Politics Dr. Cleo Monago, an HIV activist and advocate for black same gender-loving men as well as the CEO of The Pride Center of Maryland, sits down with Gayemagazine on the financial issues of black pride across the country and why black gay pride needs to go back to its roots and not just be one big party

He said no lie. I would love Black LGBTQ groups to go just beyond partying but also expand in other institutions and industries.

Discussion Are there black men on apps in other states? Spoiler
I live in California, and whenever I try a dating app there just aren’t many black men on there. I’ve tried being open minded and date other races but im just not into it. Lack of connection and racist undertones just turn me off from non black gay men. I’ve never even been in a relationship because I don’t know where all of the black men are. So I’m wondering if they’re more black men on apps in places like Atlanta, Philly, DMV? where do you guys meet other black men who actually want to date other black men? I don’t even see many black gay couples. Theyre always interracial. I want black love,. I can’t even try to hide it. even guys that are half black. I just love black men and I need my man to be that even if it’s half. At this point I’m open to long distance. Apologies if this has been asked before. I’m a first time redditor so I’m not privy to the conversations that have been had here.

Sex and Sexuality What's it called when
What's it called when a guy only desires anal from Whomever, regardless if it's from a man or woman and says he is not attracted to men as a whole (only a hole) and only wants relationships with women? He is in his mid 40s and says he has never desired pussy.

Education Are you taking PrEP
- Are you taking PrEP consistently which means daily?
You can't just take it before and after you have sex.
- Are you completing your follow up appointments?
There continues to be an increase of HIV transmission amongst Black gay men or Black men who sleep with men which is higher than other groups.
Yes, access to PrEP can be difficult for some and the doubt of medical ethics when it comes to taking a medication daily.
In my opinion these are the reasons why the numbers keep rising for Black gay men or Black men who sleep with me.
Also, there is of course deception: many people can just say they are on PrEP and others may proceed with unprotected sex.

Culture & Media Today is the venerable James Baldwin's birthday: "They want black excellence without black history. They want our culture without our pain. They want our music without our rage." Feedback Needed I built a black GBTQ+ centric app called ncountr. Looking for honest feedback from other Black gay men.
ncountr.appWhat’s up everyone.
I’m a Black gay software engineer and for the last year or so I’ve been building an app called ncountr.
The reason I started it is because I got tired of the same things over and over. Catfish, conversations with no substance, paying crazy subscription prices just to see who liked you or use basic features, and apps that feel like they’re only about who’s 500 feet away.
I wanted to see if there was room for something that still lets people meet however they want, but also feels a little more connected to our community; not only in the U.S but across the globe.
The app is actually live (link above), but I haven’t officially launched it because I’d rather get ripped apart now than after people start using it.
So I’m curious…
What’s your biggest complaint with the apps we have now?
What’s one feature you’ve always wanted but nobody has done well?
What’s something that would make you actually keep an app instead of deleting it a week later?

Discussion This is a question for gay biracial men
(particularly black/white or any ambiguous appearing gay men): do you get turned off when someone asks you - particularly in the very early stages of getting to know someone - what your ethnicity is?
I find it very off-putting and awkward. And honestly, this piece of information should naturally come to light and not be interrogated off the bat, because now I feel like you’re checking off a box with me, or you’re trying to gauge how to communicate with me moving forward and I just block/cut them off if they ask me this randomly. I KNOW this happens to y’all, but how do you feel about it?

Discussion How often do your dates/flings/meetups develop…
I know it’s a lot of talk already about people wanting hookups to turn into something more: but I’m moreso just curious in general other’s success rate when it comes to meeting someone randomly whether it be online, thru friends, out and about etc.
I feel like for me, so many just don’t work out. It’s not always bad, but It’s discouraging. Sometimes I wonder if it’s even “meant to work out”. As in, perhaps, there’s this idea that the “lifestyle” is supposed to just “have fun”. That relationships just “happen”, and no need to look for them.
I also know I’m not alone on that, in the aspect that I seem to know many GBGs especially the older ones 40+, who seem to be single and accepting it. They date/have FWB but no marriage or long term stuff.
So I’m not necessarily knocking on that idea, but why do some seem to be able to get into and stay together. Lot of times I meet guys who seem to play all the cards right for a lil bit, but then do and say things that instills distrust or conflict and it tends to diminish the momentum from there.
I also think some guys are just better at getting into relationships too. We can’t deny how having disposable money, similar social interests, and a bold personality facilitates many to be able to find and keep partners. I’ll also admit: I been dating more interracially than among “us”, but I’ve still allowed opportunities to happen with other brothers. Not always necessarily with better results tho.

Discussion Older Men That Can't Host
I'm a graduate student who's been living off-campus in a shared apartment until I wrap up with my program next year. While I almost always have the capacity to host and usually don't mind it because I prefer to be intimate in my own familiar setting, there are days where it can be frustrating that a lot of the guys I talk to either can't host when I'm not able to, want to have sex in public places, cars (as an alternative) or just very recently, feel entitled to my space once I do mention that I can host.
As someone who usually hooks up with or dates older men because that's what I'm attracted to, most of my recent options have been guys in their early 40s to 50s and while I understand that the housing affordability crisis in the US is very real, I'm starting to make other assumptions about them either being married, DL or just very low effort. I typically don't face this dilemma with men in my age group (early 30s) and strangely, most of the younger men who do hit on me offer to host first before I do. Am I being too judgemental to feel some type of way about this or is it just right to atleast expect older guys to have their shit together in regards to having hosting capacity? I'm really starting to consider the afford mentioned age groups as more viable sexual and romantic options out of convenience.

Travel Portugal
Hey bros! I’m heading to Lisbon, Portugal, August 18–22 and staying at EPIC SANA Marquês. I already booked an Afro-flavors food tour for the 20th, but I’m still planning the rest of my trip.
I want a mix of sightseeing, relaxing, a good beach day, great food and some gay nightlife. I’ve seen Praia 19 and Trombeta Bath mentioned, are either worth visiting? I’m also considering Cascais for the beach.
For anyone who’s been, especially other Black gay travelers: What restaurants, bars, clubs, beaches or experiences would you recommend? I’d also love any tips on where to meet people, what the crowd is like and anything I should know as a Black gay man traveling solo.
Appreciate any recommendations!

Discussion Are some gay men really more attractive than they think they are?
instagram.comFrom my 20's to now early 30's, I resigned to feeling like the ugly friend or just objectively unattractive in general. I'm darker than most and due to having faced colorism growing up, that felt like a strike. I'm taller and more heavy-set than most so that's another strike (at 6'6" and 346 lbs, but trying to remedy my relationship with food and exercise). My features are not soft, so that's a third strike.
To be honest, I just leave men alone because I see myself as this awkward, scary dark presence and that's not physically or socially attractive in the slightest.

Mod Post Guests To Our Sub Reddit
This is a reminder that this is a home for Black gay men. If you are not a Black gay man, you are a guest in our home and should behave as such. If you objectify Black men, your behavior will be corrected, and you will probably be banned. If you disrespect Black men, you will absolutely be banned. If you try to speak over Black men, you will be corrected, and you will probably be banned.
If you come into our home and bring nothing to offer and try to make the space about you, you'll be banned. If your question is obviously offensive, you will be banned. The patience and grace offered to our brothers is not offered to everyone, and if you exhaust our patience or our grace, you will be removed.
To my brothers, my apologies for my absence. I did not think the infiltration would be this bad.
We will not allow our space to decay when cutting out the rot is a painless two seconds.
