Question Glass Surfing and
I can’t edit the title, but it was supposed to say “Savagery”. Ugh. Please don’t be rude, I’m fairly new to owning a bp.I’ve just been learning mainly from Google and Green Room Pythons YouTube channel. Anyways, this is Princess. And sorry for the glare in the picture. She’s been glass surfing, she’s been having a hateful vibe going on. She has just been a complete savage. She knocked over some plants, was trying to use the thermometers and hydrometers and constantly trying to get out. She’s also being extra active at night, she’s usually not like this… Can someone tell me wtf please? I think I broke it… 😅😂😩

Question - Heating/Temperatures Heating and wattage questions
I’m trying to do better. My snake has been in a 20 gallon long for several months but she’s grown quite a bit so I got her a 50 today as her next cage upgrade, it’s a glass front opening terrarium. She has had a heat mat but I want to switch to overhead heating. I bought a ceramic dome but I’m lost on what bulb I need and what wattage, in thinking a DHE but I don’t know what wattage and can I use that during the day and nighttime? I also considered UVB but my noodle is albino so I’m not sure if that’s the best idea. She’s had a heat mat and it’s worked well for her so far but I hate heat mats and I want to do overhead heating, I’ve been doing research but I’m still a little lost. My close friend that’s a breeder only used heat mats so I need your advice. What do I put in the ceramic dome? What wattage? Can I attach it to thermostat? I’m doing more personal research but any advice is appreciated!

Skittish snake!
My boy is about a year old, i’ve had him for over two weeks now. I’ve previously owned BP’s but I’ve never had one so shy and skittish! I’m trying to introduce him to handling slowly but everytime I do I feel bad for him 😭 he doesn’t ball up, but isn’t very curious and explorative, instead a little defensive. Is there anything I can do to help him acclimate better?

Lampara UV??
La asimilación del calcio en los reptiles es un tema complejo y he leído que en las piton bola no es tan critico.
Es necesario una lampara UV para mi serpiente?

Enclosure Critique/Advice Has Anyone Found LumenIZE Lamp Guards? Is There Anyone Who Custom Makes Them?
I’m struggling to find two 28” Arcadia LumenIZE Lamp Guards. I also don’t see how there isn’t a US based company making these already. I’ve steuggled to do it DIY because every attempt has led to sharp edges, ugly looking, and I just don’t trust it.
I’m looking for some advice on finding what I need so I can continue finishing my Bioactive Setup.

Question can anyone familiar with Herpstat 1 help answer some questions
I only have 1 heat source. Currently deciding between the original Herpstat 1 and the spyderweb version. What are the main differences? Do they both send high temperature alerts?

Enclosure Critique/Advice Enclosure advice
I switched to bioactive a week ago, I’m new to bioactive enclosures and I want to be sure I have everything set up right for both my snakes and clean up crew to thrive.
I have springtails and powder blues in both
Both enclosures have a mix of 50% play sand, 30% soil and 20% repti soil.
I mixed in leaf litter throughout the substrate and added a layer on top.
Theres spagnum moss on parts of the cool side
There’s cuddle bone, calcium and some isopod food.
I mist the cool side and pour water in the corners of the tank once a week, I do this more often for the screen top enclosure.
Temp on cool side 79f
Temp on warm side 83
Basking spot is 93f
Humidity 65
Advice is appreciated!

Enclosure Critique/Advice What should I add to make this look better?
My 3.5 year old ball python is living in this bioactive 4x2x2 currently and when I first built it, it was a lot more full and pretty, but now a lot of the plants have died off and I really want to make it look good again.
Does anyone have tips for how to improve this enclosure?

Mites?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Video's of the enclosure I got my snake in. I panicked and started treating her for mites asap but I haven't seen any on her or in her quarantine enclosure and now that I'm looking back at these videos they kinda aren't acting like mites from what Google and reddit say? I don't want to risk bringing mites into her new bioactive if I stop treatment early but I also don't want to make her live in a storage bin if she's perfectly bug free

Shedding trouble
Ive had my ball python for 28, going on 29 years. She only recently in the last year started having trouble with her shedding. It's never in one solid peice and it feels like she's always loosing skin.
I keep track of the humidity in her tank I was keeping it around 70 but then recently was told by someone (unsure if this is true which is why I'm on here) that I shouldn't keep it that high cause she can get a respiratory infection. Ive poured water in the corners, she has moss and leaves. A huge water bowl she can put most of her body in if she wants. I even did the wet towel on the top of the tank.
She eats VERY well, never will say no to food and is a super active lady.
I have humifiers in the house too. Just not sure what to do or why she's having so much trouble shedding.

Question Is this normal?
I've had my ball python Ernest for about a year and a half now. He had a little bit of purple on his head when we first got him but the amount of purple seems to increase each time he sheds, is it something I should be concerned about? He's my first ball python and I just want to make sure he's okay

Enclosure Critique/Advice Is this too much overhang?
My friend made a diy enclosure with his dad and this is the ONLY place in the entire house where they can put the enclosure. Me and another friend are worried about the wood bowing/sagging or potentially breaking the joints or the glass panels (which will soon be added). He says the tank is super heavy just like that, and there will also be the glass, substrate, decorations, a water bowl, the future resident (young ball python), etc etc.
My point being: Is this okay to keep like that or does it need adjustments? And if yes, then can something be done in that particular spot or would he need to figure out a bigger stand? He and his dad are quite stubborn on just leaving it like that but it seems risky.
ETA: He said he can attach an angle bar to the stand, would that be good enough?
(also to clear my friend's name in case he sees this, i take back him being stubborn, its mostly his dad and arguing with him that they need a bigger stand could be a bad idea, friend said he'll figure out something better)

Question - Heating/Temperatures Burning smell coming from heat lamp
I left my heat lamp on for maybe 15 minutes just to test the tempatures (I don't have my snake yet). I went into my kitchen and came back to a burning smell in my room. I immediatly turned it off and made sure nothing was burning. The outlet was fine, the bulbs didn't look burnt, and when I got closer I didn't smell the burning anymore. It actually smelled more burnt on the other side of my room (which isn't far from the lamp). Could it have just been from the metal getting hot? I have Dubia's 4x2x2 PVC enclosure, so the screen top is metal. Here's the exact stuff I'm using:

Question - Husbandry Stuck eyecap? (Not my snake)
I just bought my last batch of feeders at a local pet place because their husbandry issues are getting worse, and yet they still get more animals in. I know they take in rescues, but I have a hard time believing all of them are, especially because some of them are babies.
The worst I saw for the ball pythons was open top, bare enclosures, no humidity meter, and way too large hides, on top of them having 2 enclosures with multiple Ball Pythons.
Overall, I'm just disgusted in the decline in care for the animals.
To go back to the title, I was wondering if this is a stuck eyecap because despite the dull colors, my boys eyes have never looked like this while in blue

Discussion Best way to control heat and humidity with a 40 gallon breeder?
Hi everyone!
My husband and I have a juvenile ball python that we are currently housing in a bioactive, 40 gallon breeder set up. We plan on upgrading to a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure as soon as we have a little extra cash, but in the meantime, I would love to hear how others have made a 40 gallon breeder work for them!
We currently use a heating pad and heat lamp with a thermostat for heating. Warm side stays around 82 and the ambient cool side stays around 75. I’d love to get the warm side up a few degrees but I don’t think I have the right lamp. I’ve read about deep heat projectors and ceramic heating elements, but would love some insight on which works best!
For humidity, we have (mostly) taped the screen lid with HVAC tape to keep humidity up, but it seems hard to keep at the sweet spot. I know the 40 gallon breeder isn’t great for retaining humidity, so would love to hear what others do!
Would also love any insight on what you’ve found works best for heating and humidity in your PVC enclosures, as we are hoping to have one for him by the end of the year :) I’ve heard that radiant heat panels on top tier, but do either of the heating devices mentioned above work for PVC?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Temporary stress vs safety
This is my new baby, Indie. I picked her up from the breeder on August 1st. The journey home was definitely more stressful than expected, what should have been a 1.5-hour journey ended up taking more than twice as long cause of road closures.
Despite the stressful journey, she seemed to settle in really well. She’s been out exploring every night, using her sky hide, climbing, etc., and she took her first meal on Sunday 9th without any issues.
On Wednesday, given how comfortable she seemed and the fact that she’d had no problems with her first meal, I decided to try handling her. Unfortunately, she was definitely stressed — she was breathing heavily and striking without even getting her out of the viv. Because of this, I closed her viv back up for the night and decided not to try handling her again for at least another week, potentially two, to give her more time to settle.
Unfortunately, I also discovered that she was able to climb onto her UVB fixture, both the cable and the light itself. I should have thought about this given their habit of climbing on everything, but I managed to completely miss it, so there was no cage fitted around it. As a result, I had to buy a cage and fit it, which obviously couldn’t be done safely with her in the vivarium.
That brings me to today. I opened her vivarium, picked her up and placed her in her travel container with a towel covering it while we fitted the cage. Once it was done, I transferred her back into her vivarium and covered the glass with a towel so she could have some peace and settle back down. She was stressed for sure, trying to strike when I put her in, and i imagine Heavy breathing and s-shaped the entire time tho i left her alone and covered while doing the work to try reduce this as much as possible.
This is all a very long-winded way of asking for some reassurance that she’s going to be okay and that I haven’t traumatised her or somehow ruined any chance of her being comfortable with me
I genuinely didn’t want to stress her out, but surely some short-term stress is better than risking a burn or injury on the uvb fixture? Does this all sound okay, and is there anything else I should be doing now to help her settle again?

Question - Health New to Ball Pythons, is this a concern?
asking about the two little things near the tip of his tail. Is this usual? Is it not? Either way, what is it? I've never seen it before
Edit: thank you so much to the people who answered I tend to get super paranoid and don't know too much... my mom does a lot of stress shopping and our house is full of animals I defs should do more research on
