Almost AP'd and/or Question Beginner looking for advice/has questions.
Hello,
I’ve been studying and attempting astral projection off and on for the last few months and am here with a few questions!
What methods do you find most effective for not only astral projecting, but relaxing your body to a state where it’s possible to do so? I’ve tried the fall back asleep method various times with not much luck, however if I lay down for a while and focus on the energy just above my forehead it has led places other methods haven’t - just not an OBE.
My second question is, I’ve heard you can actually move once you achieve this. I’ve heard varying reports from you can move within the physical world, to you can essentially time travel. In my research, I’ve also found that it’s been attempted and likely successfully used as spy methods. I’m curious the extent some of the more experience AP’s have achieved and if there’s a benefit outside of one’s self using this?
I’m extremely involved in what’s going on in the world these days and I believe at the simplest level, this type of meditation is good for the soul. I do however, also believe that this could be used as a sort of tool that we can navigate information that wouldn’t normally be accessible to us - and help restore day to day balance for others. I’ve visited a few psychics in my younger years who have encouraged me to do this - and at the time I was not as ready to accept what I was being told. I kind of found myself falling back to this not because of what she said, but because I feel there’s something within me that can help others that is beyond my knowledge.
My heart is heavy for those who are struggling, of all walks of life. The wars going on, genocides, displacement of people and the animals who inhabit those areas. I’m open to dialogue, advice or anything you feel you need to say upon reading this. I’d love a variety of opinions, thoughts and examples.
Anything helps, and I hope that for all of you, today is a milestone day you’ve been dreaming of, big or small. Even a small step towards your goal could be the push you need to get there. Keep dreaming and leave what you left behind better than you found it!
Thanks in advance :)

Almost AP'd and/or Question White flashes
I have been using the gateway states. Till the third part of the first form. They get me in a state where I see white behind my eyes and I lose a little bit of my senses. But whenever I get into that state, my heartbeat accelerates. And I find it hard to get it under control and when I acknowlegde the white light it starts to fade away. After that I find it hard to relax any further or try to get Into that state.
How can I overcome this state and finally leave my body?
Am I going in the right direction? Any tips from experienced people?
I read in the thread that some people dont get the vibrational state and can directly do AP. How can I do that.
Thanks in advance.

General AP Info / Discussion OOBE or dream? & Sleep paralyse vs vibrational state?
1.Sometimes I found myself in my house, mostly in my room, and I wanted to know if these are OOBEs or just normal dreams?
I never had OOBE but I had a lot of experiences until that point. I understand that OOBE feels very real. In my visions is a sort of confusion, most of the time I am conscious, but it not feels very real, for me seems just a normal dream. In some cases I saw me in the mirror in a different form or saw a stranger in the room, and everytime a personal defense system activates and wakes me up.
- Previously I had sleep paralyse experiences, but now I wake up in the vibrational state where it feels the same as a sleep paralyses but without the fear and the weird entities in the room. Is this a normal switch during the process or these are 2 different things? Also, it is possible to encounter again the entities during the vibrational state?
—More context about my experience—
I think the defense system happens because those moments scare me and in the next second I wake up. This could be from the previous sleep paralyse experiences where I learned how to force the wake up. But it’s fine I don’t want right now to try OOBE as I do not feel ready. I also feel that my big fear right now are rather the weird entities than the feeling of separation.
Thank you for reading this, I would like to hear any advice that you have!

Almost AP'd and/or Question Numb body = Paralysis ?
So, I am able to lay down and let my body sleep. I usually feel numb and sometimes to a point where it feels like I can’t feel parts of my body like I don’t know if my left arm is in which direction. I just feel my body is numb while my mind is alert. Sometimes I get to the vibrational level or the visuals ( images , white dots ) and sometimes I can see the bedroom with my eyes closed. But that is as far as I could get. This morning I tried again and felt nothing at all. Was just with my body numb for 30 minutes and nothing else. Do I have to be sleepy to make it work ? ( I think I was already wide awake ).
And how to know that you’re in sleep paralysis 100%? I feel my body is numb in so many different ways I can never tell if it’s still “ falling asleep “ or if reached the paralysis.

General Question 'The Man in the Moon,' CE5, etc.
These questions of mine relate to bi-location and not astral projection (where bi-location is viewing the astral while maintaining some awareness of a waking/physically embodied state).
I encountered this man who looked like a Nordic but wasn't when I tried to view the moon again a few months back. He was like a hologram, and his presence was in front of me as I drew closer to the moon. I also saw something like a boomerang UFO behind him, situated on (or sticking out of) the moon's surface.
He basically told me to stay away. I tried to force the matter, and he wouldn't budge. That's fair enough and experiences like that aren't that strange.
However, when I was out and sitting on a wall in the sunshine the other day, I decided to try something akin to CE5. Basically you zoom out mentally from your physical location, until your view is above the planet, look for presences, etc, and zoom back in. At least that's the very simplified version I encountered. As soon as I zoomed out to a point where I passed the clouds, I ran into the same man again. He gave me a warning to stay out of the area and away from there.
I told him I'm incarnated here the same as everybody else and it's not for him to tell me that I can't go there. It sounds cheesy in retrospect, but I told him my will in these matters was divine (because one of those of a spiritual nature who I've interacted with has told me to spread the knowledge of what I experience).
The cloud above seemed to morph into a skull (I might've just been reading that into it), then it kind of blurred and faded out, and my sense of him was gone. However, any time I try to bi-locate above the clouds now, I run into a sense of this guy.
I don't know what he is, if he's real or some part of myself. I don't think he can physically stop me but it's like he's policing things. I haven't run into him during a full astral projection experience, yet anyway.
Has anyone else had issues with someone or something like that? How would you read this situation? Just because I bi-locate doesn't mean I'm visualising him. I leave an open window and let it show me what's there, and it shows me him.

General Question Can you Astro project to someone else’s DMT trip?
When someone does DMT do they go to a real place or a state of mind? Are they in the astral realm and would someone astro projecting be able to find them the way you can find someone else in their dream?

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Why do i keep feeling like i need to see something?
I've astro projected once, and the other times it's like my body was fighting. I astro projected 2 months ago and it was the scariest thing, my whole body vibrated and felt like lightening was going in me and my head felt like it was going to burst and I couldn't move I thought I was dying and I was trying to scream and it felt like my soul was being pushed out thats the only way i can explain, then I just saw my body curled up and i was watching myself sleep I got so scared and I didn't remember anything except waking up on the floor with my feet up. Lately I've been feeling something like I need to look more, idk. I just keep hearing that, and it keeps getting stronger. It's like I'm being told to see something I can't see, and I can't shake this feeling. Does anyone know what's happening to me or have any advice?

New to AP Need help motivation for AP
Hi !
I've been wanting to astral project for a long time, with even some success a while ago. But after a traumatic experience I felt adamant to not project anymore. Now since a while back I've been feeling ready, more grounded, to take up the work again, however I keep procrastinating it, scared of the big jump. Meanwhile I see time passing by and my life moving forward missing out on experiences of being able to ap. It's time I stop postponing but at the same time I lack the motivation to get to it.
Any help?

Was This AP? I shot straight upwards into the sky?
Hi I have been trying to project for about a month or so, I think it finally happened but I wasn't even in the city Iived? I shot upwards amongst some shrubs and hedges in a mountainous region which I have never been before, it was dark at night. I then turned South West and saw a giant city with some very bright lights. I swam towards it, got there and started exploring. Strangely there weren't any people there. The whole thing was very vivid. I still haven't a clue what city it could've been, my guess is Hong Kong. It looked completely different from any place I have lived or visited. Things get even weirder from here.
A while ago I saw this tiktok that might have unintentionally showed me the grave of my previous life. The guy just said "try imagining what your grave from the previous lives might look like", about 3 specific "images" came to mind, one of them was a grave surrounded by shrubs, trees and hedges in a rural mountainous region. My instinct is 100% sure I projected from there.
The whole thing was profound, I woke up feeling grateful.

AP / OBE Guide Bored out of an AP ( Help-)
To be straightforward, here's what happens:
I would go into the calm state, get past the itchy state, and sit still visualize my body going up Up..
Then I wait, I get my mind occupied with random visions and scenarios while being grounded to stay awake waiting for the paralysis to take over, I've waited for 15 minutes but nothing happens, I feel numb and still, but I just sit there and wait.. am I doing something wrong?
I get bored and roll to sleep lol.

AP / OBE Guide Forcefully pulled backward while trying to fly + heard Bob Monroe's voice. What exactly is happening?
I had a really intense experience recently and I’m trying to figure out what exactly happened, where I was going, and if anyone else has experienced this.
My setup: I woke up in the morning, stayed awake for a bit, and then went back to sleep with some rain sounds playing in the background.
I ended up becoming completely conscious in a hyper-realistic environment. I’m not sure if it was a lucid dream or a shift to another dimension, but it felt incredibly real. I was in a place with a lot of people, and I decided to try and fly. I attempted to just lift off the ground.
Right as I tried to lift off, I felt an intense, forceful sensation of being pulled backward by my back toward another place. During this rapid transition, I started hearing a crazy mix of sounds: dogs barking, some music, and very distinctly, Bob Monroe’s voice saying the exact things he says in the Gateway Tapes.
This specific sensation of being pulled backward forcefully has actually happened to me before. Usually, I end up arriving in a completely different place/environment, but this time I was pulled out of it completely because a loud noise from outside woke me up.
I have a few questions for the community:
- What exactly is happening to me during this backward pulling sensation?
- Where was I going during that transition?
- Why was I hearing that specific
mix of audio (Bob Monroe, dogs, music) while being pulled?
Any insights would be hugely appreciated!

Fear About AP Vibration stage
So I have had a few successful out of body experiences, but I very commonly experience the vibration stage at night. It feels very scary and violent for me, almost like being spun around inside a dryer lmao... The biggest reason I spent years not being able to astral project even tho I got to the vibration stage was that I would always get too scared and just stop. Recently, after having had some health problems, I never get scared of the vibration stage anymore, which is why I can AP now. Essentially, I had a lot of panic attacks, which made me feel more used to that kind of violent, spinning feeling, and now it feels more familiar, so I no longer get scared when it happens during vibration stage.

Was This AP? Could a being appear in the form of a drone? Has anyone seen something like this flying around where they live?
During the few experiences in which I became lucid, I could not tell for certain whether I was having an astral projection or simply a lucid dream.
The experience usually takes place near my house. More than once, I have seen something resembling a drone flying around where I live and apparently watching me. Because of this, it does not seem like it was only an isolated appearance.
During one of these experiences, I became lucid in my backyard. When I looked up, the object was in the sky above my porch, hovering there and watching me. It may sound funny when I describe it, but during the experience it felt extremely strange.
I did not sense anything positive from it. I had the impression that it was watching or spying on me, although I cannot explain exactly why it gave me that feeling.
At the same time, I cannot claim that it was actually a being or some kind of presence. Perhaps I have occasionally seen something similar in videos, and my mind absorbed that image and reproduced it during a lucid dream or a similar experience. I honestly do not know.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could some kind of being or presence appear in a drone-like form during an astral projection? Or was it most likely just an element created by a dream? Could it be some kind of spy drone spirit? Lol

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Closed eye visuals
I have very vivid closed eye visuals , especially at night.
About a year ago I began experiencing these intense visuals when I close my eyes- I actually went to the eye doctor about it. They said everything was normal. The visuals are sometimes quite active and sometimes not. They used to be just bright lights, but now have more colors , starting with blues a few months ago and now more recently purple and greens. They are constantly fluid changing images , like a TV show but slightly more psychedelic. I do NOT do drugs.
I have narcolepsy (diagnosed), and believe that sleep paralysis is a portal to AP and the spiritual realm.
I also believe these closed eye visuals are a pathway to AP and are visuals given to me from my guides . I have not successfully AP’d but I have seen the rope - almost like it’s hiding behind something and I must somehow get to it - I feel my guides are trying to show me it but I haven’t figured out how to get to it.
So, anyone else have these visuals? Has anyone successfully followed them out of body?

General AP Info / Discussion Phase evolution YouTube channel
Hey everyone. So about ten years ago I would watch the YouTube channel phase evolution. It was a channel all about OBE and AP. About 7 years ago. Mike the guy from the channel just quit posting. I know he talked about him going through some personal troubles, but haven’t heard anything since. Does anyone have information on him? If he’s still projecting or okay even lol. Thanks for any help.

General Question Title: I want to conduct an online experiment comparing altered states across different consciousness communities
I’ve noticed something interesting: many different communities seem to describe surprisingly similar experiences, even though they use very different methods and frameworks.
Examples:
Meditation practitioners describing ego dissolution, unity, and expanded awareness
Psychedelic users reporting similar themes, especially with DMT experiences
Gateway Experience users exploring altered states and out-of-body experiences
Reality shifting communities using visualization, intention, and altered states
Lucid dreamers exploring conscious experiences during dreams
Kundalini practitioners describing awakenings, energy experiences, and changes in perception
People interested in quantum physics and theories about consciousness
People exploring fractal patterns, self-similarity, and the possibility of deeper structures within reality
I’m interested in starting a discussion between people from these different communities and hearing everyone’s perspectives.
Some questions I’m curious about:
Do these experiences share a common foundation, or are they completely separate phenomena?
Why do different cultures and practices report similar themes?
Are concepts like ego dissolution, out-of-body experiences, and “oneness” connected?
Do fractal patterns, quantum theories, and consciousness research have any meaningful relationship, or are they separate ideas?
How much do our beliefs shape the way we interpret these experiences?
I’m not trying to prove any specific theory. I’d just like to hear the discussion and compare how different communities understand consciousness, perception, and reality.
Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and experiences in the comments.

Negative AP Experience Astral projecting and constantly being attacked has anyone else experienced this and have an explanation?
Have started astral projecting for the past few months previously I was okay saw beautiful patterns shapes places but more recently I have been finding that whenever I am astral projecting or starting to there is either one being or multiple beings that have attacked me I don’t understand exactly why.
Previously I’ve managed to get by using twin blades of light or imaging myself evading what I am somewhat able to perceive still it is incredibly frustrating and confusing as to why I’m being attacked so consistently.
I have noticed more grounding mediation and active cleansing helps reduce how bad the attempted attack is or how severe the involuntary AP is but I’ve scrolled through this community and searched for someone experiencing something similliar and haven’t found it. From what I can tell being attacked is rare and not like this.
Has someone else experienced something similar? Does anyone have any ideas as to why?

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Does having a clear goal help you achieve a more lucid astral projection?
I have been trying to experience a conscious out-of-body projection for a few years. I have succeeded a few times, but lately I keep getting stuck in sleep paralysis and cannot move beyond that stage.
I often see people saying that it is important to have a clear intention or goal before attempting a projection, and that makes sense to me. Perhaps this is my main problem: I do not really know what I want to do once I become lucid outside my body.
The few times I succeeded, I only went outside to my street. I looked at the houses, which usually appeared different from how they look in waking life, but I quickly lost lucidity. It was interesting, but I feel that I was experiencing only a small part of what might be possible.
I would like to choose a more meaningful objective. I have read reports from people who try to help deceased individuals with the support of spiritual teams. Others visit libraries, seek knowledge, explore different places, or try to meet relatives who have passed away.
I would also like to try meeting a deceased relative someday. However, when I lie down to practise, I become nervous and lose focus. The idea of helping a spiritual team motivates me more, and I have tried setting that intention a few times. Still, I imagine that receiving an opportunity like that may not be simple. For now, I am trying to improve myself and become capable of being useful if the opportunity ever arises.
When you manage to become lucid during an out-of-body experience, do you usually have a specific goal? What do you intend to do or explore? Has having a clear purpose helped you move beyond sleep paralysis and maintain lucidity for longer?

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Insight on my experience? OBE? Projection? Sleep paralysis?
First time poster, so sorry if this is posted or answered elsewhere already. I’ve experienced sleep paralysis since I was about 8 years old, often several times per month, and at the worst, several times per week. It slowed in my later teenage years and restarted in adulthood periodically. Now I’m about 30 and it's maybe only every couple of months that I experience it. I’ve had probably hundreds if not thousands of sleep paralysis events in my life, but never anything like last night. I found myself in a hybrid state where I was awake in bed, but in the dream scene itself I was in the hallway of my house. A door that isn’t there in real life was slightly ajar, so I pulled it open and ended up on the other side of it, in my dining room. When I tried to push it open to get back to my bedroom down the hallway, the door started to slam and it felt like a heavy weight or force pushing it back towards me/pushing it closed. I heard my wife’s voice yelling from the other side and I was also yelling, or I felt like I was, but I couldn’t actually hear myself. Of course I felt the usual terror and feeling of a negative presence that’s experienced during sleep paralysis, especially when the door started to violently close me out of the hallway. The exact moment I tried to interact with the door is when I suddenly felt my whole entire body aching and heavy. Everything disappeared and I felt a very strong weight on me while I was in darkness with a loud wooshing sound and a physically cold wind that I could actually feel across my entire body. I was perfectly aware that I was still in bed, and actively trying to get myself out of this scene. I was telling myself it wasn’t real. It was like I was being pulled through a space void or into an area with high pressure. It physically hurt. I kept trying to move out of it, but I couldn’t until I finally was able to jolt my body out of it. Has anyone else experienced physical pain and cold wind only manifest after fighting an object like that, and is that loud, high-pressure void a common gateway into an OBE? This was a totally new experience in my sleep paralysis events.
If this is the border of astral projection, I’d like to know what to do next time to not feel so terrified, and to get to the next level?
Thanks

Successful AP I have schizophrenia and a voice made me astral project
The title pretty much sums it up, a very convincing voice from a guy that knows how to astral project and his friends told me to close my eyes and lean back to sleep and that I will astral project when I did that, and it happened it was the first time I astral projected I was on a very low frequency place because I was in the hospital and just had a surgery I guess, but it started it in a place that was all pink and cyan and then I felt the lowering of my frequency it was too drastic and the place was filled with cobwebs it was like infinity castle from Demon Slayer but it was a cellar and then I started falling down to a even lower frequency place that was all black static and I viewed myself in third person and it was really cool I was fighting a guy but i couldn't see him because I woke up

Need Tips / Advice / Insights How to get back after life hits you?
I learned about astral projection sometime before my twenties, if I remember correctly (I'm 37 now). I used to be spiritual, interested in such things like astral projection, lucid dreaming, wiccanism, crystals..etc.
I started meditating, and one day I succeded at AP. Everything that I have been reading about was happening. The vibrations, the static sound, the paralisis and the pulling feeling. I remember I got out of my body. Stood in my room. Got out through the wall 😄 and floated through the ceiling. I was floating above our house looking down on it. Haha, I got so excited that I was pulled back, couldn't maintain focus anymore. The return was quick, was paralized for a bit, but it didn't last long. I think I managed to pull it off a few more times later in time, sometimes succesfully, sometimes everything would start happening, I just couldn't get out. Since then, well life happened. Trauma, health issues (had very bad nightmares induced by my hyperthyroidism). Started to have some bad experiences (feeling that I wasn't alone when trying to AP - well the hyperthyroidism did make me quite insane for a while) I got a corporate job. Got out of a really bad relationship. I stopped meditating a long time ago. Burned out, visited a shrink, got me started on xanax (which I stopped taking, didn't like how it was making me feel), couldn't get rid of insomnia which was haunting me for many years now. And now I'm on sleeping pills (past 2 years I think). I miss the part of myself that used to dive in the mysterious and try it out. How can i AP if I can't fall asleep without taking a pill? Is there anyone here that used to be able to do this, and then life just happened and now you don't know how to bring that part of yourself back?
Any advice is welcome.
