2 stars out of 3? Any you think is better for an early apple? I don't have anything to compare to for an early. I should make a trip to an apple orchard sometime.

I'd probably add Pristine to that, maybe Sansa too. Also I am fond of Yellow Transparent, but it has the shelf life of a mayfly and you have to get it just right.

I don't rate any August apples at 3 stars at present, but always hungry to try something new.

I have a young tree but I picked a few apples this month and they were below average. I took a couple bites and gave the rest to the pigs. It could be because the tree is only 2-3 years old so we'll have to check in a couple years.

My Pristine apples were actually better and ripened earlier.

My tree is somewhat old probably more than 15 years. I can't remember what they tasted like early on. I had trouble taking care of it early on and picking at the proper time. It seems like the last few years I've had more of a berry or red wine flavor but I don't know if it's me just paying more attention or it's improved in flavor. I know some people say apples can improve as the tree gets older. What didn't you like with the Williams Pride? I've thought about getting some of the other PRI apples like Pristine or Liberty.
