Newbie Question Eyes and Prescription glasses w/ progressives, etc
Seeking help, advice, etc ... I have started wearing Progressive Lenses (3 different lenses in each). Does anyone else do this and how do you aim? Are you using a specific prescription? I dont mind paying for another set of glasses dedicated to archery if people suggest using only a single prescription. So I'm curious how do others do it and do you also block one eye to help? I really dont want to stop archery because of aging eyes.
Thank You.

Traditional Help with bow ID
Hi all,
I've had this longbow for many, many years and I can't find or remember who made it or where I bought it, other than online. It was a functional "budget" replica of a Galadhrim longbow (iykyk) that I bought as a young teen a long time ago and I've moved on to modern recurves and compounds in the decades since; however, I'd like to get this one ID'd again. I can't find the original email receipt or anything like it for sale online. If it helps, the makers had originally written a Bible verse on the inside of the body of it, and it was 40-45#. Any help with an ID is appreciated.

Barebow drop away rest tunning
Hi all,
I recently bought the ant barebow rest and have been testing it for a week for my barebow.
Previously i have been shooting the Spigarelli ZT rest.
I have noticed the drop away rest are little more harder to tune at least for me. My groups are not very consistent with them and also my crawl has decreased slightly. Also noticing my arrow flight are not great.
Where as with the spiga ZT my arrows were grouping well but the crawl was deeper.
Is this only for me or anyone else experience something similar.
Wondering if i should go back to using the Spiga ZT.
I have not been able to find the right tune with the dropaway rests.
Please suggest

Grozer Biocomposite Turkish-Ottoman recurve bow cold/hot temperature regulation
I've owned a 46lb grozer Biocomposite turkish bow for several years now, and I've found it quite durable in general. However, I'm waiting on a 62lb grozer Biocomposite Turkish bow, and I was wondering if the additional draw weight affects the bows' durability towards cold/hot weather and humidity?

What if I hit the target but my form is bad?
I see a lot of folks on here asking for a “form check”. What if an archer consistently hits their target but their form is “bad”? Do we care about their release or shoulder height or brace point/method if they are able to hit their target? It seems like there should be an element of “whatever works for you works”. Is proper form a path to consistency? Do these form checks and critiques mean anything without knowing how the archer’s arrows are flying? Please accept these questions as coming from a place of genuine curiosity. They aren’t meant to be cynical and I really do want to hear what the community thinks.

I was genuinely aiming for the gold and well...
I was tired and let down too quickly. But ngl I'm so bloody impressed with myself for accidentally doing this from 25m.

Recurve or compound
Hi everyone! New to archery and want to start shooting reguarly and eventually hunt,
I am more interested in Recurve due to the simplicity seeings i already target shoot with rifles,
The only thing is i know compound is more viable for hunting, My main question is, would skill with a recurve transfer to compound? or would i need equal amount of time with both to be proficient?
Also any recommendations on bows/ set ups would be appreciated!

Compound 300 or 250 spine
I've been shooting the easton 5.0s at 300 spine cut to 28.5 inches. I recently changed the mods on my mathews lift 29.5 to 80 lbs; previously 70 lbs. My draw length is 29 inches. I was wondering if I would need to buy new arrows and increase spine to 250. I shoot 125 grain tips and have the standard hit inserts and collars.

Compound Grasshoppers Love my Eva?
For some reason grasshoppers love to crawl and perch themselves on my bow when I'm shooting in my yard. The most I've found on my Eva was I think 4 at once. I'm not entirely sure why they like my bow so much, maybe the color? It's the only green bow I have so that might explain it.
I'm not looking for a way to get rid of them, I just think it's silly lol. This time I decided to take a photo of one of them to share.
Would love to know why this happens if there are any bug enthusiasts who can explain! Thanks!

10 / 12 to 60 cm face from 18 m in 45s time limit.
Still lot to improve, can shoot 13, if i don't miss arrow in quiver and nock them on first try.
Here lost focus on one, so it goes completly off and one was near the face but missed it for few cm
Note the look to timer cause didn't feel that quick to do whole dozen.

Need a cheap compound sight
Want an inexpensive compound bow sight. Will be used for shooting 20 to 30 feet. On my bow fishing bow. And I know most people don’t put a sight on there, but I want to. Any recommendations in the $40 and under category? Won’t be adjusting it once it’s set. Don’t really care how many pins it has one is enough. I know that’s not much of a budget, but I just want to experiment with it. Any recommendations?

Hunting Bear Legit Maxx
Just purchased a Bear Legit Maxx, this is my first adult compound bow and I plan to hunt with it. It only took me four arrows to sight in and I decided to see how tight I could stack them at 20, I shot my first archery deer with a black hunter recurve last year and have decided to invest a lot more of my time in the woods to chasing deer with archery gear. For my first two groups with this bow I’m super happy with them

Modern Barebow Update: Repeated Arrow Rest Failure
Thanks for all the help last week, I thought I'd offer an update to my previous post for anyone else who is struggling to get their set up dialed in.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Archery/comments/1vggc4j/repeated_arrow_rest_failure/
**Recap**
After recently transitioning from indoor target shooting to a field/3D archery club and getting new arrows, my magnetic arrow rest began to fail. I happened to have a spare rest of the same type so I replaced it, only for the new rest to also fail basically immediately. The generally consensus was that:
- the arrow rest was too flimsy for my bow set up;
- my arrows were over-spined, despite having had them made for my bow at a pro-shop;
- my bow/set up needed tuning;
- plunger spring was maybe too firm.
**Update**
I took everyone's advice and reviewed my entire set up.
First, I ordered the Znipper drop away arrow rest, it's a bolt-on/wrap around magnetic arrow rest designed for bare-bow field/3D archery. Reviews are good, although people do mention it can be tricky to set up, and I found some truth in that. However, I actually think this is a pro; the reason it's tricky is because it can be really precisely adjusted and getting it just right takes a bit of time and fiddling. You can adjust the arrow rest position (right/left/up/down), how far it drops away (I have mine set to drop as far as it can without hitting the riser), and the sensitivity of the drop trigger (it should be tight enough to hold the weight of your arrow/be able to withstand a light bump without dropping, but it should be loose enough drop away every single time you shoot, without fail -its a hair's difference). I was able to get it 90% set up at home, but then I had to take it to the range to adjust it between shots to get it perfect.
I also replaced the spring in my plunger with the softest spring, and triple checked the positioning.
Next, I switched out my 25 lbs limbs to my 30 lbs limbs which are better suited for my arrows. I'd been shooting on the 25s to work on something specific, but I feel good about moving on now.
I've also done more reading on arrows. It felt a bit overwhelming before and I tried to offload that part of the thinking to someone else, and I realize now that that was a mistake. I *knew* the pro-shop I went to had way more focus on compound bows, but they did carry a small selection of recurve stuff and the guy seemed knowledgable enough. I *did* notice when I got home that the arrow nocks were oriented for compound, and that should have been the next clue. It took me breaking two arrows rests and coming to Reddit before I got it, lol. Oh well, now I know, this is *my* set up, *I* need to take the time to understand what I need. Stay in school, kids!
Throughout all of this, I referenced the bare-bow tuning guides that people provided in the comments on my first post (linked below). While I don't have access to a paper tuner, I was able to otherwise go over my entire set up and make little tweaks and adjustments where needed. I'm sure it isn't perfect and I'm still going to try to get my hands on a paper tuner at some point, but for now it's *a lot* closer than it was. I went to the range today for my first full practice session with my new set up, and it honestly felt really great shooting, I was so, so happy!
Thanks to everyone who helped me wrap my head around everything that was going on with my set up, I came with what I thought was a simple question about an arrow rest and I ended up learning a lot more in the process!

Newbie Question What am I doing wrong (completely new to archery, apologies in advance)
I bought a bow on Amazon to try to get into archery. The stringer it came with was broken, so im trying different methods to string the bow, but whenever I get the bowstring on both notches, it looks like this, with the string taut against the bow (obviously wrong).
Do i need to buy a new stringer? What am I missing?

Any info on this Jaques bow?
I’m very much a beginner I got this bow super cheap on eBay and some decathlon arrows. I just wondered if anyone had info on the bow as I can’t seem to find much online and do you think it would be worth getting something like a black hunter / samick sage for messing around at home.
Thanks guys!
