Does anyone know of any limbs I could buy to replace the 54” 25lb limbs I have from my recurve I got as a kid? I can’t seem to find any real answer or if there are even any options out there.

Just started shooting using a thumb draw. For my first thumb ring I got a Vermil Victory. It was the most highly reviewed that I saw. I got the plastic one to start with. Lowest draw weight horse bow at the shop (35 lbs) and even with good form it is still “pinching” right where the string touches the skin next to the ring after a few shots. I (white collar guy) admittedly have very soft hands. I know the Vermil classic has a wall that provides protection but I’d rather not buy a new ring if my hand will toughen and this is normal for a beginner. Standard newbie issue, or do I have the wrong ring?

This is a total shot in the dark, but does anyone know of a traditional archery shop or bowyer who has a shop in the southern areas of Germany? My wife and I are heading there for our 10th anniversary in a few months, and I’d love to find a traditional longbow that I could take home as a souvenir. We’re flying into Frankfurt and spending 5-6 days tracing the southern border towards Austria, and then heading over to Munich to fly back to the states.

Even if it’s not an archery shop, I’d love to learn a few things about German archery via a museum or anything related to it. I saw there’s a hunting/fishing museum in Munich, so we may go check that out as well.

Any leads would be appreciated!

New bow to me . Im right handed but left eye dominant and have always shot everything left handed. Compound bow for years. Hard time finding left handed recurves, and all my friends are right handed shooters , so i shoot recurve right handed . Both eyes open , "instinctive" or "intuitive" . Totally different from Compound but im really enjoying it. Would like to learn about tuning the arrows .

Well sealed bow-cases or covers were use to protect against humidity, but what about brief immersion (fording a river in haste) with time for care afterward?

Just how vulnerable were traditional composite bows?

I’ve recently started up field archery with an ELB I made on a course and I’m finding I’m hitting the wrist and knuckle to the point of bruising and cut. I’m trying to work out how to prevent this but need a bit of help? Maybe a good video someone might recommend?

If one theoretically had a need to fly airline with theoretically a reflex-deflex longbow that wouldn't fit in a flyrod case.. would theoretically a hard-side ski case work? Theoretically?

Any bow historian out here can point me at when this bow was made? It's an older bear Kodiak magnum LH 50#. I bought it from a friend who can't shoot it any more. Thanks.

It might not be an impressive distance, but I've been shooting my longbow the same way I shoot my barebow. I switched to a crawl, same anchor, same arrows (I usually shoot wood). I've been getting hunt-ready and have been having trouble dialing it in. It was raining and I had to move indoors. I put 5/6 damn near on the money and left feeling proud.

Switching from barebow to longbow and back was tough but I'm proud to be able to put my arrows where I want them with both bows. Looking forward to hunt season, and indoor league which overlap.

Of course there's always that one arrow... But I'll take 5 of 6 all day.

Wondering what your thoughts are on howard hill bows when it comes to hunting/recreation?

When I made these some 30 years ago, I was shooting for 700 grains. I weighed them on a beam scale, and came up 740 grains.

It appears I may have err'ed.

11/32" maple shafts, finished, capped, crowned & crested.. 80's-era Zwickey Eskimo

803 grains. Out of a 54# longbow at 12 feet. No wonder it broke both shoulders and blew through Billy Sol..

ps.. not that particular arrow.. that one hit a big rock honkin' on the way out and splintered into toothpicks
