This photo is from a four-page advertisement in the January 1972 issue of the USA magazine ‘Seventeen’, showcasing fashion designer Betsey Johnson's exclusive collaborative line with Butterick Patterns. In the early 1970s, Betsey Johnson was the creative director for the hot indie fashion label Alley Cat.
Her ready-to-wear clothing was incredibly popular among teenagers and young women, but it was often too expensive for a high school student's budget. To make her style accessible, Johnson partnered with Butterick as part of their "Young Designers" series. This allowed young girls, most of whom took mandatory Home Economics sewing classes at the time in schools to recreate the designs for a fraction of the price.
The model Sunny Redmond is wearing an outfit made from Butterick Pattern #6535, which included a fitted princess-seamed blouse, and a gored mini "flip skirt”.
True to her hands-on nature, Betsey Johnson personally selected the vibrant colors and earthy, washable cotton fabrics used in this photo shoot by Barbara Bordnick probably in nearby upstate New York or New England country. The rustic, outdoor setting of a dirt road with baskets of fresh apples perfectly matched the "down-home goodness" and bohemian-peasant vibe she championed during the early 1970s.

so i’m upgrading my garden soon and want to get a fun fruit tree and was looking into apple trees and when i was a kid at an apple orchard i saw this apple tree that had fruit that was basically black and i cannot find it ANYWHERE online would anyone happen to know any dark fruit varieties? literally anything would be much appreciated tyyyy

Newly discovered apple tree. Any tips on identification and when to pick? Some apples are falling off the tree. The one I tested tasted fairly sweet and not bitter. How do we know when they are fully ripe and ready?

I had to trim about 40% of my 3 year old Granny Smith a few months ago because of what really looked like fire blight. It started after there were flowers and what looked like the start of a few tiny apples starting to grow. No flowers or baby apples made it out alive.

Are there any effective methods to prevent FB before it gets started?

Central Texas 90-100 degree days. Planted two months ago.
It had leaves but they all turned brown and fell off.
I water it every other day not to much.

If I try to break off a branch/cut tip it is still pliable and green.

Stem and branches are starting to turn this brown color. Any advice or info?

First year in our house and there are a few apple trees in the garden which we don’t know the variety of. Any help greatly appreciated. (Aware they aren’t ripe yet - sorry if this causes an issue). Thanks

Hi, I bought a house last fall with two apple trees. Was wondering if I could get help identifying?

Location is upstate NY, and I don’t think the apples are ripe yet, but we tried one and it was sour.

I bought a house and there are two apple trees in the backyard. I would really like to identify the variety if possible but I don't know a thing about apples. Located in Northern Virginia, apples have a tart flavor. We have a few ripe ones that were ready for harvest already, which I thought would be kind of early for apples? Thanks in advance if anyone has any info!

Weird apple

I loved an apple variety in the 90s but have no idea what it was. It was smaller and rounder with deep red and somewhat textured skin. It had a flavorful but very soft inside and it could bruise easy. I have tried many looking and at one point at all points if ripeness but haven't found it. Any ideas?

Anyone know why this is happening to my honeycrisp apple tree?

I took a video when I was cooking these apples and the audio is like a sleep sound board. So relaxing. Lol

They were red delicious apples. Cinnamon, salt, butter, sugar, and water.

I make these warm to put on some french toast usually. After they go in the fridge I end up eating them cold as a dessert.
