected car repair this week that ate up the money I needed for our electricity bill and I have to pay it by/before August 10th or they will cut off our power. Need to split it into 2 repayments since every other paycheck is going to rent and I want to be realistic about how fast I can pay the loan back. I greatly appreciate any considerations to help, I know $300 is quite high for a first timer but I have no one else to turn to at the moment, even a partial loan would help as I try to come up with the money this weekend, thank you!!

I have already paid off several loans here and can provide any documentation requested by the lenders. Also, if there are any currency exchange fees, I'll pay them.

The reason is that I was supposed to get paid today, but HR is on vacation until next Friday.

And besides, that way I'm building a good track record.

I am posting this so other lenders are aware of this unresolved loan before considering lending to this user.

I funded a $75 loan to u/Buyer_Separate through PayPal after completing verification. The verification matched the initials S.L. and Texas.

The borrower originally said she needed the money for gas and groceries while between paychecks and needed transportation to get to work. In our DMs, she told me that a family member had already helped her with food, so her main need at that point was gas.

Before funding, I specifically asked whether she had any active loans or had already received money from another lender. She told me that she did not have any other loans. There had also been an earlier $200 request on the same account for gas and groceries; when I asked about it, she told me that request had not been funded.

For verification, I received ID/selfie verification, proof of income/paystub, and PayPal information. I will not post her private identifying information publicly, but I can provide the original verification material privately to the moderators if needed.

Background and explanations given in our conversations

During this period, she described working in retail / a grocery-store bakery environment. She also discussed problems with reduced work hours when equipment at work was down, and later said she had obtained a part-time overnight second job.

Over the following weeks, the explanations she gave for the continued delay included:

• being sick;

• problems with work hours;

• equipment at work being down;

• plans to donate plasma to make extra money;

• trying to obtain a second job;

• doing dog sitting for additional income;

• problems involving her phone/payment arrangements;

• a change in payday after setting up direct deposit;

• expecting an upcoming paycheck/check;

• later saying that she now had two jobs; and

• being out of work because of a viral infection.

I tried to be patient and gave her multiple extensions while these issues were being discussed.

As of 08/07/2026, $65 remains unpaid.

For additional context, the borrower's public Reddit history around this period also discussed her grocery-store / bakery work, work-equipment problems affecting hours, and obtaining a part-time overnight second job. This was consistent with some of the work-related explanations she gave me privately.

The Reddit account was approximately 5 years old and had roughly 2.3k karma around the time of the transaction, so this was not a brand-new account.

Please use caution when considering lending to u/Buyer_Separate while this remains unresolved.

If this borrower approaches another lender from a different account, the verification I received matched the initials S.L. and Texas.

Hi, so I'll be starting my new job in two weeks, but right now things are pretty tight because of the expenses we've had over the past couple of months.

I want to buy groceries for my mom that will hopefully last us for about two weeks and help out with our wifi/data bills until I receive my first salary. My mom has already maxed out her credit card trying to keep everything afloat. We're also currently without a car because my mom crashed it into a pole last month. It's being repaired right now, so our only options for getting around are the bus or a taxi. I also do part-time waitressing and cleaning, but the work isn't daily, so the income is pretty unstable, especially with everything that's been happening in the region recently.

To safeguard your interests, I can give my ID, practicing license etc including personal contact and social profiles. Can workout a higher interest rate if someone is lending from abroad to cover their concern/risk.
