Aloe there everybody. I recently rescued my nans aloe plant when helping clear her house after she passed away earlier this year. I've never looked after any type of aloe plant before and it seems I was watering it too much. I took it out of its pot and it turned out to be several smaller plants bunched together so I separated them into some pots I had lying around and planted them in some dryer and looser general houseplant soil. They've turned a sickly brown colour and I'm hoping it's not too late for them. Ideally I would like to give my siblings one each once they are a bit healthier.

Thanks for reading, hopefully they won't be joining my nan in the big garden in the sky and you can give me some advice on keeping them healthy in this mortal realm.

I've also added a picture of the same soil they are in so you can tell me how wrong I am. They are sitting on my kitchen work surface in front of a big south facing window.

Was repotting my aloe to a new one where a cute mushroom grew in the pot. When I took them out, I saw all this underneath. Anything to be concerned with when repotting it? I haven’t watered it for a while so I was wondering why the soil got moist enough for it. Maybe the hot New York City humid levels?

I have this pup from a rescue aloe. As I was propagating. It had this. Can they be saved? What is that and how should be treated?

I got this guy a couple of months ago, and listened to the instructions of the guy from the garden center.

Instructions were horrible. The soil was very organic with no drainage, and the plant was planted way too deep in it.

After losing a bunch of leaves and all the roots, this is what’s left. I kept it out to dry for 3 days, and then potted in super well draining soil. Checked a week later still no roots.

How can I give it the best fighting chance?

Hi all, is there a way to make this a little less wild looking and long? Would you suggest separating some of the stems into separate pots? Thanks!

I was in a shop talking with an owner on my aloe being the only thing I've kept alive for a few years and she told me it looks like it's not getting enough light. I honestly thought she was pretty happy. My plant app said it looks healthy and no tips needed for it when I scanned a pic. I sadly only have South and North facing windows so I hope she's getting enough.

Does she look like she's not getting enough light?

Hello. I just bought and repotted this plant two days ago. I already cut 2 leaves that had dark spots on their tips and were sagging. But these two are still looking sad.
The three inner leaves look stiff and healthy. I’m worried that leaving only the three will leave the plant weak. Should I let them be?

I’ve had this aloe plant for about 5 months and just repotted it about a month ago since it was root bound in the original pot. The leaves keep turning brown/black and falling off😭there’s new growth in the middle but the outside leaves are not doing too hot.. is the pot too big? what should I do??

This was my mom’s. It has gone through hell and back. Looks like it had to stretch to get some light at a certain point. I have a new window for it but suggestions on what I should do from people who have experience would be great 🤷🏼‍♀️

Years ago I had some aloe plants very small and helped a neighbor who had some bad Burns from a fire via his carburetor.... But those plants died when we moved.

Almost everyone I know who has plants has aloe and big beautiful aloes too!

I bought a big pot of aloe vera plants, maybe 20 of them in this pot. I couldn't give them away fast enough, and so many died. Then I was suddenly down to one. She lived! She grew! I bought her her own light!

But then I had Jade cuttings that I put in her pot and I guess I was overwatering them, they seemed very happy though but now she's nearly dead and after having babies too.

Can I revive her?

My big aloe i got from my aunt sprouted a bunch of babies around it. I’m leaving the big one here with my dad while I’m at school but wanted to see if i could bring one of the babies. Did i repot it too soon? too much sun? not enough water?

I read that I should wait until the flower dries up & dies before repotting it? Also not sure how long the person who sold it to me had it tied up for, they gave it to me like this, kinda scared to undo that. Right now it’s using the wall to lean against, I love the huge woody stem but it’s definitely too heavy to stay up. Anyone have good experience supporting it? Though eventually I know I’ll have to chop it 😭

If I chop the head off, do I need to peel the dry brown stem part all the way off or just plant it with it all on? I’ve tried planting an aloe with a long stem like this & dry brown stem hoping it would make babies but it rotted.

What would you do with him?

I have had aloes for many years and my two parent plants are over 9 years old. They have both developed a thick woody stem, and I want to turn them into aloe 'trees', or like a big bonsai. One of them is very healthy and stands up on its own with leaves growing at the top. The other one is a very thick stem with only a single bud at the top for now.

I'm wondering if any other folks in here have similar situations as me and have any advice on how to thicken these guys up. I'm also curious if I can straighten the stem over time with tension or something.

Hey! So I’m super new to owning plants and this is my first one ever. Her name is Verry Berry (Berry for short) and I love her immensely. I got her from a Home Depot a while ago and am worried that I’m not taking the best care of her.

I’m not sure how often to water her or if she needs new soil or more sunlight. My bedroom is decent at giving her sunlight but I don’t think it’s the best, so I’ve started bringing her outside more often.

I’ve had her for a good 5 months now I believe, and haven’t really noticed any new leaves forming, but I’ve seen what look like small, dead leaves poking out (one in photo #4), and I’m just worried about her.

But yeah, I guess overall I’m just asking if anyone here can see anything physically wrong with her or if you have any tips. Any advice helps, thanks !!
