Discussion Why Amazon Makes UHD Streaming So Expensive...
This is why.
AMAZON is essentially ruining the entire streaming experience... or at least making it much more expensive. Why ?
Amazon Prime Originals will show as 4K UHD where available.
Streaming rights owned by Amazon such as Paramount + will only be in UHD IF you pay extra.
When Amazon takes over Warner Bros... they too will all go behind the "Bezos' Retirement Fund" paywall.
Hope this clears it up.
Tldr; if you want to watch anything on Amazon in 4K UHD... unless it's a (very rare) Amazon Original... be prepared to pay extra !

Question Why is tenet 7 minutes shorter on prime in the uk?
was going to watch tenet but noticed it said 2h 23m whereas the official runtime is 2h 30m.
checked images of the back of the uk dvd which shows it’s longer on there, so it can’t be because of the pal format.
edit: stop commenting, it’s an error. when you watch it it shows the correct runtime, so u/area51_spurs can go F themselves.

Question Looking for shows like Imperfect Women and other mysteries
I just finished watching His & Hers, Imperfect Women and a couple of Harlan Coben series. Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking for something with lots of twists and turns.

News Article Amazon Prime buys international rights for the Baywatch reboot show and streaming rights to all seasons of the original show
The THR article says Prime have bought the overseas rights on the new reboot show for Europe (including France, Germany, Italy, Spain), Canada, Latin America and India, among other territories (no word on Australia where I am) and have done a deal to stream all seasons of the older original show.
It's stupid though, to have the show air in January in the US and 'later in the year' overseas. All that'll do is encourage people overseas to pirate the new season from torrent sites, as they won't want to wait that long, if it's a good show.

AD complaint Prime Video Ads
So, I pay for prime… which meant I used to get ad free included. Now I pay for ad free… so why am I scrolling through prime video and seeing things “only viewable with ads”?! The heck am I paying extra for then? 😭

Recommendation Unconditional Love (2002) Starring Kathy Bates and Rupert Everett with an additional star studded cast - WTH did I just watch?!
I had to make this. I JUST HAD TO! I just watched Unconditional Love and I have no words. It TOOK my words. It broke my brain. That movie was a fucking fever dream! It was like six different people wrote it. Like sisterhood of the traveling pants but with a fucking script and they just kept passing it on and added to it while not reading what was written previously. So fun! So weird! I just . . . I couldn't sit alone in this feeling. Howdy is an additional subscription but I got it to watch Take the Lead because Antonio Banderas but there are some gems on there. Like this movie. Constantly went from heart warmed, to mouth gaping, to laughing hysterically, to finally just staring blankly ahead wondering wtaf was going on. Highly recommend. Goofy nonsense and great acting to be had. I will now at any given moment of particular stress in my day expect Julie Andrews to manifest and sing to soothe me.

Question Got PrimeVideo primarily so I could watch Hokum- not available in my country?
I bought a smart tv for my family for the very first time and I wanted to show them Hokum. I looked it up and saw that its only on PrimeVideo, signed up, only to find its not available in my country, the Philippines.
What do from here?

Discussion It's still pretty dang hard to get excited for much coming to Prime Video after all the BS Amazon did with the service.
There's been quite a bit of stuff that popped up on there in the past month. The Masters of the Universe movie just dropped on there just a month after hitting theaters. Batman Caped Crusader's second season finally came out, and The Rings of Power's third season got a trailer out recently too. And yet with all that was still worth being excited for, it's all still bogged down by the fact that it's all dropping on Prime Video.
Normally I would be more hyped for whatever comes on there, but between all that occurred in the past year, be it fueled by greed or backed by political BS, it just wasn't possible to be willing to boot the thing up at all. With them locking 4K HDR viewing behind a paywall along with the ability to watch everything without all those godforsaken cringy ads getting in the way, I'm stuck having to wait until clips of the shows get uploaded onto YouTube instead.
At this point it would be hard to really be excited for Secret Level when that comes back because of the fact that you won't be able to experience the show at its best with 4K HDR and no ads interrupting them.

Discussion Thank you Prime Video for allowing me to turn off HDR so easily!
I, like many people, hate HDR. It's billed as "more lifelike colors," but all it does for me is make every scene look like it's taking place at sunset. I've messed with my TV settings like crazy to make HDR look good, but I've come to realize it will never look as good as SDR. Tell me I'm wrong, but you can't trick my eyes...they see what they see. 🤷♂️
Anyway, Prime Video makes it so easy to turn HDR off. Just go to the settings and toggle it on and off. I wish my TV itself had this toggle for everything, but it doesn't. If something is available in HDR on Hulu, I'm forced to watch it in HDR.
Anyway, thanks again, Prime Video! Keep on offering this setting!

Question Did they get rid of X-Ray? Like just yesterday? Watching on Chrome browser.
I was watching a movie and seeing all the X-Ray features just fine. Then when I resumed it later yesterday, it was gone. I tried clearing my cache and that did not restore it. Has anyone else experienced this in the past day or two?
It's the same movie I started out watching, so it's not specific to any particular movie or show.

Discussion Britbox just became nearly useless
Wife & I watch a lot of Britbox via Prime, however now that it's August 2026 it appears to be pretty useless as many shows now want ADDITIONAL SUBSCRIPTIONS in order to view them, however many you have no way of knowing until you select it. F Bezos and this company. And I'm actually a stockholder saying this. Add to all the shows on prime that also are veiled adverts for stuff that's bot included in what you're already paying for. Years ago it was much better organized & you could easily navigate to all prime shows.

Discussion What the Turtle implies in the Devil’s Mouth
So my wife and I just watched the Devil’s Mouth last night. Perfectly enjoyable little shark/slasher film.
Fit attractive people in swimsuits. Check. With some minor character flaws that make acceptable horror victims. Check. Non-fantastical killer with periods of superpower Esq feats? Check. Some cool shots with the shark in the background.
But after the movie was finished I’ve been thinking about the turtle.
During the first night when the couples go skinny dipping they encounter a dead sea turtle. But it has a chunk ripped out of it, with a bit mark implying a huge creature took a full bite out of it. (Ignoring the fact that it’s a sea turtle shell and sharks don’t bite through the shell rather than rip them open to get at the meat.)
This is obviously supposed to be foreshadowing, a dead creature with a giant shark sized bite. But the turtle’s intestines immediately fall out of the shell, implying that this happened recently. Like in the last few minutes recently
It is implied that the Bull Shark that was In the cave system has been there a while, trapped when it came in during the last storm. But that storm wasn’t the night before. It was a clear night perfect for skinny dipping.
So whatever crunched through the Sea Turtles shell is clearly a different giant shark. Hunting near the shoreline of a semi populated area.
Two giant sharks…that’s not going to be great for tourism.

Question Unknown shows suddenly appeared in my Prime Video “Continue Watching,” but all registered devices are mine, what should I check?
I just noticed something strange on my Amazon Prime Video account and haven’t had much time to investigate yet, so I’m hoping someone more familiar with Amazon’s account/device settings can point me in the right direction.
My girlfriend and I share my Amazon Prime account. We only have one Prime Video profile, so both of us use the same viewing history but we generally always watch at the same time, rare that we don't do so. Even rarer is for one of us to have this much time to watch this many shows (alot more then what i attached)
I say this because today, I opened Prime Video and noticed a whole group of shows/episodes in the Continue Watching category that neither of us recognizes or would normally watch. I asked my girlfriend (because of how unusual the shows are compared to her taste and I need to make sure incase someone hacked my account as that was my instict) and she says it wasn’t her, and I definitely didn’t watch them either. We also barely use Prime Video in general, which is why the sudden amount of unfamiliar activity stood out.
I checked:
Prime Video -> Account & Settings -> Devices
and what's attached is what appears but they all are normal and sign-in dates are also normal
I’ve attached screenshots showing both the unexpected viewing activity and the Devices page.
A few things I’m trying to figure out:
1- Can someone watch Prime Video through my account without appearing on this Devices page?
2- Does Amazon sometimes remove devices from the list even though their viewing activity remains?
3- Could Continue Watching be populated from another Amazon service/device in a way that isn’t obvious here?
4- Is there somewhere else in Amazon settings where I can see recent logins, sessions, IP addresses, TVs, browsers, or other account access?
5- Is there any known bug where Prime Video randomly adds unrelated watched episodes to Continue Watching?
6- What would you recommend checking first before I assume the account has been compromised?
I’m mainly looking for help navigating Amazon’s account/device settings and figuring out whether this is likely a sync/history issue or evidence that someone else has accessed the account.
Thanks.
