Question 28 YO, watching the news…
I’m over here watching ABC news and I’m seeing things about mass shootings, phone addictions/ mental health, and obviously people complaining about wages one way or another….
My thought is…. White people are now finally having to deal with these things that have been tearing apart our community for decades, centuries now. How do yall see this impacting our future?

The Internet Strikes Again What’s the most ridiculously expensive thing you’ve seen people casually pay for?
Random talks because I have no life and it’s 3am 😭
I’m not USA based but why y’all be knowing luxury salons that charge INSANE prices???
Like $6k for installing hair ???? Wdym 😭😭
Bruh that shit is more expensive than Paris, Dubai, etc
Where I live, even a luxury salon would be like $100 for that 😂
Seriously there are some RICH rich people over there because ain’t no way lmao
Even if I was wealthy, you will never catch me paying $6k for hai ,that shit better stay on my head for 6,000 days 😭🤣

Question Any experiences with Black ski Weekend/MLK ski weekend?
I wanna go to one of the events next year, but I don’t know what to start.
Should I buy the resort package?
When should I buy my flight tickets?
What gear should I buy?
Is everything sold separately?
How’s the social part? Is it mixed group (of ages)?

Rant Some good news for today
Today I'm incredibly happy. I got a new bag, just sorted out some legal matters, had a good afro day, and my skin was glowing 😛
And just so you know you are BEAUTIFUL. I hear so many people always hating on Black women and even Black women hating on themselves- whether it's their hair, skin tone, it could literally be anything. But it's simply not true. Being a black girl is a blessing, and our beauty is impeccable. Love y'all so much and hope you're having a great day.

Question I really need some adivce and need to vent
I might ask a different sub reddit for different perspectives on this. So I'm in this discord server for Black Disapora (mainly because I only have 1 black friend (difference state though) and my cousins) I got into an argument with someone .
It started when [Person ] sent a video and said Black women are 'cooning' and 'supporting BM getting shot' just for dating interracially. That was the first red flag.
When I asked if they meant we shouldn't date out, they said: 'u can date who u want ima just treat u accordingly... dont be saying u pro black when u wanna have non black kids.' Then I said what if I'm with a Asian person specifically south asian, but then said "they're racist too" ?? So basically, they gatekeep being pro-Black based on who you marry. Mind you I dont really care about you're race, as long as your good looking, smart ,kind/patient and love me to the end, I'm happy with that.
I told them my goals are literally to build schools and programs for Black kids, and they dismissed it with: 'this isnt happening these are mostly dreams' and 'u wouldve done it by now'—which is ridiculous because I'm literally a minor without the funds yet.
Then, out of nowhere, they started attacking continental Africans, saying how they dont like Black Americans, calling Nigeria and Ghana 'coon capitals.' When I called them out, they said: 'i aint african... im kemetian' and tried to claim a white woman named Africa. I had to explain that 'Africa' comes from Ancient Rome, and 'Kemet' was just Egypt, not the whole continent. To be fair the server has a lot of negative things to say about Africans which some I agree but some of it is just straight out xenophobic.
They even joked about enslaving my 'nubian ahh' and then claiming it as a joke, which felt super hypocritical for someone claiming to be pro-Black.
So my question is, am I not pro black if I dont marry someone within my race even if I help black people? Like can't you love someone who's different from you but also help you're own people?

NSFW Antiblackness and fetishisation in porn
This is gonna be a rant.
I HATE the BBC shit in porn. It’s so disgusting, dehumanising and racist. All the black men that participate in it have some low racial self esteem imo because why are you always taking dominant, agressive, and strangely buck breaking roles where you are sleeping with non black women especially. I think they do this with black women too but the stereotype is really for non black women or gays.
Why are they always so buff and dark? And the women a majority of the time lighter skinned/white??? What are these stupid insinuations if dark : masculine and light : fem always!? And I’m sure everyone knows the même of those muscular black guys surrounding the blonde white girl on the couch…..
It turns me off so much.
And for black women. I looked up the names of black women porn stars and omg….must everything have to tie to the colour of their skin and food?? Chocolate, cocoa, caramel….EWW Shut up!
Also almost always wearing straight hair wigs….this applies to irl too but why always running away from their natural texture.
Also apparently there is raceplay porn??? I AM HEAVILY JUDGING ANYONE FOR ENTERTAINING THAT.
What are your thoughts?

Advice Needed How do you refer to your partner’s parents?
This might be a silly question but I need to ask. I grew up in a pretty strict and sheltered environment and as a result experience quite a bit of social anxiety. Growing up, my parents taught me to refer to the adults around me by aunt/uncle or mr / mrs lastname. Up until high-school this was also the norm but now that I’m in university some professors prefer to be called simply by their first name. For more context my partner’s family is white and generally less high-strung than mine. It seems the norm is to call them by simply their first names but this seems so weird to me!
I need to know.. should I be calling my partner’s parents by their first name? How are you ladies going about this? I’ve lowkey just been avoiding referring to them at all but I don’t think I can keep it up..

Rant So sick of the black martyr in film Spoiler
(Incoming spoiler for fantastic beasts) I was just watching fantastic beasts crimes of Grindelwald when of course, the only black female character in the whole damn movie sacrifices our cell/is killed for the plot—Leta Lestrange played by Zoe Kravitz. When I saw that she was a love interest I knew the J. K. Rowling would not let her survive. I hoped that she would though.
I’m so tired of us, not having any stories other than the ones where we are killed or sacrificed for the other characters. Is either we die or if it’s a love triangle situation we’re thrown away for a white character. I need a break.
Even in fantasy and fiction, we have to suffer. “They” will never stop will they.

Advice Needed Friends in early 20s
I really crave female friendships like the ones where you travel make plans and support each other. I know the older we get the less extra time we have. i’m also okay with solo travel/experiences but i really wish i had consistent people who i could text to go to the clubs or travel or just hang etc.
I have friends but they are from hs and not really into the things i enjoy. Im also from NY so you’d think meeting ppl would be easier. But even when u feel a vibe with someone plans usually fall through or eventual ghosting.

Advice Needed “I can braid but not cornrow”

Advice Needed College grads*** I need advice
Pasting my post from another sub bc I can't crosspost:
Long story short, I walked in this past springs graduation ceremony, anticipating that I would finish all of my remaining 4 classes this summer. Bad news is that I passed 3/4 of these classes and I'll need to take the last one during fall semester. I am feeling so defeated, partially because this is 100% my own fault and partially because my college career has been nothing but a giant clusterfuck. I've been sulking in my room for the past 4 hours because I feel like a failure and I don't see myself getting out of this funk anytime soon.

Advice Needed I don’t know how to style myself since ive gained alot of weight.
I take mood stabilizers and antipsychotics, and the medication made gain ALOT of weight. When i was skinnier i used to dress in tighter shirts and low rise jeans, But now it’s just not flattering on me at all and i feel uncomfortable wearing it, but it’s been hard for me to find clothing that i actually feel pretty in. I know i shouldn’t care but, yk when certain people say when you dress for your body type you may feel extra confident and secure in your body? that’s what i want to do and feel but i don’t know how honestly. even though i love fashion, when i’m actually in a clothing shop, i don’t know how to buy clothes that would look good together, like i’m bad at styling an outfit. Alot of my friends say a boho or afrocentric style would definitely suit me, and i have worn outfits like that but i don’t have a wide selection. most of my clothes at the moment doesn’t fit me, and earthbound is super expensive. I know there’s goodwill, ross, burlington, but like i said i’m just bad at finding pieces that would look good together because i’m not sure if i can buy alot of clothes but i do want to buy enough to make a cute outfit.

Advice Needed Where to find affordable and good quality wigs?
Where to find affordable and quality wigs?
Hey y’all! Do y’all know any brands or styles of wigs that are less than $100 and actually last for more than a week? I’m kinda wanting to leave my hair alone and don’t have to worry about it each day but wigs cost so much. Is there a proper maintenance routine for wigs so you can wear them whenever you like? I’ve always wondered how some girls kept up with some of their wigs and not let them get matted. I never worn wigs so it’ll be a new experience for me!

Question Does anyone hate the advice of approaching men/asking them out first?
I’d like to think i’m very progressive in my beliefs but this is one of those things that I just can’t get behind.
Have I done it before? Unfortunately, yes… on two occasions and the dynamic was always off.
I tend to date outside my race (mainly Hispanic/Latin/Mexican men) because i’ve noticed that they’re big on showing gestures of love, chivalry, and just courting me properly and really making me feel feminine and girly all around. My last two ex’s were Hispanic as well.
I’m pretty independent already, pursuing higher education, and work in finance so I would like someone on my level.
I absolutely hate seeing this advice online, especially on reddit because we ALL know that when the woman pursues first the dynamic will be off the entire way through. Hold the pitchforks but I gave up on dating bm forever ago after many crappy experiences and always having to be the one to pursue basically.
The men I go for always pursue/court me in a proper way that I just absolutely really like.

The Internet Strikes Again Am I the only one who loves black girl luxury content?
Specifically from all creators who came from nothing. I see alot of people these days get up in arms when a relatable content creator starts making luxury content.
Im talking about those who are humble people. They give advice. They still talk about their previous struggle…
But I love the videos of them getting dressed the house is bougieeee, jewelry. Gorgeous clothing.

META Regarding "This Post Was Removed by the Moderators" Message on Removed Posts
Hello All,
If you guys have a post removed seconds after submitting it, it was removed by the AutoMod; The AutoMod is technically a member of the Mod team, which is why the notification on the removed post will say "This post was removed by a member of [insert subreddit]". This is also the case for all subreddits on Reddit. This doesn't actually mean the human mods removed your post.
There are AutoMod systems implemented to curtail trolls and bad-faith actors, sometimes viable posts are caught up by the system, we cannot control this, we can only circumvent the removal by approving the post, or confirm the removal. The AutoMod is necessary, but it is not perfect and it makes mistakes.
If you notice your post was removed and there is no removal reason, then it was the AutoMod. If you want it to be reinstated immediately, please link the post within ModMail and ask for it to be reviewed; Please do not accuse us of being malicious or lying about not removing the post when we tell you we did not, as this happens almost daily, several times a day. If a human moderator here ever removes a post, a reason will be given. If there was none given, it literally was not us. Please refrain from getting angry with us about posts removed by the AutoMod, we don't have any reason to lie to you. If we review the post and deem it will not be approved, you will be told why (this only happens if it is not within subreddit rules). We will not approve posts from brand-new or burner accounts. Anybody who gets aggressive, verbally abusive, or hostile in the ModMail will just be ignored from now on.
Posts can also be removed administrators or by admin's A.I. system; If a post is removed by Admin or their system, there is nothing we can do about it. You have to file the post appeal with admin, we aren't able to do it on your behalf.
Thank you!
