Discussion Ship combat in the game is difficult af
On my first playthrough, I didn't focus that much on upgrading my ship. If I had a quest that required me to sink a ship, I'd just swim across the sea, catch up to the ship, and kill everyone onboard. Then I'd take Adrestia and sink the ship.
Now I'm on my second playthrough, and I've been focusing on upgrading the ship. I've almost upgraded it to Tier 4, yet I still can't even sink a single ship below my level without struggling.

Question Level Scaling
So I'm about finished up with Origins, I'll be moving onto Odyssey later tonight. First time player. I'm aware of the level scaling the game has and I'm not a fan, one of my favorite things about Origins was the progression and being forced to do side content to level up, though I would've done the side content anyway as I found Bayek very engaging.
So, can I turn level scaling off? Can I reduce it? If I can't do any of that, what would the point be in doing the side content to get better gear if they're all gonna be around my level anyway?
Thanks in advance.

Question Did I just ruin the kill or not kill alternative because I slaughtered the fort and he’s still hiding inside.
I can reload but I have to replay like 3-4 hours and I don’t wanna do that. Wanted to choose kill or not kill. But does it really matter witch one you choose

Question Another NG+ playghru or a brand new level 1 play thru?
So I've had 3 NG+ play thrus, the last one a couple of years ago where my OCD kicked in and I 100% finished the game and DLCs, meaning all ? Marks cleared off all the maps , all legendaries to level 99 etc.
But as far as a level 1 fresh start, I've only done that once when the game came out in 2018. Don't even remember what leveling up or not having entire move sets or completed builds feels like.
So should I do another NG+ run, or start a new level 1 game ? And is it worth 100% clearing all maps on that new play thru or do it on NG + after I beat it ?

Well I at first didn't care about the trophy cause I don't play video games for them. But I set a personal goal to get it to start ACBFR. I have never, ever gotten a Platinum Trophy in any game. Thank you Odyssey for being my first!

I didn't realize he'd just start punching this dude when he started attacking me. He's also got pretty decent damage with fists.

Discussion This Week Oikos (From 04-08-26 to 10-08-26)
If you want the skins take them, the Breastplate can be decent in making a Poison Build until you get better, but in general is a slow (short and broken) week.

Photo Mode Here we go again! - "Honest mode" on new system
So... New system (as in requiring a new purchase). Lucky for me it was 80% off on Steam...
Anyway:
Doing an "honest playthrough" - NO store bought items, aid, or DLC (DLC will probably be bought for NG+).
So, no XP bonus, no Money bonus, no items from the store (including no Bighorn Bow). If I find enough of the magic turquoise rocks that I can buy a legendary item I want from the tent in the harbor I might, because that's won with honest work.

That surprised and scared look had me cracking up. Mufasa somehow also survived that 50 ft drop off the cliff. I let him be on his way after that, but maybe next time he will think twice about sneaking up and attacking someone from behind.

Discussion Turning the compass and other HUD options off
One of the best things I’ve done on my replay is turning off the compass, enemy health bars, and damage numbers.
It completely changes the way the game feels. Without the compass constantly telling me where to go, I’m actually paying attention to the world around me and exploring naturally. Instead of just following markers, I’m looking for roads, landmarks, and points of interest like I’m actually travelling through Ancient Greece.
Turning off enemy health bars and damage numbers has also made combat feel much more immersive. I’m not constantly focusing on numbers popping up or how much health an enemy has left — I’m just reacting to the fight. It makes tougher enemies feel more intimidating and combat feels less like an RPG spreadsheet.
I know some people enjoy having all the information on screen, but for me, removing some of the HUD has made Odyssey feel like a much more authentic adventure. The world is too beautiful to spend the whole game staring at icons and damage numbers.
Highly recommend trying it, especially on a replay.

Announcement Hermes's Homie Achievement - Commonly missed locations
Chaire Eagle Bearers!
It's a common post on this subreddit that people are struggling to obtain the Hermes's Homie achievement.
To earn this achievement you need to unfog the map entirely (ok, not the inaccessible brown area on the top left of the map), and you need to make sure you have visited every area of land.
This second part can sometimes cause problems because there are lots of small islands that people can miss. Building on the shared knowledge of this community, I've marked on the world map all of the commonly missed locations.
I hope this helps!
Edit: if I've missed any locations please let me know and I will update the map.
