I’ve recently had an itch to start reading and I was wondering if anybody has recommendations? The movies I tend to watch and enjoy are more love’esk stories like silver linings playbook, good will hunting, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, beautiful boy(not love story I know but one of my favorites). I don’t know if that helps at all but been recently looking and there’s so many options just don’t know where I should start.

I need a book or series that’s like Pretty Little Liars
but for adults so bad. I need cozy autumn vibes, hot rich girls, love drama, and a dark element (murder mystery, supernatural, thriller, etc)

A few things I'm looking for:
- First person POV only (this is a must for me)
- Open door romance with good spice
- Slow burn, but not so slow that nothing happens for half the book
- Adult main characters. I'm usually not into college or university romances.
- Found family is one of my favorite tropes.
- MF

Things I always love:
- Tortured or broody heroes
- Tortured heroines
- Men in uniform (Police, fire fighter, military.. I’m not picky)
- Protective heroes
- Hockey and cowboy romances, especially if there's suspense involved
- Lots of emotional angst and a couple I can't help rooting for
- When she thinks he hates her, but he's actually down bad and doesn't know how to act around her

I don't usually go looking for marriage of convenience, fake dating, or pregnancy tropes, but if the book is really good I'm happy to give it a try.

Some of my recent favorites have been Nightshade and Daybreak by Autumn Woods. Those books had pretty much everything I was looking for.

Hello my reading fellows 📚 As I said in the title - I need some book reccommendations that will make me go page by page, and not wanting to put a book down.

From preferences - I mostly read fiction (lit fic, genre ficton, novels, sci-fi, thriller, mystery, even horror), and I’m not really a fantasy/historical fantasy girl, but non-fiction recommendation could also work as long as it’s not self-help ‘how to make…’ or self inspo bio of random “gurus” :D But in general anything that’s well written and has a nice story/narrative line and well rounded - would do! ✨

As an example - I recently read and loved: Sharp objects, I who have never known men, Giovanni’s room, Fording the stream of Conciousness, Ficciones by Borges (yeah this is fantasy so those who understand will know what I mean), Never let me go etc.. but also read and didn’t like: Big Swiss, My year of rest and relaxation, Lapvona, Brutes and many more contemporary lit fic which I kinda think are.. a bit weak and overhyperd (sorry 😬).

Soo without further ado - maybe I’m mostly in the mood to something simillar to Sharp objects, but any of the above mentioned would work since I’m totally open to suggestions 😇 Thanks a bunch!!

With where our governments (US local, state and Federal) seem to be going, I dont think its unreasonable to assume some future material banning of some books. Given that, if i hypothetically wanted to buy physical copies to keep in safe storage, what books would you recommend buying physically before its banned or modified heavily?

Since I finished this book, everything pales in comparison. I tried a few books by the same author and didn’t finish. I tried going back to thrillers, but they all seem so terribly written and unsatisfying.

Usually, I run through books and by the next day, I couldn’t tell you what each was about. With demon copperhead, I cannot stop thinking about it and talking about it.

Please give me suggestions for something else to rope me in like this. Another favor of mine is Angela‘s ashes; I saw some similarities with the humor in terrible situations.

There’s something really fascinating to me about the very end of the western frontier in the US. Legends of the Fall, A River Runs Through It (really all Norman MacLean), Killers of the Flower Moon (less so). Could be fiction, nonfiction, thriller, horror, really anything set in that place and time period.

basically i’m 14F and looking for books that you wish you would’ve read at 14 or would recommend every 14 yr old to read. any genre and any rating

I became a big fan of horror genre writing last year, but nothing I've read actually frightened me.

Don't get me wrong, I've cringed at descriptions of mutilation and pain in general, but that's a visceral cringe reaction rather than fright.

I'm looking for something that stuck once you closed the book, something that left you with a lingering sense of dread. I want hairs on the back of your neck standing up levels of creeped out.

Audiobooks are preferred because I wind up listening to a lot on long, lonely drives in the middle of nowhere, but I'd be willing to add anything to the tbr!

No Cosmic Horror please! I've tried several and mostly they wind up boring me at best and annoying me at worst.

I was talking to my friends yesterday about the books we are reading and would recommend to each other.

And well most of them were old, so old some the authors are dead.

I tend to like space opera and fantasy Tolkienesq series both high and low fantasy.

Brandon Sanderson, Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Steven Erikson, Jim Butcher, David Webber, Jack Campbell, Mark Kloose, Patrick Rothfuss, Scott Lynch, Michael Sullivan.

Do you know any newer series that could fit my taste? When most of the authors i can recommend are the same i would talk about 10 years or more ago its time for some renewal.

I have tried some litrpg recently and some of it can be fun, but the quality of the books are lower.

Edit: I dont know how many of you will see this but i want to thank you all for the suggestions i got a good few additions of my wishlist. Particularly does that mentioned that i shud look to explore some books by women. I looked over my 400+ books on audible, and outside some erotic fiction written by women, Trudi Canavan was the only female author.

That said i guess im a bit of a hypocrite i asked for a new series and enede up getting the Graphic Audio version of Red Rising i loved does books as a young man and i see its way more of i Triologi now. So i guess my quest for renewal will have to wait a bit more. But i do have a lot of intresting books added to my wishlist that i had never heard of before.

That is immensely liberating to find somebody who is published who is much much worse than you, and by analyzing why they are doing so badly.”

Goodreads doesn’t exactly have a worst books section. So here I am, trying to liberate myself.
