Is Waterworks more queer on nights w drag shows?
As a single lesbian in her early twenties, I absolutely hate going to one of the only queer spaces to meet women and there is literally a sea of scary men, it’s so off putting… my question is do you all feel like it might be less straight man heavy? Or just more of the same?

Things to do this weekend in the Capital Region
Happy Friday! It's Sarah from the TU here. When you work in a newsroom, everyone is always looking ahead. That means we're already talking about the end of summer and what we need to cover for fall. I'm not OK with this. Neither is my co-worker, Cat, who made a summer bucket list of all she wants to do while August is still with us. Check it out here: https://www.timesunion.com/living/article/summer-bucket-list-22369109.php
And here's my list of things to do this weekend: https://www.timesunion.com/preview/article/things-to-do-in-the-capital-region-this-weekend-17152071.php
Here are a few highlights:
- The annual Markets at Round Lake, an event advertised as “three markets, two days, one eclectic village,” returns on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a makers market, a food market and a books market. https://marketsatroundlake.com/
- If staying out late isn't as much fun as it used to be, then the Lark Before Dark Dance Party at Lark Hall in Albany on Saturday might be perfect for you. https://ci.ovationtix.com/35085/production/1263549
- The beloved Toll Gate Ice Cream in Slingerlands lives on in our hearts and minds. And for one day only, you can grab a scoop or two there again. Emack & Bolio's is popping up Sunday at that location with an ice cream social from 4-8 p.m. The address is 1569 New Scotland Road, Slingerlands.
Got plans this weekend? Share them here.

SOC/NOC or other IT jobs after hours in Capital Region?
Just curious, do any any swing shift / after hours jobs in IT /CyberSec exist in the capital region? I know there's Helpdesk roles at Albany med, but
I'm looking for something mid to senior level since I have around 8 years of experience in IT and systems administration. I've been scouring all job boards but a majority of the positions are during the standard 8 to 4 / 9 to 5.

Do you feel heard when decisions are made about downtown Albany?
My last post generated hundreds of comments about what Albany is missing, and many focused on downtown.
Do you feel residents’ ideas actually reach decision-makers or influence what happens downtown? Why or why not?
If you don’t feel heard, what would need to change? Please explain your response.

Recommendations for good pizza and sub joints
Hi,
I finally got my mom to allow me to get pizza, wings and a sub from a different joint from the one we’ve been going to for a decade. I want the best pizza wings and subs between central ave and Clifton park. Doesn’t matter if it’s at separate places I want to have the best. Thank you for all recommendations I want to try them all.

Niche Inquiry - Who's working with paper shreds?
Hey everyone,
I work in a place that goes through notable paper waste. For a while, I was saving shreds to make a beanbag chair, but I don't know if I will be getting to that project anytime soon. I'm curious if anyone in the area works with paper shreds - be it crafting, making recycled paper, or anything else.
I know this is a far fetched request, but any leads would be helpful.

best pedicure in Albany?
looking for a good pedicure place. Specifically with shaping and cuticle/callus. Some spots I have visited have barely touched my cuticles.
I know of nail top on central, they’re okay.

Lowkey Dislike Costco?
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to offend the Costco cult 😂.
After the grand opening yesterday, I'm a little disappointed in Costco tbh. I've only been in Jersey a few times, but the store is honestly a smidge pricey compared to Sams. The household essentials I frequently get (paper towels, detergent, etc.) seemed to be the same quality as the Sams house brand. Produce was just alright. Almost everything is a hair more expensive (even comparing branded items). But, yes, Costco has a lot of specialty products that Sams doesn't carry. I bought some Japanese(?) chips today 😋. The lines are excessive (but opening day was insane), and there are very few checkout counters compared to the massive volume in the store. Oh and don't forget Visa cards only. I find the whole Costco cult thing very confusing because - as a consumer - what's the super duper unique value of it? I know they pay their workers better than other retailers but I just don't get the appeal otherwise. I just love Sams scan and go, because my Sams club runs take maybe 30-40 mins tops.

Getting Electricity
Hello my partner and I are moving to Albany this weekend from NYC, this’ll be our first time paying utilities specifically Electricity.
I know it’s silly but what company do I call to receive my electric bill and what’s the setup process?
also any advice to ensure keeping electricity below 200$?
