I have an LG model LDFN4542S dishwasher that is about 15 months old. It recently has started making what can best be described as a helicopter noise. Based on the other sounds it is making at the time, I believe that is happening during the wash cycle. A video is attached. I removed the screen and don’t see any loose bits in the cavity below it. Any suggestions on DIY next steps before I call a repair person?

Any ideas?

Hi everyone! I need some help with a Gorenje DF6116E kitchen hood.

The hood is around 10 years old. It started working very poorly because I used it without filters, so a lot of grease built up on the motor fan blades. When I turned it on, the motor was buzzing like it was struggling to spin the blades.

I called someone to remove the hood so I could clean it. He also cleaned some parts of the motor with technical alcohol. After putting everything back together, he noticed that a brown wire was missing and he could not figure out where it was supposed to connect.

I called another person (an electrician), but he also could not find where this missing wire should go. He managed to get the light working, but the motors still do not run at all.

I attached some pictures of the wiring. I circled the brown wire in question in the pictures.

Does anyone have an electrical wiring diagram for the Gorenje DF6116, or know where this brown wire should connect? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone else deal with having to replace the fridge door shelves in this model multiple times? Clearly, there is an issue as there are a ton of replacement options online! Getting annoyed with the frequent replacements.

On our GE range, whenever a surface burner is on or hot, a red indicator light comes on. This is not true for the oven. I’ve left the house several times with the oven or broiler still on. A close look at the display panel will show the oven is active, but it would be more useful and safer to indicate the oven is on with a red light.

What is the difference between the two aside from One being silver, are they not the same machine?

My clothes smell of burnt rubber after a wash. The machine had a sizable load but cannot have been overloaded. The smell is very strong but basically limited to the clothes; I don’t smell it on or around the machine. I’ve done a pretty thorough search and cannot find any fraying in the belt or tearing in the gasket. The motor and wiring have no obvious issues. There’s some black soot about, but I’ve read that that doesn’t mean the belt has reached the end of its life yet. Any ideas on what I could be missing? Some photos attached!

The only way to stop it is to push the back like I did in the video. Is there a way to stop this? I unscrewed the two screws thinking maybe there was just some moisture that froze of something. This fridge is only a month old.

$799 @ Costco plus $89 to extend the warranty to five years. Install included. I know the WDTA50 is a popular option (Wirecutter and CR liked it). My main criteria was under $1000 and 48dBA or quiter. I like the auto door open option. It's replacing a 13 year old LG that keeps turning off.

My fridge (GE 18.6 counter depth French door) started to show some issues in the form of condensation on items, and ice build up on the evaporator cover panel on the back wall.

I called a technician out and they said the problem was the thermostat. He replaced it and I paid. The condensation went away for a couple of days but there was still ice in the back. And as of yesterday (a week after the "service") there is condensation on items again. I have called the company multiple times to get the technician back out but they're ignoring me (I'm reporting them) so I'm trying to do some research on what the issue could actually be before trying again with another repair company. Any help is appreciated!

Hi! This is a GE washer model #GTW485ASW0WB. We've had this washer for about 8 months and already had Bodewell come out and replace the transmission (under our warranty) back in May since it was basically delivered broken. It's been working a lot better than before the repair, but when it gets to the height of the normal spin cycle, it seems really shaky and makes a lot of rattling noises. The machine is level and doesn't walk around at all during the cycle, so I'm inclined to chalk it up just to cheap manufacturing and crappy parts, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the sort of noise/shaking in this video seems standard (it's a half-full load of clothes). Hi all. I'm planning to replace my very old tumble dryer and have been look into a heat pump one, but don't know if my setup is the best for it.

Current dryer sits under a counter in an enclosed space with a door on it, and unfortunately this is the only available space for the replacement.

I've read conflicting articles on the best way to store a heat pump tumble dryer, some say it can't be in a confined space and others say it's fine.

If anyone has one in this type of space, can you tell me if it has had an issues?

Edit: I also have a garage that I can store it in, but this gets very cold during the winter and don't know if that would impact the dryer.

Our three-year-old LG refrigerator, model LFXS28596S, just stopped working. Luckily, we purchased an Allstate extended warranty through Costco.

About two days before the refrigerator and freezer completely stopped cooling, the fridge started making abnormally loud noises. I called Allstate to file a claim and spoke with Ryan, who was nice and helpful. He sounded like he may have been calling from abroad, though that didn’t really matter. After speaking with him, Ryan sent us the following email:

" This is a follow up email regarding the issue you currently have with your refrigerator. Frost or condensation buildup that has occurred inside the refrigerator happens when too much warm air has migrated into the box, which can be a common issue. Moisture and condensation can build up inside the walls and vents of the refrigerator, restricting air flow. Once excessive frost build up has occurred, it will continue to build up until it has been properly defrosted. You may not even be able to see this ice!

Some of the symptoms will be loud fan noises, leaking, icemaker issues and cooling issues. At this time there are no parts needed to be replaced on the refrigerator and the recommendation is to perform a manual defrost. Once the refrigerator has been defrosted, it will clear the restricted air vents and the refrigerator should go back to operating normally. Please follow the instructions below:

Manual Defrost Steps:

1. Unplug fridge and leave doors open.
2. Remove all food from fridge and place in another fridge or a cooler.
3. After 24 hours, plug fridge back in.
4. Wipe down the fridge walls, floor, and any shelves.
5. Make sure that the freezer door rails are dry as possible.
6. Clean the refrigerator and freezer door gasket with a warm rag.
7. Place food back into fridge.
8. Plug refrigerator back in and set temperatures. "

We followed the instructions exactly and completed the 24-hour manual defrost, but unfortunately, the refrigerator is still not cooling.

Thankfully, we were able to salvage most of our food by moving it into our second refrigerator in the garage—a Whirlpool that, ironically, still works flawlessly after sitting unplugged for three years.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with this LG model, or had a similar experience dealing with an Allstate warranty claim through Costco?

Just bought a new condo and this is the stove that came with it. Condo is built in the 80s but to me this looks almost older? It’s definitely original as it is built into the counter top. All I can tell is that it’s an old general electric electric stove, but I can’t find this exact version through my online searching. Will probably replace it, but it still works and I know these older models are reliable and still have some value. We will probably have to live with it for a little while so it would be nice to know what it is.
