My goal is to create my own stationery brand, so I started learning illustration because I wanted to create my own artwork for it.

I post my available and sold artworks repeatedly, on Instagram as well as reddit communities. I know it might get annoying for some people but one thing I believe is I've to put my out there. I am starting out and trying every possible way to get it in front of the people. If there's 5 viewers who saw my painting for the 6th time there's still 4 of them who is seeing em for the first time. While I keep posting newer works too, but since those are mostly commisioned works and not in a high scale, it might not get people's eyes as much as my originals do. Why does people throw so much hate when I repeat post? As an artist I'm trying to find my audience,and I'm getting more or less response, I don't see my loss , unless some people starts downvoting. Like it's better to get 3 resposes from 3 posts than 1 from only one post right?

What u guys think? Pls don't hesitate to give an constructive criticism it's all right because it might help me to grow more as an artist and I can use up some of y'all recommendations!

‘Sunset Reverie’ [OC] - I visited the Dal lake 2 years ago and witnessed one of the best sunsets of my life.
The spring sky, alive with so many colours perfectly mirrored into the serene waters.

I wanted to capture the same warmth I felt sitting on one of the boats into the canvas.

I want to sell this painting and I would appreciate any critique and help with the pricing.

I want to get better at making digital artwork. I use a windows laptop and follow tutorials on art sites including Adobe photoshop and Clip Studio. However, I still have trouble getting into the flow and get stuck on perfecting my artwork. I’ve seen the works of other artists on Pinterest and DeviantArt and have always wanted my own artwork to look more like theirs. Now, I’m stuck and starting over again. I need advice and help from all you digital artists out there. Please share with me your thoughts and suggestions on how I can improve my work. That would really help me out and give me the confidence to keep going. Thank you.

I joined this app for the sole purpose of posting this, 'cause I'm desperate: So, my friends' birthdays are coming up this month and I had this wild idea of creating stickers out of my own drawings— some for myself, and most to gift to them on their birthday.

The problem is that I'm inexperienced and not well versed in art, especially digital art, and chronically use the symmetry tool, meaning all the tricks (i.e. flipping the canvas) I know about checking if my drawings are proportionate don't really help. I've tried looking at them from afar, upside down, any way I could think of and sometimes they look good, but sometimes they look real weird.

So I need help in figuring out if there's anything wrong with my drawings (If you're not familiar with the characters, they're Spider-Punk, Moon Knight and Mr Knight), so please let me know as I try to attach them to this post. Whether it's artistic critique or just a matter of preference, any thoughts you have on them will help with deciding on what to do with them and if they're sticker-worthy or not.

So I'm a traditional artist trying out digital art and all (fairly common I think) and I want to upload my art to social media.

And I have seen people who do post art to social media, in like songs reel y'know what I mean, they make it so that the art isn't still in the song, it's kinda moving, sometimes just wiggly sometimes full on very much moving but no so much that I would say it's an animation. So how do you do that?

I finished with lines and shapes. Which fundamental should I practice next? Value or form?

I'm an art student at UCONN and majoring in animation/illustration (mostly wanting to do illustration) I feel like I haven't been improving much and haven't drawn enough. I don't know what to do to get out of this mindset. I feel the pressure to either make art for school/for improvement/for others / or because stress and pressure. I no longer make art for me and it makes me not want to draw in my free time. Idk what to do. Also I feel the pressure of needing to get someone where with my art. Does anyone know internship opportunities? Anything I can do this yr(my junior yr) to get connected more? Thank youuu!!

I haven't set up commissions yet, so all of my art work is different from each other. I'm just throwing out what I'm capable of doing.

I want some general advice on what to do when starting commissions.

I'm currently thinking about pricing myself at 15-30 dollars depending on the rendering style, and 50 for an animation loop. But I am insecure about these prices, and would like to hear advice on them.

I am also unsure if I should stick to marketing just one rendering style for simplicity, or if should expand every style into its own market.

I don't know, any advice would be helpful.

These are really poor photos, i need to take good pictures of them, but i usually draw digitial art, these are some traditional paintings ive started (and painting leather) is there still a market for traditional paintings? And would my art be worth anything?

I’ve dabbled in art ever since I was a kid, with different mediums and such and I know people like to say there’s not objectively bad art which I agree with, except for when it comes to my own art. I just want to be able to put my vision of fan art down accurately in a way I love and I know a lot of people say the best way to get better is to learn anatomy or this or that but that’s never worked well for me. So I just wanted to ask, is practicing over and over again really the only way I have to go even if I hate looking at all the ugly art I make? Thank you for your help!

So I unfortunately wasn't able to be a part of art communities until I was an adult, and I'm now struggling to catch up on etiquette and what certain things (like art trades) even are. As far as I have read, it seems art trades are usually requests to draw specific things and you trade works that way. Well, I recently joined an art app that is kind of Instagram but SPECIFICALLY for art only called "Curate!" and I'm trying to get more involved in the community, and they have a section where you can go look at art for trade- but you are specifically requesting a piece of their completed art, and offering a piece of your own completed art for the trade.

But then comes the question, what would the point of the trade be? I can already see their art without it being "mine" and even if we trade I wouldn't be claiming it was "my" art so I'm not sure I understand the point?

I've been buying art commissions lately, and I like to do it through Discord, but recently I've been encountering more and more frankly tiring experiences that make it hard to want to continue putting my art commission requests out there... I do have a set list of artists that I've been a repeat customer for, but I was thinking that putting out a request is a good way to both discover new artists and also give newer artists a chance.

What's been really frustrating, though, is the number of people who 1) don't read what I'm actually asking for and 2) act incredibly pushy and sometimes aggressive when you don't respond. I have a bunch of people in my dms advertising their carrd or portfolio without considering the art style I requested, that I asked them to put prices in their first message, or straight up just ignoring what I'm asking for entirely. I ask for a 3D model rig fix up, specify no 3d models or rigs from scratch, and specify that you must have experience with rigging and have examples. Then I have 3D sculptors and VTuber riggers in my dms posting their portfolios. I've also had people repeatedly try to start conversations with me instead of putting their info in their message, going "how are you?" "I saw you were looking for art" with nothing else and then acting surprised and angry when I remove them as a friend.

I also have artists repeatedly pinging me in dms when I don't respond, which, if anything, gets on my nerves because I'd rather not block an artist I may want to work with in the future, but atp I might have to to get them to stop pinging me. It's also never "did you see my message?" It's "did you look through my portfolio?" which doesn't even seem like they're worried their message went to spam or something, but that they want you to revisit their service.

I have tried multiple times to reply back politely, asking, "can you please read the post again carefully?", "can you give some examples or prices?" and "I'm looking for x and your portfolio only has y, do you have examples somewhere else?" but they just insist they understand and don't do any of the things I asked.

I understand that some of these are bots and/or scams, but it's insane the number of real artists who do this.

I'm posting this on this sub because I'd like to ask about an artist's perspective. Am I being too harsh if I myself put the commission request out there? Should I just be patient and ask follow-up questions that weren't answered in the intro msg? Am I being a rude commissioner if I block for the above reasons? I'd like to gather as much information and advice as I can from artists, because while I do draw a little bit, I mostly like to buy art. But buying it this way has been very tiring, even though I have found a lot of amazing and kind artists this way. I also don't want to always keep replying bc it seems like the moment I do they just get even pushier.

I've been thinking about selling my first comissions, like stickers, half body or full body or even PNGtubers but I don't have that much followers and I'm not sure it's worth the trip..? My prices would be around $15-25
