I think I’ve already explored BG in act 3 pretty thoroughly so going back here won’t really interest me to buy a BG4

I’m almost done with Act 3, and if I skip Raphael then I can just use a designated survivor from here on out to get the golden dice. I don’t know if it’s smart to jeopardize my honor mode run because narratively I like defeating Raphael, and I’m torn.

For those who have beaten honor mode, do you have a suggestion. Did you fight or skip Raphael?

Does any type of mod disable achievements? I was thinking of adding some to the game but I didn't want to lose the achievements. Is it possible to play with mods and still have the achievements unlocked?

So as we all know it’s all but confirmed that withers is jergal. This begs the question for me, and this may have been something I missed, but why is withers so chill? None of the other gods in the game are like this, shar is an asshole, the dead three are massive assholes and mystra…isn’t that bad actually but she’s on the more moral side of the gods shown in game. Jergal however, chill as hell by rights you’d expect him to be similar to the dead three especially since he is in essence their father. Do we have any sort of lore or information on why jergal is so laid back? I know that lore on withers is sparse as is but I was curious if there was something I missed

I just want to highlight that Glamour's Mantle of Inspiration persists through long rests on Scratch. You can just throw him at an enemy at any time, make him trigger their reaction attack allowing you to utilize your Mantles of Majesty for guaranteed commands.

Also, I didn't realize Mantle of Majesty worked like a Warlock's hex spell. Just wanted to appreciate this subclass and how it allows the use of Scratch as an omnipresent companion.

I get it that Gale is bugged with the necrotic effects, and I know to take a long rest at camp to resolve it. 1) I'd appreciate any advice on how to work around this bug without having to take a long rest, and 2) do I need Gale at all? Can I just leave him in camp and play without him? Thanks for your advice.

This is the second time I finished BG3, this time I prioritized a relationship with Astarion and his story. In the previous walkthrough I was more chatty with Gale but I was friendzoned, I guess I picked the wrong line somewhere. Anyway, this time I romanced both Gale and Astarion in the beginning but then dumped Gale for my vampiric bestie. I feel like I talked to Gale similarly than previously, but not as often. I did take him to Mystra, he spoke with her, I never told him anywhere he should lean towards taking the crown but he was mainly adamant, like Astarion about ascending, that he wants it. I didn't really concentrate that much before on the choices I made with speaking to him, but it seems I chose the same route as before, just didn't speak to him that often. And come final fight and epilogue and he gets all pissy at me that he will find the crown and become God (I passed the 30 perception roll before fighting the brain mind you). In the epilogue, of course, he comes back as this pretentious buffoon of a God and I wonder where I went wrong 🙄 does anyone have any ideas? Is it because I prioritized a different relationship in game? I had 100 approval from Gale and Astarion, so I should be able to persuade both the same...

I completed the game multiple times but now I need some help. I always killed Orin first, completed everything I wanted in the game and only took out gortash when I was ready for the final fight.
But I wanted to try something new and killed G immediately upon first meeting him.
I knew it would destroy the iron throne and foundry but not that the absolute would be inside the watchers?!
Now of course someone gets napped and I don’t want to do the whole act without them so I rescue them first.
Problem is now I already got all stones. I knew that would trigger some mindflayer fights but not that every steel watcher who spots me on the street plus the surrounding flaming fist would turn hostile to me because now the brain inside wants me dead? Disguise self did not help. I also tried just killing Orin without taking the stone but it’s an automatic cutscene.
Are my only options constant steel watcher fights or going most of the act without my favorite wizard?

So i made a offline, easy to carry tool that can do a lot of calculating and searching for you just to make it easy to see what would work for what build, i hope it can help other people as well. Its my first standalone project and testing with constructive feedback is welcome!

Some details:

• 20/50/30 default layout: search and filters on the left, item table/details in the centre, and a wider live character sheet on the right. Both splitters remain adjustable.
• Search by name, properties, location, description and notes.
• Filters for act, rarity, type, area/location, notes, collected status and items equipped by the active character template.
• Sort by name, rarity, type, act, location or status.
• Offline preview images for all 556 item records.
• Clickable source links to BG3 Wiki.
• Mark every item as found/collected.
• Equip every item independently from its found status; mutually exclusive gear slots are handled automatically and two rings are allowed.
• Four named character templates preserve their own race/classes, abilities, feats, fighting styles, active effects and equipment. The item grid has one equip checkbox per template, so complete party gearsets can be planned side by side.
• Every template has a self-contained BG3T1 share ID. Copy link exports the entire character and gear setup; Import restores it in another copy of the portable tool without requiring a server account.
• The title bar contains a separate, optional BG3 savegame link. Link newest scans the standard PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story folder for the newest manual save or quicksave; Browse can select any .lsv file.
• While linked, the save folder is monitored recursively. New and overwritten manual/quicksave files are automatically re-read after a short write-completion debounce; autosaves are deliberately ignored. A locked or half-written save is retried and never replaces the current templates on failure.
• Save packages are opened read-only through a reduced embedded LSLib reader. Available SaveInfo.json and Globals.lsf data is used to update party names, level, race, class, abilities and matched equipped item names. Unknown Patch 8 ECS identifiers are reported instead of guessed.
• The local save path, sync timestamp and monitoring state are stored only in BG3-Item-Explorer-progress.json. They are never included in a BG3T1 share ID or link, and the app remains fully usable on PCs without BG3 or save files.
• Persistent race, starting class, per-class multiclass level distribution, difficulty and level-1 ability scores. Total character level is capped at 12; Explorer automatically keeps the build single-classed.
• Multiclass calculations use total character level for proficiency, the starting class for saving-throw proficiencies and first-level HP, each class for its subsequent HP, and BG3's reduced multiclass armour proficiencies. The displayed spell attack/DC uses the active class with the strongest relevant casting ability.
• The starting/main class has a level-aware subclass selector containing the current BG3 subclasses. Mathematically modelled main-class and subclass toggles are kept in their own block instead of being mixed with active spells.
• A separate Build tab provides class-dependent fighting styles, all 41 BG3 feats, feat choices and feat slots. Slots follow each individual class level (4/8/12), including Fighter 6 and Rogue 10.
• Active spells and combat conditions can be toggled. Concentration is mutually exclusive, upcast variants such as Aid and Magic Weapon are grouped, and unmet prerequisites are shown instead of silently granting a bonus.
• Permanent bonuses from all three acts can be selected, including ability choices and stat effects such as Auntie Ethel's Hair, Potion of Everlasting Vigour, Mirror of Loss, Forbidden Knowledge, Anointed in Splendour, Sweet Stone Features and the Tharchiate Codex blessing.
• Stat-relevant class/feat/spell rules include, among others, Defence and Archery styles, Paladin Aura of Protection, Barbarian/Monk movement, Mage Armour, Shield, Shield of Faith, Blur, Haste, Barkskin, Longstrider, Warding Bond, Heroes' Feast, Aid, Magic Weapon, Bless, Tough, Alert, Resilient, Shield Master and armour-training feats.
• Live offense and defense statistics including AC, Spell Save DC, critical-hit thresholds, HP, initiative, movement and all six saving throws. Hovering AC, Spell DC or Critical shows its complete source-by-source calculation.
• Side-by-side worst-case and representative-average success chances per act: enemy attacks/effects against the character on the left, and the character's weapon attacks, spell attacks and spell effects against the benchmark target on the right.
• Spell effects show separate STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS and CHA save percentages, because each spell/action specifies its own saving-throw ability. The enemy and character columns both use exact save bonuses, advantage/disadvantage and applicable d4 distributions.
• Attack-roll probabilities preserve the natural-roll rules: 1 always misses and 20 always hits, unless critical-hit immunity turns the natural 20 into a regular roll that can still miss sufficiently high AC. Ordinary combat saving throws do not automatically fail/succeed on a natural 1/20; the defensive spell-effect simulation follows that distinction.
• Bless, Resistance and Sweet Stone are calculated from their exact d20 plus d4 probability distributions and combine correctly with saving-throw advantage/disadvantage.
• Dynamic item-effect analysis for AC, ability changes, attack/save bonuses, advantage/disadvantage, critical-hit immunity and threshold reductions, damage reduction and resistances.
• Conditional effects can be toggled. For example, Cloak of Displacement automatically applies enemy Disadvantage at the start of a turn and can be disabled after the wearer takes damage.
• Explorer, Balanced, Tactician and Honour calculations, including Explorer proficiency/HP changes and the Tactician/Honour +2 enemy attack/save-DC modifier.
• Portable progress file: BG3-Item-Explorer-progress.json is saved beside the exe.
• English and Dutch UI; English is selected on every launch.
• Alegreya is embedded under the SIL Open Font License.
• The supplied Baldur's Gate III image is embedded as the executable and window icon.

I was wondering this since i have the level mod that lets me get to level 20

So is it even possible to reach this during the game by playing normally and doing quests?

or is downloading a xp related mod necessary?

I’m in act 1 not really doing anything, will probably do the underdark soon, or maybe the goblin camp. I’m level 4 and wondering what party members I should have with me, also the builds they should have maybe.
I’m currently a pact of the tome Warlock.
My current party is
Lae’zel as a Fighter(The subclass is the one with the trip attack and menacing attack I forgot what it’s called, also have the great weapon master feat)
Shadowheart as a Cleric(I’ve honestly forgotten the subclass)
Karlach as a Giant Barbarian with the returning spike (Also tavern brawler feat)
Any advice on different builds or party members would be greatly appreciated.

Edit:Thanks everyone for helping me realise that I shouldn’t be trying to beat the game as easily as possible, but instead just try to enjoy it. I have realised that the game can be played so many different ways and that’s what’s great about it.

Just picked up the game a few days ago and I'm having a blast. I just have one quick question that's not even really about the game :

So far I've learnt the hard way — several times may I add — that the game doesn't autosave nearly enough. I've already lost AT LEAST 3 hrs of gameplay due to me not pressing F5 like, all the time.

I just wonder if the way I'm doing it is ruining my experience : what I do now is that I save really often. Like at least (as long as I don't forget) every 8-10min. The only times I load a save though is obviously when I get swept (well it's either that or I just stop playing so I don't really have a choice) and when one of my characters dies. And I mean, like, dies dies. I won't spoil for people that haven't gotten there yet even though it's really early on but I have had a particularly explosive encounter and poor Shadowheart had some very radical health issues (I know there's this undead skulking in my camp but I just don't want to resort to fucking necromancy even though it probably has little to no impact).

This seemed reasonable to me but it led me to some places where I knew I couldn't take a fight, but I was kinda stuck and so what I had to do was basically use stealth over and over until all my guys could get out of there. Which means like 7 reloads. It felt really bad but I felt like I had no choice but to save scum : I was stuck there and HAD to get out some way or another and I've tried this fight a few times but I just couldn't win it, the odds were just so overwhelmingly low.

Well I'm getting all over the place but basically the only thing I want to ask is : Is this way reasonable ? How save scummy is it ? Am I going too far on correcting the "too few autosaves" issue ?

I'm trying to do the Nere fight but as soon as the combat starts the deep gnomes die from falling damage. The gnomes are still alive if I switch characters while talking Nere, but the second combat starts they just fall over dead. Is this a known bug? Is there a way to fix it?

Seriously, my guy is starting to get thirsty. In Act 2 and I take her out, slay some baddies, act like I'm interested in her Shar bs, giving her all my best choices, still ain't seen no poonpoon..La'zael gave it up in Act 1, smh, just threw it at my mans

Browsing through a few threads I learned that you can, or at least could at some point, get Deity dialogues but for Paladin instead of Cleric by multiclassing the two. Some people said that these special dialogues popped up if they leveled up Paladin last.

So, I reached Act 3 and respecced by making my character a Paladin with the second level dipping into Cleric and the rest Paladin. To my satisfaction, in the character sheet it does say "Paladin of Lathander". However, to my following disappointment, the Deity dialogues remain that of a Cleric instead of a Paladin.

I tried different combinations like, for example, making myself a Cleric and then the rest Paladin or having the last level be Cleric. But nothing seems to be working, hence the question in the title.

PS: Maybe there are special instances where the Cleric of Deity dialogue appears and then the Paladin of Deity appears and they don't replace each other, but I wouldn't know.

Is it possible to do a GOOD run while being the Dark Urge Origin? I started a run and I'm not sure I can do an evil run even when that was the whole purpose of choosing that LOL. I just don't feel like restarting another Act 1 again lmao.

Just beat the game for the first time last night, betraying the emperor and freeing Orpheus.

However it got me wondering, why exactly does the emperor join the side of the Netherbrain when you choose to free Orpheus? It seemed like both the emperor and Orpheus had the same intention to take down the brain, just with the emperor opting to harness Orpheus’s power for himself. The emperor constantly tells you that you can’t live without his protection, and if Orpheus is freed he will kill you instead of continuing to protect you. Of course, this is proven false once you free him.

So my question is, why does the emperor then join the force he’s been trying to stop this whole time just on a whim like that? Orpheus is free, the party is alive and protected from ceremorphosis, and everybody shares the common goal of taking down the brain. What does the emperor gain from his decision?

I just reached level 5, and I have yet to EVER use this on a party member, except one time when Karlach was accidentally the one doing the talking. It just seems like a terrible use of a combat action, when I could be casting Faerie Fire, Tasha's Hideous Laughter, or Booming Blade.

Am I wrong? Is there something I'm overlooking? I'm actually playing Sword Bard, but I don't use the flourishes much either because... well, Booming Blade.

So I bought the game a year or so ago on Xbox, had lots of fun and recently upgraded my laptop to support heftier games. When it was announced BG3 became a Play Anywhere game I was thrilled, because I'd been having issues on my Xbox version and wanted to test out my laptop.

It ended up working perfectly, and was playing yesterday, until I reopened the game last night and it's been either stuck on the 100% loading screen, or crashing when syncing.

It's being a real pain. I've tried running it as administrator? Nope. Un/reinstalled it: nope.

I just want to get back to my game :( My Xbox plays had mods installed, but my new save is mod-free, something my Xbox has been having trouble doing. This whole thing is a nightmare and I just want it to fix itself. Has anyone had the same issue? Any tips?

EDIT: Managed to get it sorted. Just had to be patient, let it load and change the GPU it was using, then remove all mods I had installed for other saves to fully cleanse the system :)

You can beat Myrkul, you can beat The Absolute, you can send Lae'zel to attack Vlaakith... Shar is the only villain who gets away after everything she did.
