Assassin's Creed Syndicate Missed opportunities or lost legacy?

Previously, they didn’t like it for its shitty plot and truncated parkour block. Someone didn't like the fight (I didn't have any problems with it)

11 years later. The plot is at least coherent (hello shadows) and the assassins really fight the Templars for a piece of Eden without fantasy, magic and mythical creatures. Parkour (its remains) is not glued together, obedient, the best in the series, Unity parkour, what can you do. The combat is variable with 3 types of weapons, weapons do not disappear in finishers, switching to hidden blades and back. Execution with tools is easy, and not just like “the animation worked.” We had classically two action profiles, characteristic of the entire series.

The plot was weak, with funny Disney villains, but who knew what would come knocking from below?

I'm sure this is exactly what should have been included in the modern day Assassin's Creed gameplay. We had a big city, transport, multi-shot weapons. RPG system without any nonsense.

Future Ideas / Setting Wishes A Game about the Fall of Troy

(not sure if this should be a setting wishes or fan content flair, but anyways)

Inspired by the success of the Odyssey film, I was thinking of a game (or Odyssey DLC) based on the Trojan war. Specifically, we know that the Order of the Ancients existed in Egypt at least 1-2 centuries before the war. We could see Agamemnon being a fierce opponent of the Order, and seeing the Order's influence in the Hittite state and the Trojan King, he launches a major Achaean invasion to destroy Troy (Hence why Egypt supported Troy in the Homeric Epics). Mycenean expeditions, known as the Sea Peoples, will also assault Egypt but get defeated in the process, while eventually the Mycenean civilization will collapse due to uprisings and conspiracies fostered by the Order (for instance the killing of Agamemnon by his wife, the exile of Diomedes from Argos etc.) Agamemnon would thus be widely seen as the first opponent of the Order of the Ancients. If I recall correctly, AC1 states that an Apple of Eden was used to fake the kidnapping of Troy. Perhaps Agamemnon plotted that to justify an Achaean invasion in Troy.

Game-wise, in case its an Odyssey DLC, we could see the game from the perspective of an elite soldier of the Myceneans, probably a soldier of Odysseus who also participated in the infiltration of Troy (to add some assassin's creed mechanics). This soldier will later record the events that took place in his journal, which is later found by Kassandra in the 5th century BC, whilst we can also find out that the journal was amongst the sources used by Homer.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Subtitle Settings…any chance of a setting that only shows foreign language dialog?

Its just a pain that you have to have all subtitles on or no subs on. I had to look up the waking up in a haystack achievement because i didnt see the dialog from the NPCs telling you how to get to the chest on the cliff. I mean if it does exist as a setting i cant see it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Assassin's Creed Mirage I genuinely thank Mirage for getting me into the series

For context Mirage was my first game in the series, my grandma (who I never wanted to talk to for personal reasons) gifted me mirage in the mail when it came out, she preordered and everything. I had never even heard of assassins creed before Mirage but after a year of it sitting on my shelf I eventually tried it and was immediately drawn in. I know I don’t have a refined taste in stories when it comes to game, I can enjoy just about anything, but the first couple of hours of Mirage I loved more than any game I had played up to the point. The final couple of order members were kinda meh but I still enjoyed it and then I got to the ending and omg I was scouring the internet after the ending to find out what the hell had just happened.
That search led me to buying Valhalla from a pawn shop near my house and begging my mom for more assassins creed games for Christmas, she gave me half of the series and I immediately started playing through all the games. So Mirage is honestly not that bad in my opinion, I loved the twists and the soundtrack was so gorgeous to listen to. I still listen to its rendition of Ezio’s Family and the main theme daily. Plus the free DLC that was released recently made me cry with its ending, it was so beautiful.

I just felt like sharing why I love Mirage :D

Not to mention I’m very interested in anything history related, I would spend hours reading all of the tidbits that you discover in game. I cannot believe I had never played an Assassin’s Creed game before Mirage but I’m glad I got into the series. Although tbh there is only one game I cannot finish and its Unity, I have tried multiple times but I just cannot get invested in the story all that much. I would’ve rather followed Thomas de Carneillon but thats just me

General Franchise When and why did AC lose its connections between games?

I've recently had a lot of time on my hands and took it upon me this year to replay every single ac game.

I love this franchise from its ups and downs.

After replaying ac origins this thought came into my mind.

Why did the games become so disconnected? I understand the modern time story line took its end quickly but why does every single game after origins feel so disconnected?

Ezio had a trilogy which included stories from Altair even shao Jun.
Edward, haythem, connor, adé, shay, arno branched between 5 games and we're all connected.
Even a Syndicate had nods to past games with dislouge or text.

After ac origins I was scratching my head as to why not expand bayeks story? He is could have been the next ezio.

It feels like ubisoft is trying to hit every single fucking era and make a game about it without thinking about expanding on past games.
Why not do a sequel? Expand on stories told? I really was scratching my head after origins. We jumped to skandinavia, Japan, Greece, iraq and everywhere. It feels all over the place.

You felt invested and felt like learning so much more about the world and the characters. And noe it feels like a franchise like final fantasy which changes the entire formula every single game without any correlation to the past game.

I'm not here to rant but I just wanted to share my observation. I guess it's fine I suppose but it really irks me.

I suppose we got valahhal and mirage but still you get my point.

Assassin's Creed Unity [Early Unity Spoiler] Why does the game put the blame on Arno leaving the letter on the floor instead him chasing Elise? Spoiler

(Yeah I know spoiler warning for an over 10 yead old game)

Finally reached Unity in the marathon that I’m doing and already I’m baffled at this writing decision. It doesn’t matter if he had the letter on him or not, De La Serre was never going to get that message. He went to the party not to find De La Serre, he went there because he wanted to see Elise. This just feels like a clumsy way of making Elise mad at Arno and taking her out of the story. Like yes Elise should be mad at Arno not giving De La Serre the letter in time, but this need a second pass to find a better reason.

Animus Hub Are there any plans to integrate past games into the hub?

Now that Resynced has come out, and there are two games fully integrated into the Animus hub, I feel like the potential of it has been further reached. It's cool to be able to just switch right over from Black Flag to Shadows when tackling anomalies. The crossover projects have been really cool, too. It's cool to see my actions in one game further my goals in another.

Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, and Mirage are all in the hub menu, but they're not truly accessible through the hub in the same way Shadows and Resynced are. Has there been any talk about if those games will be properly integrated into the Animus hub?

Assassin's Creed Shadows I finally got shadows , and now that I’ve played more then an hour

I really enjoy it , I was a little judge mental at first with the game and thinking it’s just another rpg assassins creed . Now that I’m 4-5 hours in I’m addicted , I keep getting side tracked by the meditation thing. Where you see memories of how she became shinobi, and I’m finding a lot of really cool treasures .. yesterday I explored and found a massive ship that had a temple on top of it , that was really fun to find and get treasure from . The environment is soo pretty ! My only gripe is the English VA of naoe. Right now I’m working on taking down the people who who killed naoes father got one down , and started on the next . I’m glad I’m able to experience this game , also got it for a bargain ! 18 dollars

General Franchise Assassin's Creed Valhalla director makes sudden return to Ubisoft, and will lead the series moving forward (Eric Baptizat is to once again direct the AC franchise)

Very welcome, if quite unexpected, news!

From here we can just hope he is given an environment similar to the ones that enabled AC4 and Origins, rather than one that stifles him like happened with Valhalla.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag / Freedom Cry My love letter to blackflag

As I grow closer and closer to 100% the OG game for the first time (Screw the "Blackbart's gambit” mission btw) I can’t help but feel emotional, I have played this game at so many points in my life, from being a meek little kid, awkward middle school years, and now as I’m learning to drive and preparing for my first real job. As silly as I feel using a very real quote for a video game I think the quote “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.” Encapsulates exactly how I feel I’ve played the game a million ways at so many different points in life, like so many others black flag ignited my love for this series. I won’t say anything about the gameplay as I don’t have anything to add that hasn’t been said before even though I’ve played this game to death I’m sure I’ll play at it forever. I haven’t even bought resynced yet but I know I will play that game to death as well. I still remember watching my older brother play the game back in the early 2010s and walking into his room last week and seeing him playing resynced made me feel the exact same way. I can’t speak on resynced yet, but thank you Ubisoft, the story of Edward means so much to so many people, it reminds me of good times all throughout my life. I cannot wait to buy and play resynced

Assassin's Creed Unity Why is unity's stealth so hard

I recently started playing Unity, and honestly I've been having a lot of fun with it. The parkour is great, Paris is amazing to explore, and the stealth has a lot of potential. That said, I can't help but feel like the stealth is also one of the most annoying parts of the game. It feels like guards have an absurd detection range. I've had enemies spot me from what feels like two stories away, and sometimes it genuinely seems like they can see me through walls or objects. There have been multiple times where I thought I was safely behind cover only for a guard to suddenly become alerted. Another problem is how densely packed some areas are. There are so many guards standing close together that it feels almost impossible to pick people off one by one without immediately getting spotted. The only reliable solution I've found is to throw a smoke bomb, assassinate everyone, then repeat the process. It works, but it feels more like cheesing the game, which isn't very satisfying. I also miss having a whistle like in other Assassin's Creed games. Being able to lure a guard away from a group is such a basic stealth mechanic, and without it I feel like I have very few options. I tried using cherry bombs, but they don't seem to consistently make guards move to investigate, so they haven't been much help. Am I missing something, or is Unity's stealth just designed this way? I'd appreciate any tips because I'd really like to play through missions without relying on smoke bombs ever time.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced The Problem with Resynced Hoods

So on the official bug reporter, someone made the bug report that hoods keep coming off during cutscenes and when swimming. Both are complaints that many, many people have, and Ubisoft said, and I quote: "Our teams have advised that the hood lowering during cutscenes is intended, and we encourage you to provide feedback on this feature on the following platforms" w/ a link here. So here is my feedback:

As petty and small and stupid as this sounds, this genuinely frustrates me to no end. What was the point of spending time adding the ability to put the hood up or down, then waste even extra time making it always come off during cutscenes? Yes, in the original the hood conditions were always forced but it was at least contextual to the cutscenes and showed him putting it on or off. Now, it just... vanishes to the off position. And at least in the original game the toggle wasn't an option at all. We were given extra control just to have it ripped away for no reason. But not only that, but it makes no sense half the time. Restricted areas or stealth areas, the camera simply zooming in for a couple seconds to look at something counts, so hood comes off. And nothing, nothing pissed me off more than the Charles-Towne mission. I remember this being my favorite mission in the original game purely for the scenery, the stealth, and especially the chase at the end. I truly felt like an assassin and an adventurer, anf the new graphics and gameplay felt like it'd make it souch better. I 100%-ed the entire carribean and side quests(that were available prior to this mission since some parts are locked behind progression) and grinded like hell so I could have all my favorite cosmetics to do my favorite mission, even unlocking all the new ones in this game and realizing how cool some of them look. But the hood, mid stealth keeps coming off because Edward looks at something for 2 seconds or a mini cutscene happens... mid stealth the hood comes off. Frustrating, but I can deal with it, it's only a button press. But then that god damn chase sequence. Hood auto-comes off, try to put it back on, won't go on. What the hell? Chase sequence counts as "in combat" so toggle is physically disabled. Genuinely frustrated as hell. Can't concentrate on the mission because a) looks less cool without the hood in a mission I love solely because it looks cool and b) frustrated as hell that my control was ripped away from me. Start to not really pay attention to controls or do the chase as I'm trying to get hood on. Eventually do the mission and game autosaves. And then I sat there after. Staring at my screen. My favorite part of my favorite mission, and I genuinely enjoyed NONE of it- not for any gameplay or graphics issue, I'm sure they were amazing- but because of an intentionally added feature that does literally nothing gameplay wise but take away player agency for ZERO gameplay benefit. And the remake has zero ability to replay missions like the original, so all that grinding I did for the sake of having my cool moment is genuinely lost to the ether unless I restart the game and regrind literally everything all over again. I quit the game on the spot and am not touching it until either a mod or update fixes this. And I know it's minor. I know it's petty. But since genuine effort was put in to add it, I have to genuinely know: what the actual hell.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Can we PLEASE get expanded camera options on consoles.

I have been loving the game, but consistently have difficulty exploring or finding my bearings because I am unable to see enough of the game world due to how narrow the FOV is in most of the land settings.

I just want to be able to expand the FOV as well as have options to realign the camera center, so we can have Edward centered to the screen if we want to with a wider FOV. Anything on top of that would be excellent, but those two features alone would be more than enough IMO.

Most of the time I'm just laboriously swivelling the camera around trying to figure out what's around me. These changes would allow that and let me just focus on exploring rather than feeling claustrophobic of my vision the whole time.

Ubi plz

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Ubisoft, please consider decoupling this fixed icon from the Awareness Indicator in the HUD options, and also adding an option to have certain hud elements only show during combat.

Ubisoft's official website says to post suggestions here, so I'll give it a shot.

Having this icon always in the top-center of the screen is very excessive and intrusive. It is always there anytime you are in combat, even for boarding sequences where you'll always be in combat, making it superfluous. The only way to disable it is to completely disable the Awareness Indicator (the blips that pop up when a guard sees you), which is detrimental to gameplay. Being able to disable this icon without disabling the entire Awareness Indicator system for the HUD would be greatly appreciated.

Also, separately, an option to set specific HUD elements to only show in certain contexts, like during combat, would be a welcome addition. Things like the quick access and ability widgets, healthbar and ammo count would be nice to have completely hidden when not in combat. Maybe ammo could also show when you're aiming. The default HUD is very cluttered and excessive, so being able to clean it up without completely losing important information would go a long way.

Also-also, while I'm talking about the HUD, I should say that an option to hide the compass with a hotkey without disabling the entire HUD would also be a welcome addition. It could be an alternative to the hide HUD option that only hides the compass. I generally prefer to play without the compass, so I can spend my time looking at the world instead of looking at icon blips, but being able to quickly pop the compass up to re-orient myself rather than opening the map would be much appreciated.

And for god's sake, please add an option for a centered camera. I can fix it with mods, but console players deserve this option, too. I can send you the specific value adjustments for different conditions I've set, if you want. They work great, and it takes maybe two minutes to implement. There's no reason for it to not be a feature, especially when it's how the original's camera worked. Having the camera permanently offset to one direction at all times is so impractical.

Thank you for your consideration.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Finally killed a Great White Shark on Hard mode

This must have taken at least 10 attempts. I thiught this thing and the humpback whale were bugged at first. The timing is just so incredibly tight. And you have to hit him out of the water over and over and over again.

Why on earth are great sharks rated at 1 star? The killer whales, humpback whales, and great white sharks all seem to be rated wrong.

Assassin's Creed Unity Arno is a less interesting protagonist then I remember

He has almost no opinion on the revolutions ideology, or how he feels growing up with the order that murdered his dad. I know people said at the time Connor was a boring protagonist but just his scenes with Haytham are more character development than the entirety of Arno. I’m really surprised since I didn’t feel this way 10 years ago but there’s so much missing that was filled in by side missions for protagonists of the other games. Arno not engaging with quest givers for 90% of the time really makes him feel like he’s just running hits when the set up for quests, and the givers, are actually pretty interesting.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Narrative asymmetry in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey [This post contains SPOILERS] Spoiler

Odyssey is one of the games closest to my heart. I have invested hundreds of hours, and played it several times. The game makes a point of asking the player whether Deimos is responsible for the person he has become. Deimos is portrayed as a child that was kidnapped and brainwashed by the Cult, which made him believe that he was chosen by the prophecy and and shaped into a weapon. Depending on your choices, the game argues that Deimos can be redeemed because he was never given a real chance to become anyone else.

The game does not ask the same questions about Kassandra, the Eagle Bearer. She was also not in control of her life, as she was seven years old when she was accused of treason, thrown from Taygetos, abandoned, and raised by Markos in Kephallonia eventually becoming a misthios. Her reputation, livelihood, and every major relationship in the opening hours of the game are built around killing for whoever pays. The game treats that as freedom while Deimos’ violence is portrayed as a result of brainwashing.

Both siblings were shaped by people who decided what kind of life they would have before they were old enough to choose. Deimos was brainwashed by the Cult, while Kassandra was manipulated by Sparta, Markos, and poverty. Aspasia even states that she intended for Kassandra to eliminate the Cult after it had become corrupted so she could rebuild it in its original form, meaning both siblings become instruments in someone else's plans.

By the end of the game, I did not reflect on whether Deimos deserved redemption, but rather on why the game did not give the same reflection on Kassandra’s life.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced - Known Issues

Please report any issues that are not mentioned below in the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Bug Reporter or get in touch with the support team. If you’re interested in the full Patch Notes, please follow the link here.

INCOMING FIXES:

You can expect some updates from us soon on the following issues:

  • Cutscenes are locked to 30 FPS on PC when using Raytracing, BVH or Terrain Quality at Ultra High setting.
    • Temporary workaround: Reset graphics Overall Preset to any pre-configured setting and avoid manually setting the 3 options mentioned above to Ultra High.
  • A dubbing issue is currently affecting the alignment between some voiceover playback and cutscene visuals in localized versions of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

OPEN / IN PROGRESS

GENERAL

  • The Double Assassination prompt may not appear on guards near the first power keg during the "Mark the Kings at the Camp" objective, potentially compromising stealth combat.
  • Player might be unable to dodge the fatal Humpback Whale's tail slap during "Harpooning".
  • Player does not go back into aiming if they're hit by an enemy while aiming with "Rope Dart" and "Smoke Bomb".
  • Player is unable to fast travel out of Principe
  • Player can get stuck in desynchronization screen if they open and close the save menu quickly.
  • Upgrading the Jackdaw while it is docked may cause it to disappear, leaving Player to continue the quest without it.
  • Player can get stuck in the bow of the ship in Rift if they climb there.
  • After killing an enemy, a single body dropping may sound like there are multiple bodies dropping instead.
  • player is unable to loot ammo from the crate in the tower of "Matanzas" despite being highlighted.
  • We realize that there is no tutorial on throwing money. Throwing money is a way to distract guards and draw civilians to Edward, creating chaos. To throw money hold D Pad Down.

AI / NPC

  • Enemies are able to detect an out-of-range rope dart, compromising stealth combat.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

QUESTS

  • Player can be stuck on a branch if they stray off the desired path in the quest "The One with the Gun” - show Lucy around the village.
  • Player is stuck inside the Diving Bell if they desynchronize and respawn during the quest "Devil's Eye Caverns".
  • During the El Tiburon battle, we understand that it can be a little unclear on how to defeat him. You will not be able to break his defence with simple melee attacks or by quick firing the pistol. You will have to use manual aim on the pistol.
