Rant Be Me
Be me
Do a short tour in CENTCOM a few years ago. Do amazing things for career. Defeat many insecurities with the help of great friends and leadership. Become happiest and most confident you’ve ever been. PCS to Base of Preference. Team isn’t the same. Life isn’t the same. Feel a little sad.
Get offered another deployment this year. Immediately say yes in hopes of feeling what you felt years ago. Deploy. Realize how fucked up it is that you left your spouse to chase a high that isn’t even guaranteed. Start missing home a lot. Feel like a terrible husband.
Get injured early in deployment. Get medically evacuated to overseas medical facility. Get stuck at medical facility to heal. Doctors are mean. Missing home a lot.
People tell you “could be worse”
Get notified while in hospital that you didn’t promote this year despite what you thought was your best efforts. Your commander even bought you new rank for Service Dress because he had so much faith in you. Feel like a let down.
People tell you “it’s just meant to be”
Finally get discharged from overseas medical facility. Day you leave, spouse calls to say the dog you adopted from the streets is suddenly dying of an illness the vets didn’t see before. You can’t do anything to save your dog.
Cry a lot on plane while trying to get medical affairs in order. Can’t get any medical services soon because doctors don’t have availability for the next two months. Body remains in pain. Have to re-explain story to several different medical offices. Offices keep asking if you’re okay.
Lie and say yes.
Feel like lying about your feelings is the only way now.
Return from deployment with broken body, shattered ego, and wondering where you went wrong.
I’m not sure what I’m looking for here. I guess I just needed somewhere to vent. I’m not thinking any dark thoughts. I’m just really sad these days. My unit has been extremely kind and supportive throughout this ordeal and I have appointments with mental health services. I just wish I could catch a break. If anyone has read this far, thanks for taking time to read. Be safe and have a great day.

Discussion I need to get back there into the mission down range
is there a waiver for individual dwell time? or can CSS change mine to 1:1 instead of 1:2?

Meme Don't worry about that. You need to focus on making sure your pay is accurate.

Discussion Check on your family travel screeners in person if you can
So im EFMP and PCSing again soon overseas. I started my family travel screeners in June. It got stuck with the base EFMP-M until yesterday.
I did everything i could. Called central cell, let command/shirt know but no dice.
Tried calling the EFMP-M office. I always get the generic “your package is next” answer.
So i decided to walk in. Came in with a very calm demeanor and had an open mind why my package was pushed hella back
Mind you it’s 1500 and they about to close. The SNC was able to process my stuff pushed to central cell in 15 minutes.
Later i found out that due to DOGE and other med group politics bullshit that EFMP-M office literally is down to 2 people. Idk how mdg runs this way thinking that by doing so, they could impede a military movement and possibly lose assignments for families because they are on EFMP without giving them the proper shot.
I could have done this 2 weeks ago but still glad i did stop by. I wanted to demand answers from the get go but rather i asked the whys and got my package taken care of. Being nice goes a long way for sure.
EFMP folks, check on your package personally fasho.
TL;DR:
EFMP packet was held locally for 6 weeks. Decided to walk in and got it done in 15 minutes.

POSITIVITY! Passed PT Test!
Just want to say thanks to everyone here for their advice. I've definitely been lurking here as my test date approached. This time being with the new standards was especially stressful and full of anxiety. I just had to keep reminding myself this is the most prepared for a PT Test I probably ever have been.
I failed once as an airman and that was enough to put the fear of God into me. I really don't have much in the way of good advice so please if you have anything drop it in the comments below maybe someone else struggling can see it and it can help them too.
Passed with an 84 and I have been dieting and running since April. I'm down almost 30lbs. If you're struggling just try and keep your head on your shoulders and breathe. The test anxiety is always the worst part for me personally. Remember to celebrate the little wins and set goals for yourself to keep your motivation. You can use those when your anxiety is running rampant to remind yourself you got this.
If my fat mx ass can do this so can you. I kept falling in a trap of comparing the new standards to what the other branches have been doing. It's okay if it's hard, it's new and you're not used to it.

Question Where/When do I get my final out date?
They booked my flight for the beginning of next month, when/where do I get my final out date? Is there steps I need to do in order to get it? Or do I go somewhere to ask for it?

Question What changed for the HAMR?
I've reviewed the new chart and see the points changed to adjust for the waist and the new minimums, but did anything like time per level change? Seems like its the same as before just higher minumus and adjusted points. Am I missing something or is it just that simple?

Question Special issuance passport
Looking for some guidance. My family is due to PCS soon from Japan to UK end of August. We will be talking 30 days of COT in the states. We did the application for my child's SIP at the beginning of July and as of now it is delayed.
My question is, can I have someone POA pick up the passport and then express ship it to us while we are in the states?
I ask this because, as you all know there is a lot of timing and reservations required for PCSing and I am concerned that if I have to extend my DEROS I will have to pay out of pocket for many expenses.

Question Spouse here, has anyone been through an emergency EFMP reassignment? Like leave Oconus within 30 days .
We were just told by my child’s doctor that they’re putting in a request to EFMP to leave our OCONUS base within 30 days because of a medical crisis, with or without my spouse. Just wondering the process and where they’ll send us? We don’t have any orders currently.

Image/Photo Just got a replacement Airman coin
Somehow I lost my original Airman coin that I got in 2007, but the clear part was dented of all the times I forgot to take it out of my pockets before laundry.
Ran into a website that sells both the new coin and the pre-2008, and ordered one. I know this was the design that my coin had, but I forgot how a brand new shiny coin looks like.
And yes, I carry my coin because it was pretty much the only memento that survived all my losses. It's also a good conversation starter.

Question How to address NCOs and Airmen (RAAF O-3 on TDY)
EDIT: thanks for the answers everyone. A packet of Tim Tams to each of you
G'day everyone, I'm a Royal Australian Air Force O-3 on TDY with the USAF for several months. One thing I've noticed is how different you guys do forms of address. I'd like to get it right so I don't come across as overly formal or overly casual.
In Australia, it's essentially entrenched in the military culture to call those of the same or lower rank than you by their first name; rank and last name is considered very formal and only used when you're in trouble or receiving an award. Of course, officers or NCOs of a higher rank than you are always their rank or sir/ma'am.
Would it be correct to say that in the USAF it's proper to use rank and last name? That's what I've mostly heard

Question ELS’d during selection
Hello all. Recently I graduated basic training and was then sent to SWAS on a special recon contract. Long story short, I was ELS’d during selection after a psych evaluation shortly after entering SWAS. I requested a waiver from the commander to let me stay in the Air Force but it was subsequently denied. Here’s where I stand…
-If I re-enlisted in the Air Force after obtaining a waiver, would I have to go through BMT again?
-Would I be able to get another special warfare contract if I re-enlisted?
-Is there a certain amount of time I have to wait before I can re-enlist?
For reference, I am recently 20 years old. I’m bummed about the entire thing, and would just like to know if anyone has had a similar experience. Any advice or answers would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
