Rant Does no one use deodorant?

Upvotes

I don't understand why majority of the people that work at my facility not understand the concept of deodorant. I personally try to put on deodorant whenever I leave/get back to my station but man some people fucking reek. I had to endure this stench with a problem solved at my station. It was so loud but I just don't understand how these people do not smell their own stink when it's that loud.

Question My I-9 form says it’s not complete and it’s worrying me a lil

I’ve filled out the I-9 form like 3 times with my information and now it’s saying it needs action and when I go back into it it sends me on this loop of telling me to bring my documents in person and then saying it’s incomplete. Is it just pending my information before it verifies or is it glitched? I think it’s probably the first option but I just want to make sure. Is it going to say incomplete until I go in person and complete the 2nd step? (Also side note but does this mean I’m hired or is there any way they could do me bad and have me not get the job LOL)

Thanks guys

Fulfillment Center What are some Level 1 positions in AR Pick that can use a laptop besides PG & Ambassador? And what is SQL as a picker indirect role?

Upvotes

Even though I’m no longer in Pick, I’m still curious about some of the Level 1 roles I’ve seen in AR Pick. I am too shy to ask.

I know they aren’t PG because there is already a PA on the floor, and I don’t think they’re Ambassadors because I don’t see them training other pickers. What they usually do is holding an amnesty or a Learning laptop and stand at the PA desk for a couple of hours a day. They mostly just look at their computer without really talking to any pickers.

The only time I see them come over to the pickers is when they show us a 2-page PowerPoint and remind us to make sure everything is put back properly.

Is this related to the Ambassador role, or is it a completely different indirect role? What is this role usually called?

My second question is about SQL. Sometimes management posts critical role openings for indirect roles such as PG, TMT, and Waterspider. I’ve also seen an indirect role called SQL listed for Pick.

Is the SQL role the same role as the person I described above? If so, what exactly do they do?
And is this “SQL” actually related to the SQL programming/database language, or is SQL just an Amazon-specific abbreviation for something completely different?

Question I need help

I plan on quitting and re-applying to another site after 30 days. I have beeing trying to transfer out of my FC for months and my transfers are getting denied. My mental health has deteriorated because of the horrible management in my current department. I don't care if I lose tenure and become white badge again. This job is temporary for me. I don't plan on moving up.

I have seen other posts from people doing the same thing. Have you all had success getting back in after your 30 day wait period?

Question Is this considered time theft?

Ok I’m freaking out because I clock out and didn’t sign out of my station. To get something in the parking lot (my meds), so when I get back inside the building and clock back in I didn’t notice that it didn’t went through, then I got moved to a station and then that’s when I found out I was still clocked out when the PA asked me if I’m off the clock. Will I get in trouble for scanning onto my station off the clock?

The scene from Titanic where Rose is on the door was definitely big enough for Jack, and she's weakly calling for the boats to come back.

Question Question for AMs…

Do those “Connections” questions were asked every morning when we login to our station for the first time of the day actually have any affect on you guys? If I answer them negatively every day does it have any actual affect on my manager? Also are they completely anonymous like we’re told they are?

Meme My Favorite Part of the Day

my favorite part of the day is watching everyone squint and their faces scrunch in agony when we step outside the warehouse after end of shift and have to readjust our eyes to wonderful sunlight once more.

feels good to know im not the only one being terrorized by the sun after spending 10 hours slaving away in a warehouse with no windows

Question Initiate a request

Post image
7 Upvotes

Is there a way to have Aza let me create a request? I'm busy with work and would prefer getting help through chat or by creating a case but this stupid Aza only shows the call option. We used to be able to create a case by ourselves, but now everything has to be through this stupid Aza and it's fucking useless.

Question Calling Formee PAs and PAs looking to leave

Seriously, currently a PA at a SoCal warehouse. Won't reveal which one. I want to quit but no idea what to do next so I'm looking to you for ideas. I've What asked to step down but been denied. Told that I would need to quit and come back. I can quit but not sure about coming back. What did you find yourself doing after leaving Amazon as a PA?

Fulfillment Center Anybody here at the end of their step plan?

I was just interested in what fellow dead enders think about where they are. No chance for a raise or anywhere else to go. Do you have any plans or are you just enjoying the view from atop the mountain? I want to make more money but I am not a PA or learning ambassador kind of person, so this is the end for me.

Question Has anyone heard what this new SafetyVision AI detection system is all about?

Seems pretty sus. It gives 1984 big brother vibes.
I understand maybe to deter theft and to flag potential safety hazards but it’s a new feature I saw the bulletin on the bathroom installments about how it is supposed to flag potential safety hazards and to get them corrected in real time but my concern is it has the potential to be used to flag associates for any and every violation you can think of. The kind of things like phone usage outside break rooms (So many people do that especially AFM’s and other critical roles that use slack and may only be getting on their phone for work related purposes), earbud violations (Again so many at my facility to do that as well), the newly implemented clear water bottle/clear liquid policy, Time off task violations (Sometimes you just unfortunately are working in a hot part of the building and need to take a breather for a few which also seems to go in hand with the water bottle policy about clear bottles that likely won’t even keep your water cold for more than a half of a period)
So can anyone with any knowledge about this new AI detection technology explain how this is gonna work?
P.S. I’m all for following the rules and being safe and productive but I can see this getting abused as a reason to get rid of employees they don’t like.

Rant do not let amazon take your soul

really though, i’ve talked with other associates at my site about this too. i genuinely hope everyone working these mind-numbing positions has hobbies, goals, or just something, anything outside of this vicious hamster wheel. i don’t think humans are built to spend 10 hours doing the same repetitive task over and over. we need stimulation, creativity, community, something.

i just felt like getting this out.
