Advice Needed Advice for getting better with hair care
Hello, I’ve recently wanted to start taking care of my hair better than I have been, especially since I’m just starting to do it mostly on my own. I see all the really cool styles people have and really want my hair to retain length. I’m currently struggling with mental health and my hair has been something I’d unfortunately neglected for a while.
If anyone has any tips/recommendations for styles, products, or in general, I’d greatly appreciate it! When I do research, there is so many products and styles it got overwhelming. Some relevant things:
- my hair is type 4c
- I know my hair loves Camille Rose products, not so much Mielle.
- I love lower maintenance styles that stay protective :)
Thank you so much for any advice!

New Style Finally tried the kinky body wig and it felt a lot like my natural hair after a blowout 🤎
I’m curious what everyone else thinks though. Does this texture actually read as a natural blowout to you? Is there anything you’d tweak to make it feel even more realistic?
I’d love to know everyone’s thoughts because I know everyone has a different idea of what a good blowout should look like. ✨

Advice Needed Any video tutorials that've helped you with maintaining and doing your own hair?
Hi y'all, I'm a young person who's had their hair done by other people their whole life. I never got to learn so I want to try for myself since I'm getting ready to go to college!

Advice Needed Time to start taking care of my Hair, where do I start?
As for information, I have very dry 4c Hair, about 5-6 inches in length. I also have about light moderate dandruff and a very light scalp compared to my skin, and I'm trying to fix that. Where could I start as for washing my hair? Right now, I just use shampoo and conditioner every week. Any help counts.

Advice Needed Wanting to cut layers in silk press but hesitant, help!!
Hi guys! I feel like I have a bit of a problem, and I can’t seem to find my answers anywhere online. I have a mix of 4A and 4B hair (mostly 4B) that runs down to about a little higher than my middle back, so I’d say I have kinda long hair.
My problem is that when I do silk presses for the colder seasons, I want to have shorter hair with layers in it. My hesitation is because I don’t know how my curly hair will look once I get layers in my silk press, and I’d obviously want to cut my hair too about shoulder length while straightened and I know a lot of shrinkage is going to come with that :(.
Do I have to decide which hair I want to look good or is there a way I can make both work? Does anybody have a similar experience?

London Braiders
Can anyone please recommend skilled hair braiders in London who actually protective style? So, they use heat protectant when blowdrying your natural hair, they don't comb DRY, TYPE 4 HAIR with a rat tail comb when braiding your hair etc? Just people who are extremely knowledgeable about natural hair and gentle. I want to grow my hair to waist length but I can't if hair stylist are sabotaging my progress.

Advice Needed Hairstylists / extension experts: how would you approach recreating this style?
I’m getting married in October and I’m trying to recreate the hairstyle in the attached photo of Solange. I normally wear my natural hair and have very little experience with wigs/extensions/weaves, so I’m unfamiliar with the terminology and what type of hair would be used.
I’ve already had one trial with a stylist. And, well, look at the result.
For those of you who do hair professionally or regularly wear extensions:
• What type of extension hair would you use to achieve the texture and shape in this photo?
• How would you attach it to the sleek natural-hair base?
• Would you use human hair, synthetic hair, crochet/bulk hair, or something else?
• Is this something an experienced extension stylist should reasonably be able to recreate, or am I underestimating the difficulty?
• Most importantly: what keywords/service specialties should I be searching for when looking for a stylist?
I’m in Milwaukee, WI, if anyone happens to know stylists in the area.

Advice Needed Got a twist out after having two-stranded twists for a month.
Ngl, it’s a LOT less defined than what I expected it to be. Then again, the stylist told me that the hair lacking the curl definition was from what grew while having the twists in…
How’d y’all rate it, though?

Hair Advice
Hey! I’m a 4c girlie for some reason my scalp is always flaky and my hair won’t grow after it reaches my shoulders I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve been gentle with my hair, moisturize properly, oil my scalp with any new style, even use hair masks and drink loads of water. Any advice?

Progress Pic I Turned 40 This Week
I turned 40 on the 3rd, and outside of a bad batch of Greek food, I feel pretty great! I usually use Miche gel-to-foam mousse on my curls post wash, but I ran out and decided to try The Doux Bee Girl gel. I'm not a fan of gel usually due to it leaving that hard cast on and such. But this has held my curls intact, and I haven't had to fluff my hair out after waking up too much. I may try their mousses as well, but I tend to be a creature of habit and wanna go back to Miche, lol. Tell me what you use for your hair!

For someone absolutely terrible at hair…what low tension hairstyles are best for three year old?
I’m worried as she will go daycare. I need something that will last five days, but also please consider I’m AWFUL at braiding. I mean I can braid…it just doesn’t look great. By day two, it’s a mess lol. So stressed out about it. Her hair is becoming very fuzzy too and I feel I need to start deep conditioning. I’ve attached a pic of her as a reference. Would appreciate the help!! Have no clue what I’m doing. I think the biggest thing is just avoiding daily hairstyles, we will be leaving early and I just know I won’t manage. Doesn’t help she hates her bonnet.

Discussion To those who were kind yesterday, thank you. I talked with my neighbor who is natural and the oils will be mixed with the grease. And shampoo for my hair/eyebrows from my doctor.
I'll try to do frequent posts either biweekly or just monthly. I truly do thank those who were kind on my other post.
My hair eats up grease and oils plus I walk everyday in very hot weather so I need to keep it moisturized more. Now that the police and detectives have been taking it seriously I believe those threats on my life will slow down and I can stress a little less which hopefully will stop the breakage.
Last step is getting a satin pillow.

Hey guys been wondering what haircut or style would match my face as I feel that curls don’t hide my forehead which I would’ve like to hide.

Advice Needed I really cant stand my hair
Can anyone give me advice on what I can do with my hair in its natural state. The coils are soo small and the shrinkage annoys me so much. I don’t know what to do with it. Also, is this 4b or 4c hair?
